I am watching the Syracuse/Baylor game...

and I have concluded that we could have competed with Syracuse. Baylor's inside game has been totally muted by the Orangemen, but outside of that success, Syracuse does not appear to be dominant team. I would like to have seen what we could do with this perceived elite team.

It would have been awsome to beat the Zags, Baylor, then Syracuse in one weekend, but that's too much to ask for, even on Christmas.

I'll take the 3rd place finish with a smile. We beat a BCS team, a top 25 team, and almost another. All three games were televised nationally and we looked great.

Overall a huge step forward, and a great start to the season at 6-1.

I honestly feel we had the ability to win this tournament. It could have been glorious.

We still wrapped ourselves in partial glory with how we performed in this tournament. This team can be very good. We have some early signs of swagger.

Interesting game. It was actually somewhat similar to last night's game, as The Cuse led by double digits most of the game, and Baylor started to make a run late. Bilas commented that Jim Boeheim had decided that his team needed to outscore Baylor and not just rely on defensive stops, and Boeheim said the same in his post-game interview. Incidentally, Baylor scored the same amount of points as they did last night (67), except The Cuse continued to attack and put up 74 for the win.

Bilas was still talking about Dayton as time was winding down, and McDonough (Syracuse grad) interrupted him to start talking about The Orange again. Haha. Bilas said of all the teams there, he was really impressed with Dayton. And then McDonough quickly started talking about The Cuse again...

Bilas was impressed because we looked great for most of the tournament. It is awesome that he could not stop talking about us during the championship game.

This is the best stretch of games the Flyers have played since the NIT run. I know Priders were concerned about defense, especially after those first two games. Well, except for the rain of threes and some domination of the paint by Baylor and Cobbs' outburst, the defense has been very good. Hands, hands, hands have been all over the court! Both Robinson and Scott are improving in terms of moving their feet and hands on defense. Also, with the emergence of Kyle Davis, we just may have the answer to some of the quick point guards in the A-10 who have schooled us in recent years.

UD has had the guards to compete on the offensive end. What we haven't had is a ball stopper on D. Price thus far has impressed me with his ability to keep his guy in front of him. His D on the Baylor play to end the game was very good. If that continues it bodes well for the Flyers because I think they've got a lot of options on O. Last night Robinson played very well. Consistency ala Waleskowski or Ashman would go a long way this year. All the options would be available and the kick outs to Sibert would be lethal. Even out to Oliver if his shooting continues.
