Woof. Looks like it was put together based on # of stars or something. Definitely not based on performance.

Hard for me to take seriously if Kurt Huelsman is rated above Big Steve.

In all seriousness, leads to fun barbershop type debates on past flyers.

So Cohill will not be as good as Binnie or Kostas, and Frankie will be a lesser player than Ralph Hill or Steven Thomas. Got it.

This list does prove what most of us have said, that the ratings and stars are based on reputation, who is recruiting you, and where you are going to school.

They got one thing right, Pierce is last.

This list is a perfect synopsis of all these lists. They are a colossal waste of time. Let me see the guys on the court then i'll let you know how many "stars" they get. Gimme OSU Flyer and Ihsgolf, you can have the "lists".

For every LeBum Jones can't miss there is a Sebastian Telfair and Felipe Lopez. Lopez was a SI coverboy as a high-schooler(IIRC) and was the the equivalent of Jesus Christ on a basketball court. He went on to a decent career at St. John's and never made a dent in the NBA if he even made it at all.

He was a walk-on. White guy with a shaved head. I remember him playing a couple meaningful minutes instead of Cripe/Stafford. Don't think he ended up playing all four years.

Big Steve was not in the best physical condition in high school. When he arrived on campus, he lost a lot of weight and improved his conditioning. Kurt was much more conditioned when he arrived on campus.

Rating services look at players at the current moment. They often can’t predict how much a player will develop in college.

Pierre missing tells me all I need to know about the quality of this list.

Also missing Tweedle Dum & all the transfers (although they might not be included because they originally signed elsewhere, but the JUCO guys are on here).

I think when it comes to recruiting here being able to evaluate which 2-3 star guy is going to make it is far more important than being a great salesman with the Top 100 caliber players

I wonder if recruits from outside the US aren’t included? Would be interesting to see if St. Bonaventure’s list includes Nicholson (arguably one of their top 3 players since Lanier).

Unless Pollard was secretly from Wakanda, I think the more likely answer is the editors put about 6.9 minutes of effort into this dreck. KP and his prodigious backside aren’t on the list either.

Jimmie Binnie is #4 on this list, and his classmate Brian Roberts is 20 spots behind him. That solidifies all I need to know about ranking recruits.
