Pollard In Top Ten
Pollard's massive block that wedged the ball between the backboard and the rim clocked in at number 3 on Sportscenter's Top Ten this morning!

It should have made the top 10; that was one incredible block...one of the best I have ever seen by a Flyer.

We've had some monster blocks in our history, and I haven't seen them all. Only 60 years worth. That's the most astounding one in my experience. Frank Iguodala had one in Malibu that may have been the highest on the board ever. But pinning this one the way Kendall did wins the pole position. And he has 2 1/2 more years to best that.

We were sitting there and when Severe got the ball ther was no one within 20 feet on a breakaway. When Pollard came from so far back we all just stood there in our section in awe. When you look at how much ground he made up, it was just an amazing block and showed great hustle. No tired legs there.

Thanks Glen. I could watch those over and over again. I wish we had Chris Wright on this team today...in a way, we do. I have referred to Pollard as a "poor man's Chris Wright."

Thanks for the link. I thought it might be on, but forgot to watch. I think there was another stuck ball this season. Anyone remember? Maybe my mind is playing tricks.
UDee79--glad you IDd Chris Carter. I wondered who said that.
There was a little girl sitting in front of me and every time we yelled "Kendall"...hit the free throw...good rebound, etc. she'd look back at us with confusion. Finally, her mom told us her name was Kendall, too, and she thought we were talking to her, lol. Once she realized she wasn't the only Kendall in the house, she relaxed.

I just looked at the CW highlights. Yikes! Alley Oop from a pass at mid-court! I had forgotten about that one. Breathtaking!
After seeing the great plays he made with the Bucks, it's hard to believe he's not still there. I know that's not the full story. Seems to be doing well overseas.

No way folks, you're just giddy. CW made plays at least that good night in and night out. It's a great play but CW had better.

Actually there was a block ball stuck between the rim and backboard exactly like the one yesterday except this one was in the womens game as Jodie blocked the ball and stuffed it. Didn't make sports center though as women seldom if ever do.

Seen CW block many a shot but never saw him come out of nowhere 20 feet behind the dribbler and block the ball like Pollard did.

CW's highlight clip was 90% inhuman stuffs. But his blocks were relatively quiet, albeit very effective. Pollard could put a YouTube blocking highlight clip together already.

There was a block CW had in one of his first games as a frosh. On the baseline about 4 or 5 feet from the basket, someone tries to shoot a short jumper over him and ha blocks it with theball at about its apex. Wish I could remember which game that was, but i do remember seeing it online. It was unreal.

Pollard - the Poor Man's Chris Wright

I agree - there are definitely some similarities. I think CW was probably a little bigger and stronger, but Pollard might be more mobile.
Chris Wright came on board with a ton of expectations, and had to battle through some injuries and team unrest during his Flyer career. Historically, though, there have been few Flyers who could change the complexion of the game the way Chris Wright could - just by stepping on the court. He was a major presence.
Kendall Pollard is more of a lunch-pail guy, tough as nails, just getting it done. He wasn't expected to be the Savior of the program, so he didn't come here burdened with unreasonable expectations. He is flourishing in Archie's system, and it's been a pleasure to watch him grow.
Just my 2 ¢ . . .

Pollard's off-the-ball court instincts are way ahead of what CW's were at this juncture in their development. On offense he moves to the open court, and on defense he is aware of the "holes" and migrates toward them. The only persistent scary trait, that is getting much better, is that A-train look in his eye when heading downhill with the ball at mid-court. lol.
I think he gets it that he has to get the defender's hips and shoulders turned. That at least gets the ref hedging in your direction for the call.

I was in the upper arena (way up) and I think it was even more like 30' he made up. Most amazing effort I can recall. I really can't believe he even tried to block it. I am sure Severe thought Pollard was just running down to inbound the ball after the layup :-).
I bet opposing coaches will be using that clip and teaching not to "coast" in for the layup when #25 is on the floor.

Im actually quite shocked some of you were shocked at the block. As soon as Severe got the ball and I saw Pollard cross halfcourt, I said to the person next to me, "hes screwed."
As God is my witness.

What is a shocker to me is how many of our players are blocking shots and not fouling. Someone has been coaching our young men how to block and avoid contact with anything other than the ball.

We are seeing a team of coaches second to none in the country. All the little things are improving. Player development is off the charts.

I watched it in slow mo replay several times. it's amazing how he slows down right before he blocks the shot so he doesn't foul.

I liked it when Superman would trail a play and time the block from behind. I also saw him catch shots in the air, amazing.
