Rhode Island Game Thread
Let's keep up the momentum boys! But most importantly shove a Loss right in the tool Dan Hurley's face lol... Time to go steal a win in a loud sold out Ryan Center in Kingston.
Game is at 7 PM on Friday Night and will be shown on ESPN2
Projected Starting Lineup:
G 1 Jarvis Garrett 6’0” 175 SO Milwaukee, WI
G 4 Four McGlynn 6’2” 200 GR York, PA
G 32 Jared Terrell 6’3” 215 SO Weymouth, MA
F 45 Nicola Akele 6’7” 210 FR Treviso, Italy
F 12 Hassan Martin 6’7” 230 JR Staten Island, NY
Will be interesting to see if Kuran Iverson will play, hasn't played recently due to a concussion.
They have no depth but all 5 (including Iverson not Akele) all average at least 10 a night. The 3 guards can really shoot.
Get it done boys! Go UD!

Martin has similar build to Pierre. Beefy and 6 6 or 6 7"
They have ANY height over 6 8"? wow. They must shoot it their guards

I would say Martin is more Pollard than Pierre. Long athlete with above the rim game. He is plenty big to man the middle for an A10 team. I believe Earl Watson is also pretty big off the bench.
This game should be a battle. URI's guards Garret and Terrell, who expected to be understudies or at the very least 3rd/4th options this year, have really come around without Matthews.

The team's charter had mechanical problems last night. The flight was delayed for about three hours and the team got in around 11pm. I think this is a good omen for tonight's game Nothing else has seemed to work when we played the Rams in Rhode Island.

Iversion is cleared for tonight

Good news for @RhodyMBB as Kuran Iverson has been cleared as far as concussion protocol. Will be a game time decision; likely to play some.

More bad news @DaytonMBB fans. Kendall Pollard won't play tonight. Continuing left knee pain. Needs a rest.

Agree, Sam is playing very well on both ends. We have to work harder on those ball screens and our ball-handling is a bit ragged.

He's the only sub really available who plays the 4 spot and can give Dyshawn a breather. Plus he is athletic enough to guard Martin.

Scoochie just got bailed out by the ref calling a foul. His fancy hesitation skip or whatever drive move is really close to a walk.

We need cuts to the rim when Sam gets it in the paint. There is no off-ball movement.

Coming out from the under-8:00 timeout Rhode Island already had seven more field goal attempts than us. They were shooting a decent percentage - just under 50% at the time - but thriving on shear volume.

Also can we find a school to hire Craig Robinson so we don't have to listen to his horrible color commentary ever again.

I think I saw that shot by Scooch only one other time, it was by Roosevelt Chapman.

Scooch has a future with Barnum Bailey. The only thing missing from that shot was the trapeze.

Xman just needs to hack that guy right there. No reason to give up a layup if you aren't in foul trouble

Sam Miller with a very timely tip-in at the 1 second mark! Sam looks so much more agile and athletic tonight.

Yep. If he isn't going to defend we might as well play Wehrli.

Sam has a little bit of Kevin "Black Hole" McHale in him when he is down low. Once the ball goes into him, it ain't comin' back.

Laphonso Ellis, says we could win a game in the NCAA tourny. A current 19/17 ranked team and he sticks his neck out to say we could win a game

Good First Half

Anyone else think his vocal tone sounds like _yron _arkin of _avier? Almost gives me the shivers to hear him! 😱
Also, gotta love the English on those shots by Sammy and Scoochie. They should have gotten style points for those! 🤗
Up 4 at the half in a barn where we haven't won in over a decade? Yeah, I'll take that!
GO FLYERS!!

Followed up by saying we definitely have a chance to make it to the second weekend. "Hell, I said they have a chance to win one game, I might as well go all in..."

Sam our leading scorer at half. Who would have predicted that one?
Steve our only guy with 2 fouls. They have two non-starters with 2.

I hate these uniforms on TV. Too dark and the numbers do not have enough contrast.

Sounds like he put on the Freshman 15 before the first day of classes, and has lost 10 of it. Very good mobility, and decent hops (especially when you watch the replay of that tipin to end the half).
Ah, what a joy - watching players develop as the season progresses!

Gotta love Laphonso Ellis saying an ESPN/Lunardi projected might be able to win a game in the NCAA tournament. Power 5 bias at its best.

I thought that he was being sarcastic and I do recall him saying earlier this year (not during a UD game) that UD was a team that could be really tough in March and do damage in the NCAAs.

Dribble penetration and the kick-out. Kyle needs to turn on his defensive mode or McGlyn is going to pull a Mason on us.

Agree based on this year, but he was amazing at Gonzaga in DC and he has considerable potential. I was very pleased to learn that he picked UD and hope to see him be a key part in our future.

I'm beginning to wonder about Kyle Davis being our defensive stopper. Two straight games he has been lit up by small shooting guard. No reason to help on the first McGlynn 3 and didn't trail on the last one. I bet Cooke is on McGlynn next possesion.
Well Archie just yanked him instead.
