Bienvenido a España

BEVERLY HILLS (MI) -- The University of Dayton Flyers have invaded Spain for a ten day, two game excursion. Who, when and where they will play is unknown at this point and there will be zero live media coverage. Some boxscores may be all that we get. I guess that answers the question I asked in the last "FTS": Who is going? Sounds like the team, coaches and staff and that's about it. Should be a tremendous experience, tho.

David Jablonski of The DDN provides some of the particulars on the Flyers' European Vacation:

UD is among several dozen teams taking foreign junkets:

The one new Flyer who will make the trip is freshman Trey Landers who Archie decsribes as "a pleasant surprise":

Altho he has been with the squad for a year, this will be Josh Cunningham's first opportunity to don the Red and Blue in a game situation:

While in Barcelona, the Flyers will visit La Sagrada Familia, the famous cathedral built by Antonio Gaudi and given tribute in this tune by The Alan Parsons Project:

Before they left, Archie and his staff got their ducks lined up on the recruiting front. David Jablonski nicely provides a list of the top targets:

Recruiting has always been subject to some shady practices. The latest is the "Packet Racket":

As well as the ever popular "Scouting Service":

Speaking of recruiting, there are new social media rules in play, allowing coached to "like" or retweet a recruits Twitter messages. I can't see Archie partaking, but Kevin Kuwik will be all over this:

Let's go to the highlights!

Former Flyer Jordan Sibert has signed to play in Greece:

Archie ranks 304th (out of 321) in terms of leaving a player on the floor with two personal fouls, according to Ken Pomeroy:

Ken Pom flips the situation around and asks players what they consider to be "foul trouble":

I love me some Pink Floyd, but a 27 disc set (including tons of unreleased material) that retails for $699? That's enuf to make anybody "Comfortably Numb."

That’s it “From the Swamp.”
