Not just MAC PGs. Every other team we play seems to have similar short, super quick PGs.

As Brooks said EM is not doing anything fancy on offense. They are just playing one on one and beating us on the dribble.
Brooks has also said twice that EM is out hustling UD and wants it more.

He is giving a lot of effort, I just don't know how he has shot 5 times and has been blocked 4 times at 6.9.

We have left about 8 points in free throws on the floor. That is leaving them in the game.

We've been concerned all year that our poor foul shooting was going to cost us a game we shouldn't lose. Today could be that day.

Pollard got hammered on the missed dunk. How do you not see or call that?!?!?!? I replayed 3x and absolutely hammered on the arm.

Pollard=POG
Take the W and run. If we can shoot free throws, we win this game easily. I expect this EMU team to be one of the better MAC teams this year. That Lee kid can score.

It was not easy, but it's a W.
We are not playing to our potential yet, but we are running out of time before our imperfections start to hurt us where it counts.

Free throw shooting without Pollard was 20-30 or 67%. OK but not great.
Could we have a shoot for Pollard contest with the fans shooting? 6-14
We shot 44 free throws. Part of the EM game plan?

We played well in stretches, but we need to start putting together complete games.
FTs will probably be this team's Achilles heel all year. I am really very surprised that Pollard isn't showing any improvement in FT shooting over last year. He will not be a great player unless this issue is addressed.

Hard to get a significant improvement in FT shooting in two days of practice. That work needed to be done last summer instead of dunk practice.

If I was Archie we go old school right now. No showers until we shoot free throws, and make a few laps to the top of the 400 level for every miss.

The other problem is Pollard took 13 shots and all but one were point blank, and he only made 5. Archie needs to tie a rope on him and not let him shoot practice shots outside of six feet.

Maybe it's too soon to say that our Flyers are blessed, but considering that the Aggies outrebounded Dayton by 21 and our Flyers clanked 18 free throws against EMU (how many front end?) and won both games...hmmm!
What's next 35 turnovers against the Falcons and another Flyer win?

Especially since Khari isn't around. He was money last year.
Scooch looking confident and solid from the FT line, esp in crunch time. Jordan won't miss that many more as the season goes on.
Real guy that needs work is The BEAST, Pollard.

Two more games to pull together our complete game, and complete offense. Then its Arkansas, G Tech and soon we will be in Conference Play.
Not 90% happy where we are right now. Got some things to iron out like:
Playing a solid 35-40 minutes
Hitting free throws more consistently
3 Point shot selection
Setting tone offensively early, instead of comebacks or playing down to competition!
Rebounding has been fairly solid B+ to A
Assists/Ball Movement B
Shot selection B- or worse
Free throws C-
Scott and bigs B+
Davis and Davis B- (now getting concerned with D Davis)
Team Defense B+
Team Offense B
Bench Play/Robinson C
Leadership ?? Unsure as I'm not close to the Team
Coaching A
Please Comment. This is for the Season ~
Would like to hear

Not fair to diss a 6-1 start against some decent opponents, but an "A" for rebounding? All else in your summary looks fair. Thanks for sharing!

Rebounding is a 'B' at best...I don't care who we play, we need to win that battle.
Coaching...6-1 is great but we've had a couple ugly games. Not sure if it's because of a lack of depth, lack of talent, lack of consistency or lack of adjustments. I'll give him a 'B' for now.

I gave Team a B+/A for rebounding more due their were various doubts since big Steve was lost for the season, we had Devin's boards to replace, plus Kavs.
Doing much better than expected. Got killed by Texas A&M's bigs but that was first game; we have won or been even on the boards rest of season. And Scott and Pollard are picking up the lost boards. And Pierre usually good for 5 or 6.
I don't think Coaching is losing us any games Rollo. It's mainly execution.
- Poor shot selection in several halves I can think of
- horrid FT shooting in 3 or 4 games. I'm seeing betw 59 and 65% for individual games at least 4 games. That's gotta rise to 70 or higher for us to win against quality teams! With this bunch I'd settle for 68 to 70% - being that I don't think Pollard can improve very much over the season , unless they get Jim Paxson or BRob in to help
- Intangibles and hustle seem pretty good, not as good as last year but good
- Bench has not been consistent, and our bench was MONEY last year. Often our bench outscored large portions of our opponents last year.
Gotta get some help from Jalen and D Davis this year. Still early. Also seems like playing out of control is one of Kyle Davis' MO. Like London Warren, it has its positives and negatives.

Jordan Sibert is shooting 39% from the field.
30% from Three.
Rollo - they have Pierre listed at 210 pounds. Accurate or not?
In the end, I think it's good Pierre put on the extra muscle this year. Weren't sure what we'd get from Scott and our bigs, so right now he's at 6.5 boards a game - which is quite solid. He's averaging 11.5 points a game.
To me, I'd rather see him get 13-14 points and 5 boards, so he's not consuming major effort rebounding. His shot selection is generally better than Sibert, and if gets the ball inside the box - he's got over 50% shot of scoring. Just can't fall in love with the 3's. Like Sibert.
Other STATS of Interest:
Scott is shooting .588 from field.
Pollard is shooting .690 from the Field
WITHOUT These two we aren't in good shape from the field. So this tells me ARCHIE needs to focus on Inside Out Basketball. Get it to Scott, Pollard, Pierre as first pass and start the Offense from there. Jordan can't take the first three in the first three passes of the offense. He's ONLY at:
30% from 3 right now. Will improve, but def not acceptable.
TEAM is shooting 28% from 3. HORRID
Last, Scott is definitely overachieving expectations. Totally happy with Devon. Its Jalen that's hurting our bigs output. Scott is at 9.7 points/ 7.5 boards.
That's pretty solid for our Center/Big over the past 10 Years. Haven't quite had that production from anyone I can recall in this time frame. Kavs was 5.7/3.5 for comparison's sake last year.

True dat, Flyer 86. The last player we had put up those kind of rebounding numbers was CW, and the last Center we had put up stats like that was Sharky, back in his senior year of 2003-04 (13.1/7.4). Since Finn (and, before him, Waleskowski) patrolled the middle, it had been an ongoing stream of bigs who would be described as "serviceable at best". Alvarez. Stafford. Huelsman. Searcy. Kavanaugh had a decent junior year (9.0/5.9), but then he had his self-control issue, and sank back down to "serviceable" last year. So yes, it's been 11 seasons since we've had a center that produced like that.

Lets see if he can keep scoring 8 or 9 during entire year. That and 7 or 8 boards would give us quality Center minutes. Pulling boards down, getting tips and short J's is enough to clear space for Dyshawn, Pollard and hopefully Jordan goes back to taking it to the rack!
The makings are there for a good run and 2nd or 3rd in A10. Scooch need be consistent with dishing and shot selection. But makings of tourney bid are definitely present.

Golly, the way it's looking now for the A10 we better set our sights on no lower than second in the A10. Or plan on winning the Tourney.

Raven Lee fell to Eastern Mich after some sexual assault charges which were eventually dropped. Between transfers and other situations, EMU has gotten above MAC level talent.
