RPI forecast doesn't have their projections including postseason play up yet, I imagine that will be added in the next couple of weeks. However, depending on who that first round loss was to, it appears that they would end up somewhere around 30 if they finish 5-6 and a 1st round loss in the Big East tournament and around 35 if they finish finish 4-7 including the same 1st round loss.
The strength of the Big East this year will likely propel them into the tournament, unfortunetly they have the potential for their only 2 true turds left on the schedule, home & away with DePaul, then they have a home date w/ St Johns near the end of the season which is projected to finish around 150. If they get those 3 wins and don't lose to either of them in the 1st round of the Big East tournament, they'll end up with an RPI of around 45; I'm guessing that is how they'd end up in Dayton. Drop the rest of their games and one of those 3 plus a 1st round lose in the Big East tournament and they're looking at the NIT.
I haven't watched more than a few minutes of Creighton basketball, I have no idea how much depth they have, I know their PG was their star, by far their most valuable player, so it has to be a shock to lose him for the season, however I would expect a bounce back down the road. I assume they still have some additional talent, and they still have many opportunities at home to pick up solid wins against teams that will either be in the tournament or on the bubble.

I remember when I used to root for Xavier in that thing. Now I don't have to feel all dirty rooting for the A10 when I watch that game.
It was pretty enjoyable game, Bluett went off, but that they were only up 8 or whatever at half time with him on fire like that, I figured there was a good chance they were coming down to earth in the second half.

I don't really ever care which team wins the Shootout, but:
Total fouls:
UC-19
Xavier-29.

No home cooking, different strategies. X was relying on Bluiett outside shooting and why not he was on fire. Cincy relied on driving in the lane creating foul opportunities. Bluiett wasn't drawing any fouls but he was getting treys so each team played to their strengths

That's pretty much what happened. Once Bluiett got hot...real hot...X got away from whatever game plan they had. UC threw up some deep garbage as well, but sent 5 guys to the rim and the fouls piled up!
BTW, JP Macura has turned into a Mack mini-me...whines about EVERY SINGLE call.

Plus, UC was total crap at the line (48 percent!!!). Free throw discrepancy had no bearing on the score. In fact, had UC made a decent percentage of their freebies, we'd have been watching a double-digit blowout.

I watched because it was an intense exciting college basketball game. Some people may be UD basketball fans and only care about the Flyers, while hating all other teams. I am not one of those people. I like college hoops and will watch just about any exciting competitive game including those west coast games that start at 11pm. Some UD fans need to get over their hate/obsession/jealousy of Xavier and just enjoy good college basketball games.
As for the game the Leprechaun took a timeout during the second half and used the whole timeout to go after the refs. The next 5 calls all were in favor of UC, but the game was really won by UC simply bullying X especially on the boards. Also it looks like the Cumberland kid from Wilmington is going to be the real deal for UC.

There is a UC fan at work who told me the game would be on last night. I saw the last 10 minutes of the game. I had not seen either team play more than a few minutes this year. Xavier got hammered on the defensive boards. I think that they were playing a 1-3-1 defense and could not box anyone out. I don't know the strengths or weaknesses of either team, so I am not sure why they chose to be in a zone, but it seemed like a mistake on Mack's part to me.
It seemed like the bigs for X kind of suck.......and Mack is still stupid.

I can safely say that I didn't care which team won or which team lost. In fact if there was a way BOTH teams could lose, I'd go for that!

Xavier's bigs basically all soft is what it boils down to. It doesn't matter what defense X plays those guys gets pushed around and bullied.

I am not jealous of X, they earned where they are. However I have lost total respect of X. For decades UD won 2 of 3 games against X building so large a separation between the two yet UD never dumped them from our schedule. Fast forward X builds a talented program while UD went through the JOB Era and X started beating UD 2 of 3 then all of a sudden they dump UD thinking they are too good now. Nothing lasts forever, there will be a day they wish they still had UD as a rival, karma is hell.

I barely even noticed they were on the schedule as a kid in the 80s. In fact, I used to get them mixed up with Miami (Ohio) because the schedule listed them as Xavier (Ohio), so I grew up figuring that they were just a "local" game like Miami. The big games on the schedule were DePaul, Marquette, Notre Dame. Then those teams dumped us and Xavier (Ohio) became the rival by default. LOL

Luke Kennard was unbelievable in the second half today going 6-6 from three including the game winner with 6 seconds left. Duke trailed nearly the entire game and beat Wake Forest by 2.

After 2014, I never thought I'd be happy to see Duke pull-out a last-second win, but this keeps Wake's winning % against the Top 25 RPI schools the same as ours (i.e. 0.000), with a lot more chances. On the downside, Syracuse's win today means the Orange are "gaining steam".

