The Flyers-UConn series

Most of you will recall that shortly after the Jim Jabir's Flyers gave UConn a run for its money in the Elite Eight a few years ago a three game series between the schools was announced. Auriemma raved about Dayton at the time.

The series as described when announced featured a game at UConn last season, which occurred, no game this season,..... then games at UConn in the 2018-2019 season (next year), followed by a game at Dayton in 2019-2020.

Today UConn released its OOC schedule for next season, 2018-2019. Dayton is not on the schedule. I knew in my bones that when JJ left those last two games would not be played. Too bad.

I never heard of anyone in any sport releasing the following seasons schedule when the current season has not even reached the half way point.

Schedule release....

UConn always releases its future OOC schedule in all revenue sports as soon as the schedule is completed. I presume it does so to generate fan interest. And why not? Schedules are not secrets. Dates are not released....just the names of opponents and whether the games are home or away.

Why wouldn't Dayton release men's or women's OOC BB schedules for next season if the schedules were complete? I think the issue is schedule status. When complete it's made public. We know from experience that UD schedules usually take quite a while before they are finalized.

So despite all the nice talk by their coach, he screwed us. Unlike most people I liked Geno, but no more.

Do we really know any of the facts? From the beginning I thought the first game involved a contract and the second was just a plan. When I next have the opportunity I'll ask Geno what happened.

If this article is correct, it was a contract. http://daytonflyers.com/news/2016/1/...106162525.aspx
The years remaining are 19-20 and 20-21 18-19 was never part of it.

Apparently there was a two year break rather than one as I thought.

Excellent! I hope UConn sticks with the contract. Auriemma will be watching the Flyers over the next two seasons, in my opinion. He will not bring a UConn team to Dayton if he anticipates a 40-50 point blow out. That's no fun for anyone.

UConn on the schedule is good for our program. And we'll be able to show off our sparkling renovated Arena...UConn has nothing close to it.

Thanks for the correction.
