UD's next big visit is in 2 weeks when their likely top recruit target regardless of position in PG McKinley Wright shows up on campus... Hopefully they can lock him down.
A potential guard trio of McKinley Wright, Jordan Davis and Darryl Morsell would be ridiculous.

I ate at the Chick-fil-A in Irmo, South Carolina last year on the way back from Florida. Little did I know I was near a future Flyer. Come to think of it, my wife was wearing a UD shirt. Maybe Jordan was there and saw her shirt. That's it...she gets all of the credit!

I wonder why S. Carolina and Clemson weren't a factor? Kinda surprised they didn't offer. Of course he could have sent the signal that he wasn't interested. If we go off of who did offer, I would say that this is a good start to '17 class.

If that's the case, it may be like the SS, KD, KP recruiting class, and Archie wants to stay until that class graduates. Then he gets another tremendous recruiting class after that.....

Looks as if he is a remake of a young Scoochie. Same tools in the box. Plus maybe a frame that will fill out even better.
His full name could be Jordan "Sibert Kyle" Davis.

So i am absurdly ignorant to our recruiting unless its a presence in the paint, is this Davis guy a consensus 3 star, fringe 4 maybe? I know McKinley is probably a 4 and our biggest target right now, what about this Morsell guy, either his name slipped my mind or i just haven't heard of him?
I know stars mean next to nothing but i like knowing what the pundits think and also who else was after them.
After all Chris Johnson and B-Rob were both 2 stars, so the stars are a concrete way of evaluation.

Dayton area code
He said that was a complete coincidence, he's had that in his twitter handle for a while

I asked @jordandavis937 a while ago about the last 3 numbers in his twitter handle... "I picked three random numbers." His new home is #937.

Davis is probably a high 3 star, McKinley is probably a low 4... Morsell with an amazing summer has turned into a top 70 player overall in the country.
All 3 have had great summers

Davis plays for the Andrew Wiggins sponsored Team Loaded NC, where his teammate is 2018 UNC commit Rechon Black. Davis was the leading scoring throughout this summer's Adidas Uprising (the equivalent of the Nike EYBL), shooting right around 40 percent on three point attempts. And if you've watched any of the highlight clips, you can see he's got plenty of athleticism to go with that stroke. Great get by Archie and co.
If RTs from an assistant coach count for anything, Dayton is all over Darryl Morsell. Kuwik retweets him with abandon. Stiff competition there (Villanova, Maryland, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech), but the staff is definitely giving him the full court press.

Clemson is full up on shooting guards for 2017. They are in on a couple of highly rated point guards, but not sure they will take another.
South Carolina has maniac Frank Martin as a coach, so that's reason enough... but if you need another, they have something like 7 guards currently on scholarship.

Jordan's videos indicates that he is a very unselfish player. His shot selection is excellent and he can finish around the hoop. Something I notice as well was his ability to shut down the passing lanes on defense. His hands are good and he anticipates very well. He looks like a good pick-up to me. I could see him playing either guard position.

There is a lot of video on this guy on the web. Promoters did a good job. Rivals has him as a 3 star. I agree with all the comments above. You folks are very clear eyed on your comments. I agree with above, he looks like Scootchie Smith. They list him anywhere from 5'10" to 6'4" on the web. His weight is reported all over the place on the web. He looks solid, to me. He does have a bad habit of kicking his right leg forward on his jump shot. If i was a referee, i might call him for an offensive foul on some of those shots just to send the message that it is not appropriate to clear out with your right leg. I think Archie can easily correct that posture. I was wondering the same thing about Frank Martin in Columbia South Carolina not being in the mix on recruiting. Above poster gave a very nice explanation. Thank you for the clarity.

Jordan appears to have a mid-range jumper, a rarity in today's basketball, and a great tool.

David Jablonski✔@DavidPJablonski
Coach Matthew Brown, of @DutchForkBball, describes @DaytonMBB recruit Jordan Davis as a gym rat who has been on varsity since 8th grade.
David Jablonski✔@DavidPJablonski
Brown expects Jordan Davis to become Dutch @DutchForkBball's all-time leading scorer during his senior year. Passed 1,000 points last year.

Steph Curry & his partner have drawn a lot of fouls doing that. I was really surprised when they called an offensive foul on him during the nba finals at a critical time

More times than not such a play results in a defensive foul call. Anytime the shooter goes down, the referees will look to the defender for the foul. Steph Curry and Clay Thompson aren't the only ones who do it. Kevin Love does it as well. In fact, it has become a common play in both the NBA and college games.

He is the first. Though not really that unusual. The Flyers have only recruited from 25 states in their history(SC makes the 25th).

I have a friend who is the head basketball coach at a HS in the Carolinas that has had a lot of recent success (public school state championship, multiple kids currently playing college ball). Without my prompting, he texted me last night soon after Davis’ verbal.
In his words: “This kid can play. We played them this summer at a team summer camp and he did not miss the entire game. They were the only team all summer to kick our a**”.
Obviously one game at a team summer camp is a small sample size, but I respect his opinion so this is good to hear.

Posterizing dunk
I'm not sure how many saw this posterizing dunk by Jordan Davis, but it is impressive:

I think you're talking about a dunk by another kid from South Carolina, Jordyn Adams. Jordan Davis tweeted the video though.
Is this the one?

An entire highlight video of nothing but pull up mid-range jumpers off the dribble, passes, and playing defense. I'm in love.
Does not look crazy explosive, but as we all know, that does not make a basketball team win games. Putting the ball through the hoop does, and this kid might be the best shooter on the team (set shot + off the dribble) his first day on campus. Great form.

UDBRIAN and TommyGola, thank you for your comments. I hear what you are saying. You mean that this right leg thrown forward motion is an intentional practiced motion rather than a bad shooting form habit. I am taking a note of Curry, Thompson and Love. I will watch their motion once the NBA pre-season starts on October 1, 2016. This must be one of the tools that JACK72 was mentioning?
The only shooting form that i usually watch is Dirk Nowitski's patented step back jump shot.

Just a heads up... Jordan's most recent person that he just started Following on twitter is one McKinley Wright.
McKinley followed him back... I am not sure who initiated though.

I use to live in Dallas and had season tickets to the Mavericks when we got Dirk and for his first 4 years in the NBA. He's always had this shot. It's a thing of beauty. Ahhhhhh the memories!

I may have a reason now to check out a Dutch Fork HS game this season. Start the pipeline from SC to UD.

His fadeaway J where he kicks his leg out reminds me of Tony Stanley's fade.
