WTF is Richmond doing playing a home game at Noon on a Monday? Are they having a school day like women's teams do?

Khwan Fore is hurt for the Spiders but this is brutal. Delaware was picked 7th in the CAA preseason poll and Jacksonville State was picked second in the OVC

The A10, in general, is not looking good so far against so-so competition. We'll see how the rest of the OOC unfolds.

Can someone refresh my memory and tell me again how UD is better off in the A-10 than we would be in the Big East or the AAC if ever invited.
Not a good start for the league. Doubt we ever see the 4 to 6 bids per year like in the past, and at this rate 3 bids might not even happen this season.

The Fighting Ray Harpers (2-0) next game is Wednesday night at Buffalo. It is on ESPN3.
I predict another display of great coaching acumen by Ray as his team dominates another opponent with ease.
PS: I think we should just use this thread to follow the exploits of JSU throughout the year.

Now that Wichita St. is in the AAC there can no longer be any intellectual comparison. The AAC is closer to the BE than it is to the A10 at this point. We were left behind again, it just didn't get near us much chatter.

I give you THE LAST THREE SEASONS AND NCAA TOURNAMENT BIDS. (I DON'T COUNT THE ELITE EIGHT YEAR, BECAUSE THE A10 SENT SIX TO NCAA'S....JUST ASK COACH K).
Or, in this case, Dayton will never have to worry about being in a conference they don't have an invitation to. Ever, Ever, Ever!
I REST MY CASE, AND SINCE it is 1:17am, I will rest my neck.
Get used to the A10 for the rest of your lifetime.

Ray Harper's wife once said she wanted another child. Ray Harper was too tired for sex. Ray Harper stared deep into his wife eyes.
9 months later Mrs. Harper gave birth to a son, Clayton Rollo Harper.

Cassettes are for progressive forward thinking people, but I'm not into that.
But breaking news from the internet...Holy Big East leaves Dayton out, again (see Conference USA).
Let me get this right; you believe UD will move to a virtual "non-factor" football oriented conference...AAC, and that will improve their global basketball positioning?
Okay, cassettes it is! And, I will have two of what you are enjoying.
You are a great fan Clayton; I hope you get to see your Flyers in the Big East someday.

Well my post did say "if ever invited" The point of my post is the A-10 is not what it used to be and quite frankly I doubt it ever is again. I do not want to rely on the old Butler model of winning the Horizon every year to get in the big dance. Plus if I am a college recruit, I can get much more excited about playing the Uconns, Cincy, Witchita States or the Xavier, Butler, Villanovas of the world compared to our current league schedules. I have to think it would help recruiting and Grant would jump at the chance to move IMO.
Yes, I think the AAC could be a decent fit for us. The AAC is smart enough to know (I hope) that they will never be a football power like the big 5, thus basketball is just as important for them.
Yes, I would still like to see our Flyers in the Big East someday if ever given the opportunity.
RPI numbers the last few seasons do not lie. The Big East is by far a better conference, and with the addition of WSU the AAC will continue to widen the gap between them and the A10
Oh, for the record I am too young to have 8 tracks, but a good friend was giving me crap when I broke out the case of big hair band cassettes and was playing them a few weekends back.

What makes me think that this post will never die, I guess until he does. It will just keep on giving and giving as long as he still coaches.
And by the way, it is Lilburn Ray Harper, Jr., coach of the Jacksonville State Gamecocks.

Probably not a great idea. Ray is 1-0 in UD Arena.

This thread is freaking awesome. So many posters coming together over pure nonsense.
Ray Harper once scored four touchdowns in a game. A baseball game!!

Ray was unhappy with the refs so he looked at one guy and tore his achilles. Down to 2 refs for the last 12 minutes. (This is not a joke! Ref probably tore his achilles!)
Hopefully the Harper's can rally. Down 10. 11 minutes to play.

