There is no other team in the conference we could have played that poorly against on the road and won. That was nerve-racking.
Better bring it against the Bonnies Saturday.

Outrebounded and outshot on the road and they pull it off. Most any other year we lose that game.

Archie said some nice things in the post game about one player Baby D. Hopefully he is over the hump. Leading scorer with 12 on 4-6 threes.
Pollard making 9 free throws was also big.

Ugly win...nothing wrong with that. Tough on the road, glad we broke the close loss pattern. Good teamworfk won this game.

Very revealing interview Archie just did with Steve Wolf. Gave props to DD and even to Jordan for the late FT's and for breaking up a play ("sniffing it out"). But the most telling moment was right at the end when AM walked away with a look of absolute RELIEF.

That was a gritty win. They really played great on defense. Pierre put the team on his back in the second half.

Reading through this thread someone needs to turn up the power on Maddog07 invisible fence collar. Darn does that guy get annoying on here, then goes AWOL when we pull out the victory. Learn to relax a bit dude.

We had 12 steals tonight. When was the last time we had that many?

The 2 or 3 steals by us were in fact gimme turnovers by SLU. THEIR offense was putrid, pathetic, horrendous the final four minutes. Thank you Billikens.

We entered tonight 36 in kenpom and finished last year at 38 (yes after Elite 8 run). I do not understand all the doom and gloom; talk of tiredness and short bench. We lost to 2 to top 100 teams on the road by a total of 3 without getting any calls or good bounces. VCU beat @St Louis by 2 in closing seconds, it happens.
UD will fnish between 22-8 and 24-6. Need a little luck and UD makes 2nd straight NCAA and who knows what happens next.

That's vintage SLU. Terrible offense, great defense. If you have a good offense and a half way decent defense you should beat them. If you have about the same team as they do, like a lot of BG's teams, you wind up going to the wire with them and losing.

Just remember when you start chalking up a loss before the final buzzer--It ain't over till it's over. D)
Personally, I think it helped when I suddenly realized I had forgotten to change into my Flyer shirt. I did it right away about half-way through the 2nd half and we slowly started to take charge, lol.
Now it's time to blow away SBU or squeak by, I don't care. It would be nice to have another game like Fordham where we could breathe the whole time. SBU may come in thinking they're hot stuff because they beat VCU, but we need to take care of business. No home losses allowed.

Outrebounded by the #331 rebounding team in D1...yet coming home with a win. I'm taking some comfort in the fact that SLU also took VCU and UMASS to the wire at Chaifetz.

I think its probably a conditioned response. We have been a bubble team alot in the last 15 years, and unfortunately on the wrong side several times.
We just have no margin for error right now against bad teams. Like ESPN bubble watch said, we have to avoid a bad loss in our next 5 games(tonight included).
St Bona wont be easy. At Duquesne wont be easy. At St. Joes wont be easy. We would have lost to all 3 of those tonight the way we played. If we can win the next 4, I think we can breathe easier. Win at VCU and we are in great shape. If we lose at VCU, I think we have to beat URI and Lasalle or it will take a run in the A-10 tourney to make the Big Dance.
For me the stress is intensified as a fan because I desperately want these guys to make the Big Dance for their sake. They have fought so hard, against ridiculous adversity. To make the tourney would truly be magical for them and all of us diehard fans.

I don't think any luck is needed. Right now we are probably in the 8-9 seed range and sitting pretty good. If we win the games we should win we will be in with room to spare. Have you seen the other teams on the bubble- some have really bad resumes.

The way we were playing it had L written all over it, fortunately L is S LU's middle letter. Not every team is going to gift wrap a win for us.
Those who are criticizing those with negative comments especially late in the game are not being honest with themselves if they saw a victory. Just so happens we got help from our friends.
Easy to take the high road after a victory and the game is finally over. Remember these are A-10 refs, enough said.

Interesting anomaly. SLU didn't score a point in the last 4 minutes of the game. And a lot of freaked out posters didn't post in that same 4 minutes. There are plenty of teams winning just like we did last night when they play an ugly opponent.
The Selection Committee doesn't care HOW you won or lost, nor how long it took in the game to do it.

The difference between a very good team with very good players, and a so-so team that needs emotion to win, is the former can make the plays and win when they have to. Davidson is an example. When they are psyched, the are great, when they are not they lose. We had some teams like that when BG was here. This UD team is different. They can turn it on when they have to.
Down 6 in OT on the road, we almost won at GW. And last night we made the plays when it was crunch time. This team is special.
