We have officially jumped them in figstats rpi by one. We are 25 and they are 26. They can’t be happy about the TN loss this am nor do I think they ever want to get beat by Dayton.
Match up issues for us might be their 6’6” right side hitter. She’s a freshman from Belgrade, Solvia. She gets the second most swings. Our block against her will be Lauren, Alli, Molly and Kendyll. I think that’s basically 6’1” vs 6’6”. It might be an issue.
On the reverse, their setters aren’t very tall. They used both against TN I’d expect them to start with 5’10” Sr. Dailey. They also have 5’9” So Mauer. Our hitters should be able to score over both.
With Amelia out, they are also a little taller than us in the middle. But Kendyll is use to that as are Lauren and to some degree Alli. We just need our outsides to do what they do very well - make great decisions as they jump and swing hard when they se the opening. I haven’t seen them play this year, so I don’t know if we are faster. We play pretty fast, so this could be a competitive advantage.
I also see Brooke being a key to this match. At 6’2” she might be called on to go extra rotations on the left side to stop their 6’6” Rightside hitter. She plays at least one rotation their now. That might be increased to 2-3 of her front row duties for this match.
Olivia also might be called on. Hopefully her knees had no issues after her limited court time against Evansville.
Time to beat a team people don’t think we can beat — because we know we can even if others outside the program don’t think so.
