Dyshawn & Kostas pair up!
The Mavs have released their NBA Summer League roster to participate in Las Vegas starting this week.
The headliner will be second round pick Isaiah Roby, joined by Kostas and TA-DAA !!!, our own Dyshawn Pierre.
Kudos to our Flyers!

Dallas Mavs 96 - Brooklin Nets 92
Subjected myself to 2 hours of NBA Summer League play by replay last night. It was interesting due to the performance of our two homies who got good minutes. Kostas started for the Mavs at center and logged 14 minutes, and Dyshawn got about the same number of minutes off the bench.
Kostas had his moments knocking down a 3 and rattling the rim for 9 points. Dyshawn played a good floor game while recording a 3 and playing good D. Kostas drew some ire while missing the equivalent of a 2 foot putt on an ally-oop.
As far as how they compared to others on the Mavs and Nets, I would say they were mid-pack. There are some very capable players in the summer league with blinding speed.
Kostas could gain another 20 lbs and still look skinny. To his credit he was all-in trying his best to not look like another YMCA afternoon player in front of Coach Carlisle. He was working the system.
But the quote from a scout from a year ago still rings true. Kostas is a year away from being a year away. There was however, some objective comments about his improvement with only the slightest passing comment about Giannis being his blood relative. That's a step forward toward judging him solely on his own performance.

Jordan Sibert (Hawks) scored a game high 22 in a six point loss. Started the game off with a three pointer.

Our heroes playing for the Mavs got good playing time in a blowout win over the Rockets.
But to me the stunner is that the Bucks have signed Giannis's older brother Thanasis to a guaranteed 2 year contract. That puts the 3 brothers in the NBA at this time.

Game almost over and Sibert has played 14 minutes and scored 21 points v the Pacers. High scorer for the game so far. Hawks lead by 15, 4:30 to go.

Just to finish this off. Sibert indeed was high scorer in that game, and shot 7/9 from 3pt for the game. Shot once and missed inside the arc. Established himself as a deadeye 3pt shooter.
For the 4 game season he is second on the Hawks with a 16.7 average.
Kostas and Dyshawn pretty much worked the Mavs system, playing a good floor game and played about 12-15 minutes per game. Kostas started all 4 games at center. Fairly pedestrian offensive show, but concentrated on defense and offensive movement.

Watched a lot of these Vegas games and the NBA has stepped up their tv coverage and have made tons of data available this year. In past years it was tough to find a box score.
The summary of Kostas participation was fair. His starting all four games showed compassion on the part of the Mavs. He is making progress at a snails pace, but gives a great effort and will continue to get exposure. I don't see him getting a contract like Thanasis any time soon.
Hope I'm wrong.
