Game is running on ESPNU RIGHT.
Dayton at Davidson is already running on ESPNU right now...it is late first half in the replay.

I thought archies use of the time outs was perfect. We have had coaches in the past that held on to them like their life depended on them.

I actually agree. Archie has a tendency to take timeouts home to Morgan but tonight he actually used them at key points in the game.

Watching again, that whole last 5 minutes of regulation belonged to Kendall Pollard.

Thinking back over the last 5 minutes of regulation, I think one of the key plays was when Kendall came around Aldridge on that post-up to tip the ball out of bounds. Even though Davidson got the ball back (and their fans were screaming for a foul - which wasn't there), they had < 10 seconds to run a play, and they failed to score on that possession, IIRC. Kendall tipped the ball and wound-up on the ground, but he won that battle, and our defense held. A critical play at a crucial juncture.

Just watched it. 6 sec on the shot clock when KP tipped it out. We ended up stealing the inbounds pass, though the next possession ended up with a shot clock violation on a Cooke air ball. That was all-out heart by KP to tip that ball though.

I'll watch the game again tomorrow on the recorder. I'll be calmer, lol, and can zap the commercials. I was glad for the OT considering we had been down 13, but YIKES! Those 3s came out of nowhere, just like XW's did in the other game. They left him wide open after double teaming him down the court. He went up to shoot each time and we stopped breathing, but YESSS! DC started panicking after that. Love that game! After all their come-back wins this season, nobody should ever count them out.

Watch the Flyer bench when X hits his two free throws in OT. It was great, if a bit Monmouth-seque.

Cooke had two huge assists late this game. Drive in lane, kickout to Kyle oon the wwing for three. Then in OT, a sweet bullet from the top of the key, through traffic, to a wide open Smith.

I think our bench mob while always celebrating all the good that happens, has a special bond with the other players that have been somewhat in their position over the past couple years. You can tell when XW does something they go crazy. I'm sure it's same with RM and John C and hopefully SM when he finally gets playing time again.

I don't understand Cooke's inconsistency on FTs. And what I guess drives me crazier is that he is worse when they are crucial. Almost the opposite of Kyle Davis who seems to nail crucial FTs but will miss some early in the game.

That's great but the bench should never resort to any antics that make them the story. I don't think it will happen but I really hated the whole Monmouth bench story last year.
As for SM (Sam Miller) getting playing time I'm 99% sure that's not going to happen any time soon.

I can guarantee he could have done worse than Cunnigham. Josh bobbled the one finish but he at least defended and hit 2 free throws that Sam wouldn't have drawn. Any minutes of Josh playing are better than Sam even though Josh is obviously not even 75% healthy.

Guarantee huh? Really? Sam Miller has the ability to get some points. And not sure his defense could've been much worse. I'm just saying that Cunningham had a lousy game tonight, which of course is unforeseeable. Not saying SM is a better player but he's not totally useless as you are making him out to be. I'm guessing that AM has pretty much put him on the end of the bench while making him work his butt off on defense in practices. Sam Miller is probably going to take that big step next year.

It's obvious that Archie is going to play Josh before Sam. Sam did nothing to prove that he deserved playing time while Josh was injured. Sam might be able to hit a 3 pointer every now and then but he is not going to play this year unless there is extreme foul trouble.
Sam may improve and be a valuable resource in the future but he is not this year. Or he could get Criped!

Sure, first it was DD, then it was Crosby and now Miller who's going to downgrade. So far only two of AM's recruits have transferred and one had nothing to do with his level of play and the other was his very first recruit. When will they ever learn?

You could be right. I'm guessing there will be a game or two down the line this season that calls for his style of play. Won't be a lot of minutes, but other than Gavs, I've never really seen an AM player outside his Freshman year relegated to the bench for the remainder of a season.

Smitty you need to calm down. Nobody is trying to slander or attack these kids. We are just pointing out their deficiencies. Can they improve? YES. Could they not improve? Yes. Take a breather and realize that there is no guarantee on any of them.

