2014-2015 schedule, what do we know ?
lets assume we play 31 games again next year, 18 conference games, 3 games in puerto rico, that leaves 10 non conference games
ud needs a minimum of 17 home games, so 9 in conference that leave 8 out of the 10 non conferene have to be at home
we have GT at home next year, what else ? thoughts ?

Are we for sure going to 18 conference games next year? I heard rumors but never saw an official announcement.

I hate 18 conference games. Not many opportunities for big road wins out of conference.

I see from FL papers that Florida Gulf Coast is looking for a buy game. That would be a good match if it could be agreed upon for UD Arena. The ASUN Conference is down to 8 teams, so there is a need for buy games.

I kind of agree, but our non-con road games haven't typically been any better than an average A10 team. The variety is nice, though.

I think 18 conference games are official
Ole Miss and Georgia Tech are at home. I think we play at Iona or on a neutral against them
I think Miami series was mentioned as possibly restarting

Top 100 road win @Olemiss was important this year IMHO. kenpom argues (and I bet the committee has read his blog on it) that a win versus #90 RPI on the road = #50 neutral = #10 home. Because of this the @St. Louis win was equivalent to beating the #1 team in the country neutral.

I'm 98 & 3/4% sure that Iona was a buy game.

I thought I remember that we agreed to a return game vs Iona as long as it is played in a NYC venue (MSG?).

Right. Iona was not a buy game. The return game might be at Barclay's, possibly as part of a double-header.

Agree, I don't like the fact that everybody is moving toward more league games, I really like beating BCS schools and/or good non-BCS teams, a longer league schedule will lead to greater bias against non-BCS schools IMO.

This means we will only play one true road game prior to A10 play...yikes.

We'll still probably play at least two. This year we played three. This year we played 17 home games and 14 road/neutral. Two non-conference road games and three neutral would again give us 17 home and 14 road/neutral.

Next year's team was supposed to be the "good" team and the schedule was set up to have the bigger games at home for that. Like in 2003 when UC, Marquette and 'Nova were all at home. Set yourself up with the best chance to win the most games with your best team.

I'm confused. Eight of the 10 non-Puerto Rico must be at home. Ole Miss and Ga Tech are. Iona is neutral. That leaves six more that must be at home, with only one possible slot for a non-home game. Thus, we play one true road game max.

UD played three true nonconference road games this year (Ga Tech, Ole Miss and Illinois State). With 18 conference games there are two more conference games, one home and one away. I suspect that means they play two true road games. One will be Iona - which might be at Barclays, leaving one to schedule.

Iona was a buy game. I'm not sure where this idea that we a have neutral game, because it didn't come either schools press release.

Hmmm, well I guess we will find out if X really was serious when they said that they still wanted to play UD. They have an opening on their schedule, and they are looking for a home and home series, this would seem to be a perfect match.

Our profile has risen quite nicely over the past few years and this year's run in the NCAA may enable us to actually book some higher profile programs from BCS Conferences on a Home-and-Home basis. If we can get some games with high profile programs to be Nationally broadcast on one of the major networks, that could seal the deal. Our stock has risen dramatically and the Media seem to have liked our story, so that may not be a bridge too far at this point. We may not have to "settle" for a game with "X"

I'll say this in regards to scheduling X...
With Dayton's Cinderella run, and the renewal of one of the greatest rivalries in college basketball, the storylines would be there for a primetime national broadcast.
Might be in the best interest of both schools to look at it for that reason.

I'm partial to San Diego St which is also looking for a home and home.
So is Creighton but many on this board have predicted their decline.
If Xavier would have maintained the home and home with UD instead of starting one with Alabama, would they have avoided the first four this year?

Arizona State was a tourney team. The other three all made the NIT. So all of those are probably good opponents.

St Mary's seems like a natural, except for being on the other side of the country. Same for San Diego State.

Sorry folks, but when they are looking for a so called high major, whatever the heck that is, they are not, elite eight run or not, thinking of UD. Just as small reminder.

I think High Major includes the A10, Mountain West, Big East and The American (AAC) and select programs like Gonzaga, Wichita State, St Marys, BYU. I've seen used for the regular multi bid leagues or programs between the BCS/Power Five Conferences and the Horizon/MAC/OVC/etc

OT: I thought this was worth posting, VCU and Cincinnati are playing at UC next year. It doesn't seem like UC usually schedules A10 teams, maybe UD can get a game with them.

I wish we could set up some kind of round robin including the five teams in the area. Wouldn't it be worth playing games against Miami and WSU if it also meant games versus UC and X?

With the Coaches and ADs of all the major conferences congregating at the Final Four this weekend in Dallas, we may get some news soon on how our OCS will shape up for next year. Hopefully, TW will not get the brush-off this time (as he reported had in the past) when he broaches the subject of home-and-home series with BCS schools. Our recent experience in scheduling the likes of Ol' Miss and USC (and now Georgia Tech) may, along with our pre-season Tournament record and recent success in the NCAAs, enable us to get a more receptive hearing from others in those conferences.

Don't think Texas would be too excited about playing in Dayton. But selfishly, I would love to see Dayton in Austin.

I know Dixon vowed that he would never bring Pitt back to UD Arena but I would think there would be more coaches willing to look at playing UD in Dayton. It would be opportunity to test their team on the road in big crowd environment and on the home game I would think knowing that the Flyer Faithful would travel, it would add to the home experience and sell a few more tickets.

There was talking of playing Miami of Florida in a home and home last year but that fell through and I think that's how Iona ended up on the schedule.
Miami might make a nice stop for the first game in a series on the way to the Puerto Rico tourney.
The Puerto Rico tourney has UConn, West Virginia, Texas A&M, New Mexico in it. Some opportunities to do some resume building there.

If it's 31 games, then there really is only 9 nonconference games to schedule. UD got 31 games last year because at least one of the home buy games (St Francis) was part of the Mauii tournament. To get to the same number of games, they would have to have the same "foreced" buy games with Puerto Rico.

Who called blame them? They realize they are very beatable and the momentum of the programs have appeared to shift in UDs favor... they wouldn't possibly want the UD futility in Cincy to finally end
