Player Evals and offseason development

Now that season is over, assume AG and staff will have meetings with players to review performance and plan for offseason development. Going down the roster of this year's players, wondered what others thought regarding in season development this year and then one thing to work on in off season. My thoughts:

Obi: Huge improvement. Work on defense/positioning.
Mikesell: Major improvement - healthier. Work on three point shooting - he seems like he should be a guy that can hit around 40% when open and really make teams pay.
Trey: Sideways at best this year. I think he will fit better when we can run/push harder next year. But needs to develop on offense to be a least a threat in the half court if he's going to be on the court down the stretch of tight games.
Jalen: Bit of a roller coaster, but improved overall. Like the fact he could hit some key shots down the stretch. Get STRONGER (will help on D and getting to the rim).
Jordan: Have to say dropped off. If he's going to have a role next year, it seems like he's gotta deliver as a major three point threat.
Cohill: Improved greatly on D but no improvement on offense. Needs to develop confidence in his 15 foot jumper. It was there all year but he was paranoid to take it.
Frankie: I can't imagine he will be back as AG basically did not play him this year, even with the short bench.

Looks like there is going to lots of competition for playing time next year, so I would think that would be a great offseason motivator.

We have all talked about the need for a knock down shooter from 3 for next year, and we certainly need that whether it be a recruit/transfer or someone who sat out this year. But more importantly I think we need a guard who can create a shot for themselves. I'm not talking about a guy who is able to get to the rim, because Crutcher, Davis and Cohill (to a certain extent) can do that at times (wish it was more), but someone who can dribble and take a step back shot, up fake go by and hit a mid range jumper or dribble drive and pull up short of the rim and hit a jumper. We are severely missing someone like this. Watch any of the good teams and you will see they all have at least one if not multiple guys that can do this. Hopefully one of the guys on the bench this year fills that role (Ibi or Chatman are probably our best bets).

I think we always assume that the guys showing up next year(either a recruit or a redshirt coming off the bench) will provide the 'what we need to succeed' .

Unfortunately this always sound like 'wait till next year' ala the Browns, the Cubs the Bengals or insert your choice here ______________.

Not sure the teams that succeed year after year have that on their mind at the end of every F'in season ... what do you think?

Without knowing the exact skills of every player who sat out this year, I think one of the basic mantras for Jordan, Dwayne, Ryan, and maybe Trey is, they need to practice at least 50 outside shots a day, from each of 5 different spots on the court (at least 250 shots total), at least 5 days a week, to build the form and muscle memory that will allow them to hit more of those shots in game situations. We need reliable shooters from between 15 and 22 feet, and these guys wonít get there if they donít put in the practice time.

And, Obi? Stay in the weight room, Dude. Youíre built like Kevin Durant was at age 19. Heís now a buff 240. Youíre 220, even after one of your momís empanada feasts. Keep working, Dude.

The main improvement I want to see next year are guards that can pass well. . . .the outside shooting is there if we don't turn over the ball . . . .lazy passes kill us. And the current guards are the major offenders.

Not sure what point youíre trying to make since we have pretty darn good success with transfers coming in and helping the team. Sibert, Sanford and Cunningham come to mind. This next yearís transfer class should be the most talented yet.
