Why Catholic Colleges Excel at Basketball
I live in Chicagoland and have been sucked in to the Ramblers (as many of us Flyers have I am sure). Thought this article was very well done.
Side note: Who knows what would have happened if Florida got upset and we faced Stephen F. Austin... maybe we would have made the Final Four. But I digress...

Interesting article. Would have been nice if they had mentioned Dayton since the article went back to the 50's and 60's and ours was the program with the most wins in those decades. Oh well.

A Heavenly Game?

A good piece from Frank Deford from 1986 that attempts to explain it. It also mentions Dayton. It was also written at one of the peaks of Catholic college basketball, largely thanks to the Big East. However, it also shows there's a long history that precedes the rise of the BE.

UD gets 4-5 shout outs in the comments section, for what it's worth.
