school down south
is no longer in our conference so watching them drop one to Iowa brings a smile to my face. I don't have to pretend to hope they win for our conference.

Funny thing is that they have a thread in which one of the fans made fun of UD for choking against Baylor after being up big. Well, the musties were up like 15 with 10 to go and lost in OT. Of course they are already making excuses about being a young team and about Semaj being out with cramps....but Iowa's best player was out with cramps as well. It would break my heart if they lost every game this year......just shatter it

Watched the game. Really poor coaching by Chris I will smack your face Mack. Their defense is terrible. They chuck up bad 3's and run little offense. In the overtime they were down by 2 or 3 and kept throwing up 3's with no timeouts till the end.

At like 60 RPI, they would hurt our SOS so would only give them a buy game at UD arena.

UD recruited Devyn Marble who scored 30 vs. X in this game, but I think BG knew he was a virtual lock for Iowa due his dad playing there. Sorrry to hear that he got hurt.

That Stainrook reminded me of so many Musketeer players of the past. All that dude did was moan and cry on every foul called on him. Dude was a classic crybaby. Again, it all falls back on Chris Mack. X has a lot of talent, but Mack sucks as a coach. His coaching cost them that game. The team played out of control.

At western Michigan he was known as a dirty player. I am fairly certain he was suspended while at WMU and was going to be kicked off the team if he didn't transfer. I know he was not well liked around the MAC.

The shame of it all is if our guys can play like they did in Maui this might have been the year to break the streak. I feel like we could definetely match up with them and have a good chance of winning.

I used to track X scores regularly and sort of rooted for them in non-conference games strictly for the good of A-10's stature. Our home-and-home with them every year was unquestionably the highlight. Now that they're gone, I'll miss the series. But I have no feelings about them -- not anger, resentment, envy, sadness, abandonment. Nothing. X, you are dead to me. Let's just beat who we play, and we'll have plenty to be excited about.

Sad just sad...my heart pumps peanutbutter. The once mighty X is now just an x and third to bottom of the uncapitalized alphabet and in the heart of many flyer fans.
What goes around comes around....while Mack is no JOB; he won't be taking them to the promised land. Without proposition and thug players will they be able to compete in the NBE?

Butler looked good today. They were unlucky like us versus Baylor. Amazing how they consistently put together great teams the last 10 years. However, the 1 point loss versus Ok. St. was the type of game they always seemed to win with Brad Stevens (yes he would not have shot the foul shots, but they seemed to always prevail in close ones).

I have every confidence (based on pure blind faith) that we'll get another chance in Rivertown, and from what I heard via radio from Maui, if we can stay on this trajectory, those Carter photos will be comin' down!

Cool! So now, we get to play the " If USC beats Xavier by 5 on a neutral court, and we beat USC by 12 at home, and there's a 5-point home court advantage..." game!

What I will miss is the excitement level in the Arena. X replaced the Notre Dame rivalry (with the "sit down Digger" chants). Who will bring that level of excitement to the arena?

For the past 5-10 years the excitement level was manufactured through a rivalry. If this yeam is playing LaSalle, UMass and Richmond with FIRST PLACE in the balance, there will be more excitement as a game against X that determines whether the flyers are going to be .500 in conference!

I could care less what happens with Xavier, one way or the other. They don't want to play us and it appears they don't even want us in their conference. As far as I am concerned, out of sight out of mind.
Let's hope we can get fired up about playing in the ncaa tournament. Having a conference game as the highlight of the season isn't much to look forward to

They are now losing by 23 at the under 12 min TV TO. It certainly looks like they have packed it in. Lose today and they will not have won a game in the tournament.

Word on the street is that three of their main guys were in the casino until 2 AM. I think one was a starter who didn't get the start today. Guess some things never change down there.

They have a long way to go before they are worthy of another lashing at UD Arena. They have taken their ineptitude international. They are the worst team in that Bahamas tournament.

Outside future chances if we end up in NBE then I'd support ending the series...there really isn't any huge upside to playing X...it's a non conference rivalry that fans, coaches and players expend a lot of energy on creating potential trap games on front and backside of the ooc game. The last thing we need in non conference campaign is large distractions...don't renew.

Of note, Dayton would have the #1 RPI in the Big East right now. Xavier currently has the worst.
Just poking a little fun. I know, its early. Xavier will get better. They always do.
This loss helps us however as we play USC. I believe not playing Xavier is the best thing that could happen to us right now. Forces us to focus on ourselves. We've been in XU's shadow for so long its given us a complex we cannot shake. Now we can just work on ourselves and not worry about what others are doing.

reminds me of "The Great Outdoors"
Roman (Akroyd): "I was picking my moment."
Chet (Candy): "You were pickin' your nose!"

Feel sooo bad for them.
"While Christon bounced back for 21 points against USC, Xavier trailed by as much as 23 in the second half before making a late charge to make the score more respectable."
Wonder what it feels like to be down 23 points with 4 minutes left in a game that is for SEVENTH Place? Out of 8.

X got suckered into playing too fast the last two games. They are built to play in the 60s grinding it out in the half court. They are abysmal at the line & streaky from behind the arc so they lose through attrition in higher possession game. In the half court they can generate good shots with Semaj and Stainbrook. I don't know if Mack doesn't realize they should follow last year's blueprint or the players aren't buying it.

Semaj is like a glorified London Warren without the defense. Having nearly zero shooting skills from the point guard position is a killer for any team. You better have four other guys who can light it up from outside. Having a pg who can only drive for points does terribly unnatural things to an offense.
And, as a team, they are putrid from the line.
X made its living off of extremely physical defense last year (old-time George Washington style), even though they were just an awful offensive team. The rug got pulled from under them with these new rule changes. This year, they can't keep themselves in a game by hand-checking hard on D. Their low skill level is exposed now.
It all started with the blow-up of the gangsters. Mack was forced to clean house by the administration when things got truly embarrassing. It's a cautionary tale about what happens when gangsters are encouraged to run the program by the coach.
