rpiforecast.com kaput
www.rpiforecast.com
I was very sad to see that rpiforecast is apparently no more. It was one of my favorite sites. They still have last year's data up.
I hope that maybe they are just getting a late start this year.
Such an easy-to-use and very informative site. Every other rpi site IMO was so much harder to use and much less informative.
Even though the selection committee no longer uses rpi, the site IMO would still hold great value as a comparative barometer.
They had every schedule for every d1 team easily-linked, rpi, sos, rpi wizard, conference rpi rankings, Sagarin-based season/game win/loss projections, live up-to-the-minute rpi rankings, top 25/50/100/200/200+ w/l records, ooc sos, ooc w/l, ooc rpi, etc.
So sad.

How does the RPI Forecast Work?
Basically, I take all the games that have already been completed as given and then using probabilities of winning, I simulate 10,000 separate seasons. Once I have done this, I calculate the RPI and RPI rank for each simulation. The expected RPI and RPI Rank are the sample averages from all 10,000 simulations.

I loved the site, if for nothing more than its sagarin predictor. Using the Sags to predict the expected record of each team as they moved thru the season was a great tool when i wanted to compare UD's (or any team) chances of making the dance, getting seeded, etc.. Forget the rpi, I'd love to still have that part of rpiforecast.

I emailed the site operator. He said that he might try to get the site up and operational again this year around Thanksgiving.
He felt like the site had lost some/all of its significance with the NCAA selection committee switching over to the NET rating system.
Also, he said that if he can backward engineer the NCAA's new NET rating system, then he will shift over to that rating system. So, we will see.

I think this site might a suitable replacement for rpiforecast. Might even be a better site as it has some extra bells and whistles. I am still sort of evaluating it.

barttorvik is a good site, very similar to kenpom (but free). Honestly, the $19.99 I spend every year on kenpom is the best money I spend all year.
See blog about kenpom versus barttorvik. http://adamcwisports.blogspot.com/p/...on-counts.html

I am having trouble figuring out if I am doing the teamcast correctly. The DynamaRank thing and updating of the T-rank thing are confusing.

I noticed on this site the Flyers are favored in every remaining match except @ VCU Jan 16.
Also, their methodology has Dayton as the 57th best team in the country. ESPN's BPI has the Flyers ranked 66th and Sagarin a lowly 82nd.
For comparison, Xavier is 79th in Teamcast, 85th in BPI, and 65th in Sagarin.

17-1 would be nice, 25-6 for the season. Probably won't happen but it will until it doesn't. Outside shooting is concern, but seeing how we do against A-10 competition will be very interesting
