42-13 Butler at the half.
The thugs were at it again today, Xavier smacks UC by 13, as UC coach blasts Mouthy Macura, and X coach blasts back. Well at least no fights.

Rhody up on Providence by 11 at the half. They look pretty good, and in two weeks get Matthews back. Impressed with freshman guard, Russel, who has 14 pts at the half and plays very aggressive D.

Xavier and Uc embarrasses themselves today.
Cronin cannot go after a player, UC should suspend him for multiple games.
J.P. Macura has a history of cheap shots. Got arrested for drunkenness. He tells Cronin to duck my **** and Mack defends him as a he said she said situation. Not the right language with the history of sexual assualts at Xavierand tbe ongoing discussion about sexual assualts. Guaranteed nothing happens to J.P. or Mack.

I believe SLU has 3 players getting the Dyshawn Pierre treatment. Probably has slowed the rebound.

Xavier looked very good, the Bearcats looked pretty bad most of the game IMO.
The Bearcats were not at all ready to play, they did not really seem to even put up a fight until well into the 2nd half.
Poor coaching by Cronin IMO: did not have his team ready to play, waited too long to call a timeout at the beginning of the game when X was running them out of the gym, waited too long to go to the aggressive full-court press, and IMO, he should have left Cumberland in the game when he got his 2nd foul in the first half.
This game was over in the 1st half.
UC got embarrassed in the 1st half.
Everything with UC was too little too late.
Xavier dominated most of this game.

Xavier could have won this game by 30 and scored 100 points, if they had not let up.
And Macura was out of line.
I was ok with Cronin getting p*ssed.
If somebody tells you to f.o. in the post-game handshake line, then you should be able to respond.
But, Lance Stephenson was using the f word on Mack and the X bench in the past during the game, so both sides have done things.

Rhody holds on to beat Providence as Fats Russel scores 20, after his 20 in the Seton Hall win. Fats can ball, and Rhody will be a handful. At times they played four and five guards, and will do it more when Matthews returns.

VCU wins by 7. They host Shaka's Longhorn's this week.
There are only 5 teams with winning records in the A10.

And 49-51 overall. Only way the A-10 gets two bids is if URI plays well and loses the championship game. they could possibily be a second bid. everyone else appears to be chopped liver.

You cannot physically go after a player on another team when you are the head coach. Who cares what he says. You are the head coach and responsible for taking the high road.
At that moment (and because of the silly press conference comments) the game went from "X beating UC" to "another ugly incident between the schools".

I might not have this story right...Cronin was cussing at Macura during the game?...Cronin got a technical foul because of said cussing?...was Macura cussing back at him during the game?...so, at the end of the game, Cronin refuses to shake hands with Macura?...and then Macura cusses him out?...and Cronin responds.

Ball St led most of that game. Had a 9 point lead at one time. ND had what seemed like a lot of trips to the foul line to help them out. Ball St kept their composure, good for them!!

This is exactly why you can't get bent out of shape early in the season. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

Anyone catch ESPN’s recap: “Dayton upsets Tennessee Tech?” Guess the number of upsets tonight confused ESPN.

This year, the Big Ten gets a week off prior to the start of the NCAAT.
Some early losers in the Big Ten tournament will get nearly 2 weeks off prior to the start of the NCAAT.
The 2018 Big Ten tourney is at MSG this year, but the Big East tournament is at MSG the week before the NCAAT starts, hence the week off for the B1G.

Boston College takes no 1 Duke down in a good game where the Eagles shot 50% and 58% for 3s. Best part seeing my least favorite player Grayson Allen lose. BC stormed the court.

Archie’s first two UD teams either could not grasp or buy into his defensive philosophies. Seems like he is having deju va at IU.
Ironically, Anthony is having the exact same issue with regards to defense.

Archie, and the IU program, would get a shot in the arm if 5 star 6'6" 195lb SG Romeo Langford from New Albany, Indiana chose them over Kansas and Vanderbilt as I believe that is his final three schools.
Archie probably hopes that Romeo wasn't in attendance last evening or even tuned in on TV for that matter!

Change is always met with apathy and resistence. If he can get through this season without losing their complete attention, he has help on the way. His top 6 are 2 Seniors, 1 Junior, 2 Sophs, and 1 Freshman. His incoming class is good. But he will take a beating from Alums and fans.

The Refs actually called a charge against Cuse with 11.9 left in OT as they hit the go ahead basket. I'm shocked!
58-57 Bona 11.9 left in OT

I think URI and SBU have good non-conference resumes. As long as they don't screw up in conference play, they are in decent shape.
The rest of the league - not so good.

Some team will finish first in the League. One or two teams will have NCAA bubble records & resume's. Some team will win the A10 Championship auto bid.
Seems like 2 or more could possibly get in.

Before any games today there were four teams that were undefeated. Now there are only three as the New Mexico St. Aggies, in a game which was just completed, took down the 10-0 Miami Hurricanes 63-54! Chris Lykes, a freshman who starts for Miami was once on UD's radar.
The 3 remaining are Villanova, TCU and Arizona State. Two of the three have tough games to start their conference schedules in their next game. TCU hosts Oklahoma and Trae Young while Arizona State opens at Arizona. Villanova is at DePaul so they may remain undefeated the longest!

There are currently no more undefeated teams in Div. 1. The remaining 3 teams all suffered their first loss today. Villanova lost to Butler 101-93. Oklahoma, behind Trae Young's 39 pts, beat TCU 90-89 and in a game just concluded Arizona defeated Arizona St. 84-78.