It is with great sadness that I must report that the Fighting Harpers have scored 5 less points than the stampeding Bulls of Buffalo tonight to lower their record to 2 wins and 1 game that they didn't win.
And please don't tell me that they lost because we all know no team ever loses when Ray Harper is coaching them. They simply ran out of time to win.
Ray is confident that they will be able to vanquish the Tigers of Savannah St next Monday at 4pm to avoid not winning a second game in a row.

Ray had his team lose on purpose, so Savanah would get overconfident. Hard to outthink a great coach.

update on the fighting Ray Harper's... after tough loss to Buffalo, they won their next two, including overtime Tues at Chattanooga... For the year, they are 4-1..their next game is a common opponent with us, actually.. they will be at Miss St Fri 11/26

I was asleep at the wheel and forgot to update the greatest post ever. Ray is pretty angry with me right now. I'm promise to do better the rest of the season and I can hopefully redeem myself.

The fighting Rays have just tipped off at Mississippi St. You can watch the game at the ESPN3 link below. You can scout the Bulldogs to for UD's upcoming trip to Starkville.

Valiant effort by the Fighting Harpers but Miss St hit a 3 at the buzzer to win it 59-56. Ray decided to let the Bulldogs win so their fans wouldn't feel even worse after losing the Egg Bowl Thursday and probably losing their football coach to Florida.

what a great effort by the fighting Harpers against an SEC team... I just checked and re-checked Miss St schedule, to make sure I was seeing it correctly.. Miss St's OOC schedule has 13 games.. of these 13 games, guess how many are away.. one <1>, and that is at Cincinnati.. the 12 remaining out of conference games are ALL AT HOME...Considering they were playing an SEC team, and that team has not had to travel at all this year, I would say the fighting Ray Harpers really did well... How in the world does this prepare Miss State for the SEC, 12 games at home and 1 game away???

Miss St's backcourt will be a test for the Flyers.. They are probably the best back court in the nation that no one is mentioning... 5 star guard Nick Weatherspoon is teamed up with his all SEC brother Quinndary Weatherspoon... they are tough

Ray's boys get a home game tonight against the mighty Hornets of Alabama St. Hopefully this will brighten everyone's day after last nights abysmal performance by the team Ray could have been coaching. The game is being streamed on the OVC digital network which from past experience is 100 times better than any stream UD or the A10 puts out.
Here is the link to watch the game: http://ovcdigitalnetwork.com/watch/?Live=6020&type=Live
Lets go Ray's Cocks!!!!!

And the stream from an OVC school in a million times better just as I suspected even the Harper's aren't off to a good start. Down 13-10 7 minutes in.

Ray Harper doesn't hand out Christmas presents........he has Santa pick them up and deliver them before his regular route.
Ray Harper DOES NOT leave milk and cookies! Santa brings Ray Harper milk and cookies. And he sweeps Ray Harper's chimney on the way out.

If it makes anybody feel better the Fighting Ray Harpers won 76-69 today to move to 11-4 on the year and 2-0 in the OVC!!!!
GO COCKS!!!!!
Also sorry for my lack of updates on the Harpers but the Flyers pitiful play is depressing me.

I have again neglected my duties of updating the community on Ray Harper but you can watch them right now on CBS sports network. They're up on Morehead St 32-25 with 17 minutes to play
BTW Morehead has the largest Eagle logo at center court I've ever seen

Jacksonville St ball and Timeout.
Ray draws up a play and the Gamecocks go to the line for 2 with a chance to go ahead. 3.5 to play.
Tie Game. TO Morehead. JSU with a FT to go ahead.
Gamecocks ahead.
Morehead misses!!!!
Ray Harper wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ray is apparently looking to move on. www.hoopdirt.com has mentioned him twice recently in connection with other jobs.
He was mentioned in connection with the since-filled UTEP job. He is also apparently in the running for the Little Rock job.
Jacksonville State police are currently on riot patrol.
