OT: Harlem Globetrotters All-Time Roster

not overlooking the razorbacks BY ANY MEANS, but was curious with all the tributes to meadowlark lemon ...

i've never seen the globetrotters live, but always felt they were showmen that were athletic enough -- not really great basketball players.

here's their all-time roster -- interesting to study:
http://www.harlemglobetrotters.com/h...ll-time-roster

alas, no dayton flyers -- maybe someday! there are representatives from miami (oh), duquesne, st joseph's, UC, wittenberg, wilberforce and urbana, among others.

some of the names that most amused me, that you may also recognize -- some of which were limited to cameo appearances:

Kenny Battle F 6-6 Illinois
SirValiant Brown G 6-1 George Washington (laughed out loud)
Cedric Ceballos F 6-7 Cal-State Fullerton
Wilt "The Stilt" Chamberlain C 7-1 Kansas
John Chaney N/A N/A Bethune-Cookman (briefly, roomed with meadowlark, didn't like the clowning)
Darryl "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins C 6-11 Maynard Evans H.S. (Fla.)
Todd Day G/F 6-7 Arkansas
Connie Hawkins F 6-8 Iowa (involved in same scandal as roger brown?)
Earvin "Magic" Johnson G 6-9 Michigan State
Damon Jones G-F 6-8 Wilberforce (Ohio)
Kevin Lyde F 6-10 Temple, who can forget?
Scooter McFadgon G 6-5 Tennessee
Olden Polynice C 7-0 Virginia
Pooh Richardson G 6-1 UCLA
Ron Rollerson C 6-10 Temple ... must have placed a blanket order on temple big men!
Karim Shabazz C 7-2 Providence
Tyson Wheeler G 6-1 Rhode Island

what dayton flyers would you have nominated in their prime?

roosevelt chapman
darnell hahn
yuanta holland
chris wright
5'0" keith braswell?

Maybe not the Globetrotters, but according to this old UDPride thread - former Flyer Steve Lawrence played for the old Washington Generals.

Mark Jones played for a knock-off version of the Globetrotters called the "Harlem Superstars":

Steve lives in London England today and still works for NCR. His son played college in the US. I can't recall where.

Lawrence's son played one year for Princeton (go figure - Steve was a genius) . . . I think only one year . . . his teammate was the brother of a former Flyer but that name escapes me.
