If we lose it is from missed opportunities and poor perimeter shooting.

And defense. Too many layups late in the game, but that's what happens when a team is draining all their outside shots.

not over but if this ends up as a loss as it looks like it most likely will this will be one heck of a painful one. We are in the dance I know but the 1000000000 chances and opportunities we had to take control and failed to convert anything are what makes it hurt...neither team played a good game today

Game over. Flyers gave it all they had. Inability to knock down a few threes and those two errant passes for easy buckets killed them.

8 straight free throws by VCU for a team that is not a good free throw team. And they were 5-13 to that point.

Credit where it's due: VCU stepped up from the free throw line in the last minute. I think UD played it correctly, but VCU just wouldn't miss.
Unfortunately, when were down two, that turnover that let VCU run out and extend to four points threw off everything. It was catch-up from that point.

Amen, bro'. Whatever seed VCU gets, we'd better not get no worse than 1 less. He!!uva game. Those 3s at the end of the first half were the difference.

Exactly, they should feel pretty good going into the tournament. How many games are they going to shoot 16% from the 3 and miss all of those shots around the basket?

What was that graphic at one point: 16 of our 18 field goals were in the paint? I think maybe only Pierre's three came after that, so I'm a bit stunned, actually, that we were in that game right until the end despite chipping away two-by-two. On top of only two three-pointers, I can only remember one or two three-point plays.

Yeah, at one point, I yelled at the TV, "Why don't you show the players who ARE playing!?" :
Oh, w(h)ell, they've exceeded my wildest expectations so far. Why stop now?
The next season starts in 4-5 days. Time to get some rest & take the frustration out on our next TWO opponents,

Three things I hope Dayton takes away from this game:
1. I hope it's reinforced for them that opportunities like regional finals and conference tournament finals don't come every year and that, at the end of the game, while you can question your execution you should never be able to question your effort. I believe that, after last year's loss to Florida and today's loss, they can honestly say they never quit; they might have failed in their execution at times, but they never let themselves fall out of the game.
2. I hope Scoochie Smith realizes the ball is the most important object in the game; nothing happens without it. You must always be focused and you must always keep your teammates focused. Small lapses can have big results.
3. I hope Kendall Pollard realizes how important he is to this team, especially in its current configuration. While he has to remain aggressive, he has to be smart about his fouls. We can't expect Wehrli to gives us as much game after game as he gave the last two days, and when Miller's forced to steal extensive minutes with him it's very difficult.

Don't like that rule. So you trap a guy in the corner with good defense or he can't get the ball inbounds and the coach can just bail him out from the sideline.

Superb thoughts for the upcoming NCAA tournament.

Scoochie had 3 turnovers. I do not remember the third, but one was in the first minute and the last was in the last minute. In between he was flawless with his ball handling against great pressure. Interesting how Smart does not really try to press him with havoc, because he knows Scoochie would eat them up. Could not buy an outside shot, but had 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Sibert gets 6 shots and scores 16 points. Last two days it was all about deny Sibert.
DD was 0-7 and that may have cost us the game. He is just not a clutch shooter at this point.

Scooch was also about 0-7 on jump shots, I think we had about 6 total made jumpers including 3's.
