WSOC: Flyer Comeback Downs Akron 3-2
Game Recap: http://www.udpride.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32338
Pulled off the comeback, but beyond that we can probably burn the Betamax tape of this match. Couldnt trap, pass, win enough 50/50s, hold possession, defend early on, etc, etc. FGCU will crush us on Sunday if we duplicate tonight. Robertson going down does not help -- didnt look good at all.
We did win though. Id rather win ugly than lose pretty.

Right before the winning goal, Golz pulls Rickett from the back and subs in Depot as an extra attacker up top. Pestell also starts cheating a bit up to left mid. The moves worked for the winning goal. Pestell carried down the wing and put a solid cross in the box that Livingston eventually finished off. I have no idea why they did not credit Pestell with an assist on the winning goal. She sure deserved one. Our offense really does run through Pestell.
So many bad traps and poor passes. Pauley takes a corner and can't even put the ball into the field of play. Against a better side than Akron we would have been SOL after going down 2-0.
5-0 FGCU on Sunday - winners over Michigan last week and Ohio State this evening. We will need to play better than tonight to have a chance.

The good news is after 6 matches we've probably won every match we should and lost every match we should based on talent level. We've more or less punched at our weight class which is actually a step forward in my opinion.
The GAA worries me a bit however. Its now above 1.00 and in six games have yet to keep a single team off the scoreboard. And Sunday afternoon could get ugly. FGCU is undefeated and receiving votes in the Top-25 and beat Ohio State tonight. We really dont have a snowball's chance of winning this game but it will be interesting to see if we can keep it respectable like Louisville and Butler. My guess is we'll be chasing the ball for 90 minutes.
We have to start trapping the ball better. It is crippling us in terms of playing the game the way its meant to be played. Costing us boatloads of time, possession, and options on the field. Im not sure why we're struggling with it so much.

Upon further review , the official scorer now agrees with me.
Box score has been changed to give Pestell an assist on the winning goal.
