MNFats, Thanks for having the idea to do this thread, and the guts to stick to your guns. It is refreshing to see someone in this day and age want to stick to only facts.

Thanks MNFats
Regardless of how the last 'ship turns out, the cupboard is not bare. AG has pieces to work with, develop, and time to pull it together. Below is a pretty good stable, injuries aside.
CONFIRMED ARRIVALS:
Jordan Davis
Jordan Pierce
Matej Svoboda
Jalen Crutcher
One TBD, and I hope it's this guy = Obadiah Toppin, a 6-9 forward from Ossining, N.Y.
CONFIRMED RETENTION:
Xeyrius
Mikesell
D Davis
Sam
Landers
Kostas
Crosby
Josh Cunningham

Well, with off-season personnel changes apparently nearly complete ( knock on wood), I'd have to say for a coaching change year, this off-season has gone aboutas well as could be hoped. Very impressed with the AG regime in early returns.

I've always thought once he got here, he would recruit like crazy but we will see how does in-game and can he coach them up/develop them that is TBD... I can't wait to find out.

Right now:
1 scholarship open for the Class of 2018, 5 scholarships open for the Class of 2019. I expect those numbers to change (Mikesell almost certainly to redshirt, Kostas maybe to NBA early as he and his brother blow up - he'll get drafted on potential alone if he shows anything, etc).
I can't wait to see what CAG does with the Class of 2019 with a full recruiting cycle. I think UD's recruiting will reach heights previously unseen here.

Maybe with the announcer section upgrade they could install a text-to-speech function for Bucky. Yeah have their names on buttons and every time a player's name needs broadcast he can just stop talking for that instant, press the button and voila, the Google maps lady states the player's name. Fixed. I predict it will add two years to Bucky's career.

Very interesting season indeed. Just looking down the roster is a bit exciting, with many possibilities. But at the same time a whole bunch of speed bumps. Coaching, development, rehab, and chemistry--not to mention scheduling as well, have all got to mesh.
Very very interesting season coming up.

When I read this I thought, so much for respecting his time at UD. Then I reconsidered. He did not offer until we gave the release. If the commitment is to the coach primarily, then the athlete wants to follow the coach. Would have loved to see what this kid would have done for us.

From Medford's link:
It's easy to see why the one-time Dayton commit, who was recently offered by Archie Miller at Indiana, is drumming up major interest from schools across the country. If he can put up this type of performance against top athletes at the college level consistently, staying in the Class of 2017 and taking his talents to the Division I level next season is well within reach.
I suppose that I do not have a problem with this...we gave him his release, and we have no open scholarships.

We got Obi Toppin as a result of his release. We are better off IMO.

It tugs at me like the Ladontae Henton deal. But in this case I choose to believe that Carter's success in some small way validates the quality of recruits that we retained. Miller and staff had a good eye for talent, and overall we retained a gaggle of them.

I love how a kid who scores SIX points gets an entire article written about him. I'm sure Andre Igudola posterized some kid back in his AAU days. I'm not bashing Naz, I just think it is ridiculous to get all giddy about someone who scored six points in a game...I don't care how loud two of those points were. And we fans wonder why kids don't have any fundamentals anymore? Here's part of the reason why.

Yup. They practice dunking over cars and dream of dunking on "somebody"
Then they go 4-13 from the line and cost their team the game.

Here's your regular reminder that the facts don't always fit the narrative:
This year's overall NCAA FT percentage was the highest ever (70.38%), breaking the record set last year (69.96%).
I guess we have to credit AAU with making kids today better FT shooters than ever since AAU always gets blamed for not teaching kids the fundamentals.

I think you may have missed the point. The kid had one dunk and scored 6 total points and they glorified the dunk without looking at the rest of the game. I really don't care how a kid dunks the ball as long as he plays the game the right way and is a good all around player.

Regarding chemistry... sounds like team is all in with Grant and staff - according to KD:
“Coach Grant and the rest of his staff are amazing guys. The players that are there now love him.”

You're still missing the point. They glorified a dunk in a specific game like it was some type of determine factor in a player's overall game. It's not. Show me how he shoots from 12'. Can he shoot the 3 ball? How does he handle the ball?
There are a million kids who can jump and dunk but can't play worth a lick.

That's not what they did. They also mentioned that he has "drawn a dozen offers from the likes of Washington, Pitt, Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech" and that Indiana had offered. That should answer your other questions unless you think that one highlight is the only reason they offered.

If he is not coming to Dayton I couldn't' care less who he dunks on, or how many points he has unless it happens in a game that matters against UD. This is not sour grapes, it is indifference.

Looks like Flyers98 will get his wish. Committing to Washington is one way to stay off TV since nobody actually gets the PAC12 network

Sounds like Carter wanted to get far away from Buffalo. If you have been there in the winter, you can't blame him.

Carter is actually from Rochester, about an hour from Buffalo. Not quite as much snow, but certainly have their share. Not that they want it to snow there, but they generally know how to handle it. They don't close schools and call the National Guard when there's a threat of a dusting.

Yep Rochester, I stand corrected. Buffalo's average snowfall is 93", and Rochester a mere 84", and Seattle 5". He does need to take a dozen umbrellas.
