Miami Game Thread
The game is always a battle especially down in Oxford
In honor of the game
This game Miami is going to be missing a bunch of their "top" players... Guards Allen Roberts and Orlando Williams will be out... Bill Edwards broke his hand/wrist in their exhibition game so it looks like he won't be playing and their starting center in that game, Vince Legarza, got injured too and looks like he might not play either. So it will be a makeshift lineup for Miami with definitely no depth. **Too Bad Mavunga isn't hurt **
Projected Lineup
PG Quinten Rollins 6’0” 175 SO
SG Josh Sewell 6’5” 198 SO
SF Jon Harris 6’8” 203 SO
PF Julian Mavunga 6’8” 239 SR
C Drew McGhee 6’11” 245 SO

This game is a good test
OMG, I think that clip will give me goose bumps for eternity. What a finish.
This game at Oxford comes at a great time. We have thrashed European teams, exhibition teams, and a bottom feeder. Now we go on the road to a hostile crowd. My guess is the jar will be tougher to fill for us. If we shoot over 50% in this one then I'm really a believer. But these types of games are usually defensive struggles. Who wants it most in the last 5 minutes? An A10-like road game.
Go Flyers!!

I found one also:

I'm not sure how reliable it is. Probably won't know until game time.

I know people are worried about this game as they should be... Miami always plays us tough... but we have won the last 5 meetings, our last loss to them was in Oxford in 2005, so it has been a while

Forget the Dillard playmaking for a second. How about a kid that can make the god darn free throw for a 3pt play. Last year we would have already blown an extra basket by two missed FTs. Dillard earned us that basket back.

Can barely see anything going on with how crappy the WHIO signal is for this game. Perfectly fine during the commercial break of course.

Have we cracked 15 TOs yet? Good lord. UD should be up 15pts the way Miami is playing (lousy). We are not making hay when the hay-making is ripe.

Not a very good first half. If we falter in the second half, its going to be because we never took advantage of Miami's poor first half. We really should be up 10-15 points at intermission. Coles is going to tell his guys they played lousy, couldnt hit the broad side of a barn, and are down just a deuce.
As golf said, it was a half without CJ. Maybe he can be the difference in the second half.

Oliver instead of CJ. That is a bad trade. Turnover city and some bad shot selection. This team is no better than Western Ill.

Amazingly, it was our shot selection from within the arc that I didn't like. CJ should give us a boost as long as he got those fouls out of his system.

Take care of the basketball and be patient enough to get into the offense and things will work out just fine. If they don't who knows how this turns out.

First half positives: defense, rebounding ,and free throws (who would have thought it)
First half negatives: too many turnovers and some poor shot selection
No way Mavunga has another half like that. Hopefully we stay out of foul trouble and CJ heats up. Overall a pretty typical UD vs Miami game.

That was some ticky tack bs. It's forwards battling in the paint.

Miami's player literally ran into Kavs elbow. Not flagrant at all. I don't even know if I'd call that a foul.

How was that even a discussion about a flagrant foul?
Nice 3 by Dillard
Nice D by Josh going the other way

WHIO TV -- Good Picture but...
....lame in all other technical aspects; for the entire 7:30-8:00pm time slot we had the crawl telling us that Entertainment Tonight would not be seen...sometimes with Cassano's Pizza ads running right above it. And Mike "MH" Hartsock decides all UD players should be called by their initials!

Wow. Didn't think Kavs could move like that...or dribble...or fake.

And I didn't think Benson could make a jump shot that far out. Nor did I think Paul had that kind of post up game. I really really like this offense.

Devin is having a bad game.
Paul is playing himself into the starting 5 and will be the starting 2 guard in the near future.

If this was last year, Gregory would find a reason to sub for Williams after he just scored 7 straight points

P Willy is saving us this game.. Luke unfortunately is still a 1 trick pony and huge liability on the court. Hoping CJs fresh legs can bring us home the victory.

Maybe, but Miami would have half the points they currently have (as would probably UD).

I may eat my words someday, but can Clay Mathile just back a dumptruck full of money up to Archie Miller's house to lock him in for life at UD?

CJ is in the same position as CW was last year. He MUST stay out of foul trouble and stay on the court. UD needs his energy, nose for the ball, and rebounds. Everybody playing behind him is just patchwork.

I don't know if this is planned, but I notice we get up and down the court when Dilliard is out vs. In. JP is running the point better than he did last year I've noticed as well.
