Leave the three-shooter open and you get burned. Darned, our three-ball defense is deplorable.

Is our coaching staff doing anything to fix this three-ball defense? It looks the same every game and the results are the same every game.

They're 3 of 10 not sure whether it's UD's defense or they shoot as bad as UD does

Cut it to 37 - 32, and we have some work to do. Need to control Cline and the adjustment to do so will be interesting.

So you want Steve to guard Cline?
Cline immediately drove past Steve and drew a foul the only chance he had in the first half. Plus Steve can't contest far enough out past the three point line because as soon as he does Cline will go right by him. Steve isn't the solution. If UD fronts they have to have better help side and more ball pressure so the passer can't see to make the pass. If they play behind they simply have to contest better and be more physical.
Add on: Just saw the halftime Cline clip. 4 points driving against Steve. 2 posting up XW. Deep 3 against Kendall. And I remember a easy post up bucket against Wehrli.
So basically Pierre & KP have to guard him. Can be more physical since they aren't in foul trouble

We subbed Crosby and Willims and it started South. Then Bobby and it sped south. Defensive help was good in th first 8 minutes and then non existent.

Hate to say it, but Sam is size-wise the best matchup for Cline. Steve is not mobile enough, X is not hefty enough, and KP, DP, and Bobby aren't "vertical" enough. Hopefully, the dude cools-off at halftime.
Maybe the best strategy is "defense by offense" and make Cline guard somebody who's going to the hoop every other time down the court? Dunno. Good thing I don't get paid to make those decisions!

If the ref blew the whistle it's a foul. Steve never should have been guarding Cline in the first place. That is simply a poor coaching/matchup decision.

Funny halftime stats:
UD is shooting a higher %, out rebounding Richmond, and has the same # of assists and blocks.
Richmond has 3 more steals and 3 less TO's; 6 possessions is the difference

I liked Danny Granger in the halftime show. It seems so many times former players should be very knowledgeable, yet are awful. He seemed like he could be a good commentator/analyst/whatever they're called.

Washburn basically says Archie says he won't change anything and that they just need to do a better job on D.

Does anyone else think that Archie is just as pig headed and stubborn about his defense as BG was about his offense?

Getting out-hustled down the court multiple times. Have to button that up. And, obviously, so painfully obviously, find an answer to Cline.

Scoochie has to shoot that. Even if Sam caught it he can't finish that in traffic.

UD can obviously not guard Richmond in the half court.
Try something different Archie!

In its current iteration, this team defies logic and words. It is simply amazing to see a team fall off a cliff like this.

Archie is perplexed. We can't defend the three-ball and now we are getting beat in transition. I would go small. Put Pierre in the center and just try to go small!!! Time to press, double-team, and trap, Archie. Don't wait until the game is out of hand!

At least try pressing and trapping. What do you have to lose already down 9 and getting torched everywhere.
But Archie won't do it.

10:48 to play. Pollard coming back in. If he can't go, I say screw it! Go small and hope you can outrun them. We can't stop them in the half-court anyway.

Archie isn't going to play him because he doesn't see anybody for him on Richmond's team to guard. Maybe if we had a zone he could play.
