According to Lunardi
We will be in the First Four with a possibility of playing Xavier.... I don't know how I feel about that... Thoughts?

Maybe the committee will figure a way to get this game this year after all.

And it might be the only way (short of getting an invite from the NBE) to get Xavier to play us at the Arena.

You Mean To Tell Me
that the NCAA Selection Committee dislikes Chris Mack as much as Flyer Fanatics do? That's cool...

It won't happen, but if we have to play in Dayton that's who I want. Palm has Xavier in Dayton and Dayton playing UK in the second round. Lunardi is too close to the A10 to stay objective. Good talk track on ESPN all day though.

Why do people bother with Lunardi's views?

Lunardi's recent bracket has one thing i agree with: his 12-16 seeds are all populated by auto-bids (including Providence). That's 22 of the auto bids. That means the First Four at-larges will all be 11 seeds if he's right about that.
Incidentally, if Providence is a 12 as an auto, that means Joey brackets thinks they would've been out had they lost last night, which I also agree with, although it would have been close. So it looks like there was at least one bid stealer from that perspective (possibly more if green bay or Toledo or southern miss get in, which are all doubtful).
It is interesting that he thinks that providence didn't jump over any at-large teams, even with the win over Creighton.

It will put Dayton at Dayton if they want to use it as a way to change the way the First Four is done. I see it as an excuse to use multiple venues.

More on Lunardi: (see what I did there?)
I don't disagree with any of his 1-9 seeds. We may quibble over the placement within the 1-9 range, but I think the 1-9 seeds he has listed are all deserving of being 9s or better EXCEPT Oklahoma State as an 8. I think he's right, that that is where they'll be seeded, but I don't think they quite deserve it. I think they're a 10, but will get a 7-8-9. After all, he's trying to predict the field, not necessarily say who should get what. That's 36 of the 68 bids.
I'm sure he'll be so relieved to hear that I agree.
Where else we agree: the 12-16 seeds should all be populated by auto-bids. That's 22 of the 68 bids.
So, who are the last ten in, in what order, and who are the first eight out, in what order? Hmmm.

They are already talking about having two sites in 2016 to cut down on the travel for West Coast teams. Apparently there have been complaints that the travel is too much for such a short turnaround, from Sunday evening to Tuesday. But they could put the West Coast teams on Wednesday.

I think it would be pretty reasonable to have an "east" site (Dayton) and a "west" site (say, Vegas?) for the games. I have a buddy who used to work at Cal and I know they had a heck of a time handling the logistics of getting to Dayton and preparing for a potential game a couple days later in another city (they got spanked anyway, but it was difficult to organize players/team/band/cheerleaders to travel on very short notice.
It is a little crazy how many West Coast teams have been here. USC, Cal, St. Mary's, BYU (not exactly west coast but still). BYU might be back again.

Joey says the last ten in, in this order, are:
Iowa (10)
Colorado (10)
Saint Joe's (10)
Arizona State (10)
SMU (11)
Tennessee (11)
Xavier (11)
Dayton (11)
Nebraska (11)
BYU (11)
I would argue Dayton's resume against Xavier, Tennessee, SMU, and Iowa for sure. I think Dayton is deserving of a last four bye spot, right on the 10/11 cut line.
Dance Card has Dayton's resume better than Memphis, K State, Xavier, Arizona State, Tennessee, Iowa, Oklahoma State, and SMU, all teams Joey Brackets has seeded higher. Now I realize Dance Card isn't trying to predict seeding, only at-larges, but still.
Comparatively, Jerry Palm has:
Arizona State (10)
Nebraska (10)
Pitt (10)
Iowa (10)
Dayton (11)
Xavier (11)
SMU (11)
Tennessee (12)
BYU (12)

I know it keeps changing, but I don't know if I could handle a Dayton- Xavier NCAA tournament game. I've been to all four US-Mexico World Cup Qualifiers in Columbus, and they're simultaneously awesome and awful. I'd feel the same about this tournament game, if it happened. I'd feel sick all day. I shouldn't let sports affect me like that, but I guess that's part of being a fan, huh?

I just read off Southern miss 27 wins... There are just no big wins in there. They are 22-2 against the plus 100. This is where the committee can not reward teams simply for garnering wins. Sorry souther miss great year at 27-6but you got play some better teams.

I agree. If you watched the committee's statements over the past few years they have specifically pointed out the weak OOcC as a reason for leaving a bubble team out.

And they've done it to Virginia Tech a couple times.
