A Redshirt and then 344 minutes of playing time in 3 scholarship years. This is why we should never see a redshirt again in today's college basketball other than medical or academic. Flyers pay for the training while someone else reaps the benefits.
I do wish him the best. But it stings because I truly believe he's going to be very, very good big man for the lucky team that signs him

Well, that sucks. I really enjoyed watching his development this year. I hoped he would stick with the team thinking he could spell Holmes next two years and then get a solid Sr. Season after Holmes goes to the League. Maybe even just 1 yr with 2 years of more playing time.
Good luck big guy. I hope he continues to improve and I get to see him in the NCAA tournament.

I’m guessing Amaefule is above him in the pecking order, and he didn’t see a pathway to an expanded role.
I wish him well, wherever he goes.

Sad to see him go. Sad that he wasn't used more all season long. I just hope he saw writing on the wall because of Amaefule's progress. (?) I thought he would be a solid contributor next year and possibly a starter the next year. I will follow his progress wherever he winds up and hope he shines and has a lot of success. Thanks, Moulaye.

I will always remember with a smile,
the post game press conference after we beat
Kansas... and Bill Self said, paraphrase but close:
who the heck was that Moses Malone clone
Dayton had off the bench?? When he was in,
he got every offensive and defensive rebound...
that young man was impressive....
good luck, Big Fella!!
whatever team you end up with, will be
getting a good player IMO
I had him in my top 5 just because of
minutes...

Sorry to see, but not overly surprised. With the way he’s developed since he first came here, he could be a starter and a force for the right program. I just hope that program isn’t one we’ll need to face at any time soon. Good luck, Mou!

Best of luck to Mou. Always worked hard. Great rebounder. Obviously loved and respected by his teammates.
Believe he had potential that wasn’t realized here, for whatever reason. Hope he lands at the right program and has great success.

And if Holmes had been injured, he was our starting center, for better or worse.
I get it. He could start at many programs. I think it's a testament to AG that a guy like this can't get off the bench anymore. He would have been the starting center for, what, 65% - 75% of the (edit: UD teams) teams over the last 25 years?

Hate to see him go. He'd become my favorite player and had developed into an excellent inside backup. I'm curious as to how his +/- stats ranked on the team....I'd guess quite high. I hope he doesn't land elsewhere in the A10. With all the difficulty Archie had in attracting decent inside players, I wouldn't be surprised if he takes a serious look at Moulaye.

Happy for Mou, and happy for us. Mou cannot play at a high D1 level, and that is where we are right now. Once again we have people wanting us to be a Top 25 team with players that are not at that level. Mou, in his third year, struggled on a Top 60 team.
There are a couple more at that level. Hopefully, Grant can perform his magic and get us a good center and point guard.

No where did I say he was even thinking of going to Kansas, or that Kansas was interested. Self simply stated, in his own way, that Sissoko played very well against what many would consider upper level Division 1 competition.

Don’t think anyone said he was going to Kansas. They were simply responding to the Bill Self quote after our game where he said Sissoko looked like Moses Malone after he grabbed 4 or 5 rebounds.

I didn't realize Mou's minutes went down this year.
9.6 min in 14 games in 20-21 before his injury.
7.0 min in 30 games in 21-22.
As well as he played, I am not sure if he would see many more minutes next year, especially if Richard is as good as people on here have heard.

oh, it's just fun....
my fault more than anyone's.
I was recalling the press conference
after we beat Kansas, and Bill Self
had that Moses Malone remark
(Who was that Moses Malone clone off
the Dayton bench??!!)
so it's on me as much as anyone,
still fun to recall....
it's all in fun

Thanks, Moulaye, for coming to UD and being an exemplary student athlete.
Best of luck to you wherever you go.

Will miss moulaye. I really do think he should’ve gotten more burn this year. His post game really improved. Sad to see him go. We don’t have anyone on the roster that can replace his strength.