Also, Georgia Tech beat Notre Dame today. Not to , but GT is now 13-8 overall and 5-4 in-con. More proof that BG is a pretty good recruiter, but not that good as a HC.

Quite frankly, we don't have a single player whom I would refer to as a "big." We have some 3's who have attempted to adjust their games to the 4 and 5 slots. Tough to do against a front-line like VCU's or Rhode Island.

VCUs front line is certainly physical, but they are not any bigger than we are:
G 1 JeQuan Lewis 6’1” 180 SR Dickson, Tennessee
G 2 Samir Doughty 6’4” 185 RS FR Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
G 5 Doug Brooks 6’4” 200 SR Lake Wales, Florida
F 4 Justin Tillman 6’7” 220 JR Detroit, Michigan
F 12 Mo Alie-Cox 6’7” 250 RS SR Alexandria, Virginia
Our seniors can play as physical as the other team wants to play, but the Sophs have got to step up that area of their game .... they all got pushed around like rag dolls....

How many long rebounds and loose balls did VCU secure over our guys standing and starting late? That is desire and hustle, characteristics most of our guys were light on last game.

Northwestern's sixth straight win. It’s their longest Big Ten win streak since the 1932-33 team matched a school record with seven in a row.

I feel sorry for the kid, as he seemed to be a class act when we played them last year (IIRC). However, when it comes to the program as a whole? _avier, meet Karma. Karma..._avier.

Sumner is X's best player, and projected by some to go as a first rounder this year. This ruins his draft chances. The kid has the kind of talent we at UD hope to recruit.

Going down the stretch now.
Unfortunately, as we head into February, any kind of injury can put you out for the rest of what's left of this season. Thankfully Kyle's injury responded to treatment. Cross your fingers.

That's the scariest thing I have heard in a long, long time.......and we get glimpses of it for 4 and 6 minutes stretches each game.

Not sure any UD player in the last 25 years was more valuable than SS. Not the best player or pro prospect but since the end of his freshman year he has spoiled us with his PG play.

Very tough break for him, I wonder if he had purchased the NCAA injury insurance? Seems very likely that he was going to enter the draft this year prior to his injury.
I bet that he might be out next year too, ACL recovery seems to take about a year?

Myles Davis far as i know was considered their back up PG then he quit/got booted from the team. I know nothing about the guy that is their new PG. Tough break for the kid. Never like to hear it. Forgive me if i dont feel sorry for that program and its insufferable fans.

Look only to RI... EC Mathews is about 50% of what he was before his injury.... and that has been over a year... approx. 14 months? But he is getting better with each game.

30 Richmond
31 VCU
@half
Who are we rooting for in this contest?
What makes more sense for Dayton?
-VCU running the table until our date @ UD Arena?
OR
-Richmond winning? Why?

Unless it is late in the season and we need a loss to win the conference, always root for the team you play twice, VCU.

I think VCU is a better team than Richmond, and they are more likely to be there at the end of the season competing with us for the regular season championship. For this reason, I would like to see UR win.

With limited good wins, every game's a landmine. St Mary's and Northwestern in the win column would make a huge difference.

Rhode Island handles Davidson fairly easily. Both teams looked pretty mediocre. Lots of untimely foul trouble, turnovers and terrible shots. I hope they play that way against us. Mathews and Gibbs are nice players, but I will take Scoochie. Davidson is still a couple players short of a full deck.

I was really rooting for Davidson last night, but after building a decent lead, they fell apart.
Rooting for GW today, but they trail Richmond by 9, coming up on 7 mins left.

Barnburner! Looks like Bonnies will win up 66-65 with 0.5 seconds to play. VCU to inbound the ball. BUT wait one shot technical awarded to VCU. He makes it tie game! Crazy

While the fans are certainly culpable, it didnt help that the players were celebrating and pulling their jerseys up. It sure looked from their perspective they thought the game was over.

True, but the T wasn't called on the players. VCU would have had to score with less than a second left.

I disagree with what the announcers were saying 100%. Watched the replay a couple of times, the T was more than likely called on the players, coaches / grad assistants or anyone else who was sitting on the bench and were the first to run onto the floor. The clock clearly stopped on .4 seconds, then miraculously as the floor filled with people time ticked off.
Edit- After listening to this again, the announcers actually said the T was on the fans and the players (lower quieter tone of voice when he says players) for being on the court. Still I put 100% on St Bony bench.

Regardless of whom the T was called on that is one lousy way to lose a game. I assume we will get further clarification regarding the call in the near future.

That is crazy and a ****ty way to lose a game. I said to my wife as soon as the SBU players ran on the floor that they were going to get a T.

