Rhode Island Game Thread

Team is playing really well right now... Let's keep it up as we head back home for our last 2 regular season home games at the Arena. URI has been up and down this year, let's see if we can come close to our effort against them that we had at the Ryan Center not too long ago.

Game is on Friday Night at 7 PM and will be shown on ESPN2.

Starting Lineup:
G 1 Fatts Russell 5’10” 165 SO Philadelphia, PA
G 11 Jeff Dowtin 6’3” 180 JR Upper Marlboro, MD
G 4 Tyrese Martin 6’6” 195 FR Allentown, PA
F 0 Jermaine Harris 6’8” 220 FR Upper Marlboro, MD
F 10 Cyril Langevine 6’8” 225 JR East Orange, NJ

The Rams are led by Dowtin (15.1 PPG 3.6 RPG 3.9 APG) and Langevine (14.1 PPG 10.2 RPG). Also never count out Fatts Russell (12.7 PPG) even though he has been awful shooting the ball this year (31.2 FG 19.1 3PT).

Remember URI can't shoot, especially from deep, so hopefully we can take advantage of that.

Get the job done as we march toward a top 4 seed in the conference tourney... Go UD!

Worse yet, I was in attendance at the UD Arena against Rhode Island on March 3, 2004 when JR. Dustin Hellenga hit a 3 pt. buzzer beater from deep in the corner to defeat our Flyers 65-63! Sean Finn, Keith Waleskowski and Ramod Marshall were all seniors on Brian Gregory's team that went 24-9 that season and lost in 2 OT's to DePaul 76-69 in the first game of the NCAAT.


The place went silent real quickly as many thought the loss might keep us from getting an at large bid that season. I'm sure many of you other old timers remember that particular game from 15 years ago!

not only was he deep in the corner, he was practically falling into his own bench; I still have no clue how he made that shot, maybe had a 1% chance, but he mother frickin' nailed it.

This is an extremely dangerous game if the Flyers come out with anything less than a killer instinct/sense of urgency. URI, regardless of whatever chemistry issues exist with their coach, is still a very talented team.

I don't care what happens this game. AG is a terrible coach and a bad motivator. The team has so much more talent than URI and how you come out lethargic when you need a win to stay in the NCAAs convo is beyond me.

To me that's on the coach. Period. He's a good to great recruiter. Let him do that and hire a good coach.