Moulaye Sissoko, exemplary person.
Moulaye is one player that I will be watching to see who offers him and how he will perform.
He should have some choices that will virtually guarantee him minutes. Looking forward with anticipation which team has the right slot for him.

@realColeBair
Have confirmed that Dayton F/C Moulaye Sissoko visited .
@UNImbb
this past weekend.
Sissoko, who came to the US from Mali at 16, averaged 2.4 points and 2 rebounds in 30 games this season (7 minutes per game).
He’s listed at 6’9” 240 and has three years of eligibility remaining.

Big Fella has transferred to North Texas... Good Luck Mou!
They were the Conference USA Regular Season Champs last year and got eliminated by UVA in the 2nd Round of the NIT
Love his message

Who is our back-up point guard next year? How deep are we there? I'm constantly seeing another portal player transfer in the A10 and Dayton just sitting quietly. Mali was injured 2x last year. Expecting him to have an injury free career like Jalen is fools gold. If he plays injury free for the next 3 years, great, but history isn't on his side. And Mongolian Mike is not likely to be leading us into the tournament if Malachi is out.

Dude, can't you just let Mou have his moment for a couple hours on here? Great kid, hard worker, we don't need another thread talking about the need for a PG.

Are you paying attention to who these other A10 schools lost or just who is coming in?
Looking at it from that perspective, UD had a lot of players coming in last year. The other A10 message boards probably felt then, how you feel right now.

I, for one, am going to keep up with Sissoko's progress at North Texas! I was excited to see Mou come into the game to give Holmes a rest at the end of last season because it seemed he improved with each and every game!
I hope North Texas knows what a quality young man they are getting. They were picked to finish 5th in the CUSA last season and finished first in the 14 team conference. The Mean Green only have one man at 6'10" who is taller than Sissoko. Abou Ousmane averaged 10.2ppg last season but can move to his more natural position at PF. I think that Moulaye will start at center for them and I predict he will average 10 and 7!
North Texas is known for their hard-nosed defense and has been top 150 nationally but I am sure they are counting on the big fella to add to their offense.

lmao, first, I thought I was posting in the portal thread. But yes, I’ll let the great Mou have his “moment in the sun” in a thread he very likely isn’t even reading. He’s no longer here after years of coaches developing him, and likely would have helped us this year. But yes, go Mou! 🌞 My bad.

I really liked MS, he was one of those guys you were hoping to stick around all 4 years (5), and provide Senior leadership.

The Athletic

Top 25 Biggest Departures
After identifying the best players who are arriving on campus this summer for every school in our first early top 25, it’s time to highlight the players — and, in a couple of cases, coaches — these programs wish were still around.
DAYTON Moulaye Sissoko
The at-first-glance pick here is Elijah Weaver, the former USC transfer who arrived as something of a would-be star for Dayton two seasons ago, and who was the only meaningful (listed) upperclassman on last year’s team of promising freshmen (plus sophomore Toumani Coumara). Weaver was having a nice fourth year, too, but Dayton’s sudden depth on the wing meant his injury issues in the second half of the season weren’t remotely debilitating for the Flyers. Indeed, Weaver’s decision to transfer suggests that he didn’t see the same potential for minutes among this excellent young Dayton core in 2022-23.
Sissoko, meanwhile, might feel more to Anthony Grant like the one who got away. Sissoko made a huge efficiency leap last season, shooting 67 percent from the field and posting eyebrow-raising rebounding rate numbers (20 percent offensive, 16.3 percent defensive) while playing spot minutes at best. The established frontcourt pairing of Camara and DaRon Holmes was simply too difficult to displace for most of the season, and that would be the case again this season, but you can imagine Sissoko having a breakout impact for Grant McCasland’s savvy North Texas outfit as soon as this fall. — Brennan

We are 40 minutes from the University of North Texas. We plan to catch some of Mo's games if he is collecting decent minutes on the court. UNT is a good fit for him.

MrsFF and I went down for the NIT game vs Memphis. The Super Pit is a nice facility.