Here's the rule. Seth Davis tweeted it out but I didn't want to make everybody click on it.
Key word "preventing continuous play" which didn't happen because VCU never tried to inbound the ball. Therefore they were trying to play. Refs blew it.
We need Rollo's opinion on this.

VCU could not inbound the ball with all the St. Bony bench on the floor.
I even saw a Stanford Tuba player on the court

Doesn't matter. They never even tried to grab the ball to inbounds it and continue the play. They acted like they were calling a timeout. If they had grabbed the ball to inbound it then it should have been a T.
The Bona clock operator should have just let the clock run out and none of this would have been a problem because the refs would have then just said that the bench/fans had thought the game was over. They would have then put 0.5 back on the clock and play from there with no T. So basically the Bona clock operator was too good at his job and stopped it when he should have.

Rams win it on an Antoine Anderson NBA 3 at St Joes. Great game. The Fordham Rams may be trying to not be the doormat of the Atlantic 10 anymore and avoid the rest of the conference wanting to kick them out.
Also Mason is up 85-73 on Lasalle with 4:14 to play. Their coach suspended some players for breaking a team rule too so they are playing shorthanded. It's on channel 640 MASN if you have DirecTV

Lasalle has absolutely quit vs Mason like they did against UD. I almost admire how much the Explorers don't give a **** when they get behind. They absolutely give no effort and are like a pro team that just decides to move onto the next game.

Just saw this. The refs made the correct call. Security guard grabbed the ball and then the VCU player tried to continue the play.
The T was the correct call.

Some of those could be good news, but others could be bad news. For example:
-St. Mary's over San Diego = Good News. We generally want teams that beat us to have high RPIs. Makes it look like our only losses were to the best teams.
-Oklahoma State over West Virginia = Bad News. Okie State is now 15-8, with a win over a Top 10 team, in a highly rated conference. Their record, with this win, might look better than our record with our best win.

Make that 7 upsets in the Top 25. KY gets blown out by 22, and how is that team a Top 20 team? They should have also lost the last game. And how in the world is Oregon not in the Top 5?
UD did not have the blowout of the day, as St Mary's won 71-27.

Wisconsin beats IU in a close one 65-60. You have to think Indiana will have a tough time making the tourney. They have NW and Purdue twice left. IU has gone from Top 5 to can longer see them.

But Indiana made it in 14-15 when they shouldn't have - 20-13 with a 58 RPI. I wouldn't count them out. And UCLA made it that year with a 20-13 record and a 49 RPI. Texas was also 20-13 with a 42 RPI and made it. All made it into the "regular" field and avoided the First Four. We were 25-8 with a 32 RPI and barely earned a spot in the First Four. I would never count out any "power" team out.

Texas was also 20-13 with a 42 RPI and made it. All made it into the "regular" field and avoided the First Four. We were 25-8 with a 32 RPI and barely earned a spot in the First Four. I would never count out any "power" team out.

Wait are you saying that the committee would... Of course you are, and you will probably be right.

I saw that Coach K returned to action yesterday, defeating Pitt at Duke. Duke went 4-3 in his absence.

Indiana a 9 or 10 right now IMHO. Still 3-5 top 50 and 6-7 top 100. Committee has been wrongly rewarding quantity of top 50 wins.

Bama up on #19 South Carolina 46-35 with less than 11 to go. Would be a big win for them... and for us.

Northwestern loses to Illinois at home. They are going to try and find their way onto the bubble.

Back up near the Top 50 even with just a 12-12 record. # 1 SOS in the country.

ESPN has them at 48 today. That's big. But a top 50 ROAD win will prove to be bigger undoubtedly.

while some of the sentiment may be a little harsh/overboard, I don't think it's unfair to look at the future with some worry. There's a lot of talent on the team next year and at this point our 'best' option is a frosh pg. Granted, I'm very excited about him too...but it's reasonable for fans to worry about Crosby's development. It doesn't mean you're not rooting for him and it doesn't mean you're not enjoying this season, but it's a program so you have the right to think about the future while focused on the present. It's not an either/or.

UDPride has them at 47, which is a small difference, but I'll stick to my point, if you are going to reference rpi, you might as well use Chris' version of it as its going to be more accurate than most other sources. Don't trust me, then trust the NCAA who uses it to back check their own version of their rpi for errors. ESPN and many other places often have small errors in their rpi formula.

I watched our game again after I got home, but got sidetracked by the score trailers. Every time I saw the 'Bama/SC score my heart skipped a beat! I found myself cheering for them on my couch, sometimes having to reverse our game to see what I missed. OMG! 4 OTs! I was worn out just watching the trailers. Yay for 'Bama! And Vandy won, too. Love these 2 big upsets by teams we defeated.