You're right. The frog played a few key minutes in the sweet 16 game, but that was all he did even though it was very important. Sam is not going to have a role with this team no matter what.

Well, that wasn't aimed at you, that was aimed at the remark that he'll be playing for Winthrop next year. I think my comment was totally appropriate for that kind of prediction.
Also, looking at AM's track record, name his recruits that didn't improve? Jalen Robinson maybe but we didn't get the full 4 years out of him. Gavs maybe. Those are his earliest recruits. It seems to now be a pattern that they all get it at some point and I'm betting that Sam Miller will also. So will he improve? Odds say most likely.

Yes, but as you said regarding SM, that was due to foul trouble when MK, DS and JR all got in foul trouble in the first half against Stanford.

Sam will have a role on this team if he wants it. The only question is if he would rather transfer to play more minutes at a lesser program or stay and play a backup role (most likely) here.
Unlike some of you, Miller doesn't seem to throw anyone in the garbage heap. He just keeps working with the guys until they are in a productive spot.

Watched again... Pollard was a beast.. tough rebound & putback, steal, great attacking drives, relentless, diving for loose ball, great D on Aldredge late.. just flat out hustle, only thing is FT shooting - missed two late. But a double-double.

It's a NY/Jersey thing. The biggest offender is former Dukie Alaa Abdelnaby who pronounces our school "Day-un."

Capel was calling Cooke the "Swiss Army Knife", and it's true. He has really worked this year to become a passer/defender/ball-handler/slasher/whatever-we-need-when-we-need-it guy for this team. Loved his defense against Gibbs last night. Gibbs couldn't shoot over him, and couldn't take him consistently off the dribble drive. Him throttling Gibbs was one of the key elements of last night's comeback.

The "Daydun" especially must be a Jersey thing. One of my best friends from my undergrad years, who was from inside the Philly/Trenton/NYC triangle, always said "Daydun", and his son (who was born and raised in the Miami Valley) also says "Daydun". Kinda funny, actually.

As many of us do, fans from other teams read this mb. Think about outsiders reading this. What bunch of whiners. Complaining about pronunciation. I don't know if it is an Ohio thing because it is that way in NE Ohio - talk about inferiority complex. I grew up in NJ and NJ is the butt end of many a joke but I never heard people that bent about it. Oh and one more thing.......
Scoooooooooochie Smith from 3! (Sorry C time).
It is a great day to be a Flyer!

Unlike some of you, Miller doesn't seem to throw anyone in the garbage heap. He just keeps working with the guys until they are in a productive spot.

I'll stick-up for Sam Miller, here, as well.
No, he hasn't developed like X has. No, he hasn't been showing the same level of determination on the court that Chip has. But I'm sure Archie and his staff haven't thrown him on the scrap heap, and are working with him (as time allows, at this point in the season) to shore-up the weak points of his game. And I've noticed that, as timeouts get called while UD is in the midst of a rally, he's often the first guy out there to meet and congratulate his teammates. So he still is a part of the True Team. I want guys on my team who can be happy that their team is succeeding, regardless of the role they're playing in that success.
Yes, Sam has a ways to go to catch up to his classmates as far as on-the-court contributions are concerned. But just 10 days ago, many on this board (including yours truly) were ready to give-up on Crosby, and then he went and played 2 of the best games of his career. I was wrong about Crosby. And I hope (and believe) that, in the not-too-distant future, the naysayers will be wrong about Sam, too.
Work hard, Sam. Listen to your coaches. Feel the support from your teammates (and especially your classmates in 2K19). And when you get your next chance, be ready to make the most of it. You. Can. Do. It.

Maybe not. I was watching the game before and they were talking about how Monmouth has basically the same tournament resume this year as last, but they are not being talked about as much for an at-large bid primarily due to missing the publicity the Bench Mob brought last year.