Actually, they beat us by 13, 73-60. But it was single digits with about 90 ticks left.

Indiana lost to Wisconsin by 10 last night. But actually, my post is about Wisconsin. I remember the years of watching very good Bo Ryan led teams. The team I watched last night is the worst Badger team I can remember. The game proved that even the power conferences have games that are hard to watch.

Bonaventure is down 16 at St Joes in the second half.
It's looking like Juan Bid is working his magic and Rhody is the only team with a chance for an at large bid

Yeah, unfortunately I agree that the Bonnie's are likely not getting an at large bid this year, but they still have time to get things turned around. Also, VCU is not pulling their weight this year like they usually do.
This is going to be VCU's worst year since 2002-2003, they are usually much better than this.

Watching OSU up by 18 early in the second half against #1 Michigan State. It is amazing that with Rat Face no longer coaching in Columbus, the Buckeyes actually run a nice offense, move with and without the ball, score and win!

Looks like ex-Wright State hc, Brad Brownell, Purnell's replacement at Clemson, likely saved his job this year. They are 14-1 and projected as rpi #19.
Maybe they will finally win at NC for the first time ever on January 16.

I attended the Louisiana-Lafeyette game at Clemson a few weeks back. They have a ton of experience and depth. Brownell coaches the heck out of them during the game. I always liked Brownell...first-class guy and a good X/O guy. He finally has the senior experience and talent necessary to compete in the ACC. By the way, watching a game at Clemson is much different than a UD game - they had maybe 5,000 people and most were discussing their upcoming football game.

This is Brownell's 8th season at Clemson. Only ncca tourney appearance was first year
with Purnells players. Obviously basketball not a priority at a football is king school.
Had a similar pattern at wright st (0ne ncaa first year only). Maybe this if his first breakthrough season after all these years.

Clemson is an incredible 0-58 vs. UNC, when the game is played at Chapel Hill, which is the NCAA record for the longest home winning streak against a single opponent.

I never understood why Purnell left Clemson, he had a real good thing going.
Wright State won at Horizon League preseason #1 NKU tonight. They were picked #5. They have now beaten the HL preseason top 4 teams, 3 of the 4 on the road. This might be their year.

Scott Nagy @ Wright State is an excellant coach, I was kind of suprirsed when WSU hired him away from South Dakota State. They were a really good D2 team under his helm, then he built them up thru some lean years as they transitioned to D1, once they settled in, they were regularly in postseason play. He's the kind of coach P5 schools should have been looking at to build up their program.

Yeah, google says that DePaul gave him a raise to $2.2 million a year. He was making $1.6 million per year at Clemson.
But, he only lasted 5 years at DePaul. He might still be at Clemson today.

But if he's happy in retirement he's $3M richer.

Clemson +7.5 tonight at NC. Clemson will probably be 0-59 in Chapel Hill. The game will be on ESPN Extra at 7pm.
I do not know what ESPN Extra is.

The ESPNE's are ones you have to pay extra for in addition to the fee you pay for ESPN and for the fee you pay for the ESPNU.
If there was a year for Clemson to do it, this is it. NC is very inconsistent.

Maybe felt his seating getting hot after three straight first round NCAA losses (all as the better seeded team)

Clemson down 76-68 with 3:22 left.
I added ESPN Extra to my Spectrum cable account, but a stupid "this game is blacked out in your area" message comes up. The Spectrum CSR said that there is likely a problem on ESPN's end.

Clemson falls 87-79, 0-59 in Chapel Hill now.
I was able to watch the game on the Watch ESPN app.
Spectrum cable offers 8 ESPN Extra TV channels, and apparently there is 1 ESPN Extra internet channel.
About half of the ESPN Extra TV channels were blacked out for some reason.

I watched the whole game on FXCarolinas. NC came to play. Clemson was no match for their talent. Loved when the UNC students went nuts for school being cancelled because snow was predicted for today.
The South, where it is a weather emergency when snow is predicted. The North, where it is a heat emergency when 90 degrees is predicted.

Meanwhile, down in the land of Mickey, UC struggled to score 15 1st half points, less than 50 for the game, yet still won by double digits over UCF. I didn't see any of the game, but I can only imagine it set back basketball as much as UD vs DePaul did in the NCAA tournament a decade+ ago.

I listened to a lot of the game...UCFs strategy in every game is to run the 30-sec clock down to 1 before shooting...limiting opposition possessions is their idea of 'defense' and it worked in the first half...in fact, it works well for them...just check their record and box scores. UCs radio team was humored by it and in all honesty, it was fun to listen to despite the lack of scoring.
FWIW, UCF has a 7'6" center.

I live outside Chicago and have never seen a heat emergency because of 90 degree temps. It is 90 pretty much every day in July and August, (but cooler by the lake). There has certainly never been anything cancelled because it was going to be 90. We truly get the worst of both worlds temperature wise, but it is a small price to pay for no wild fires, mudslides, hurricanes, and the abundance of fresh water.

Incorrect. Clemson's uncharacteristically poor defense and terrible 1st half sunk them.
Clemson was down 16 at half, but scored 56 points in the second half and still couldn't narrow the gap enough, even hitting 13 shots in a row as they did at one point. It was a good second half for both teams.
I wouldn't say they were no match... They play at Clemson in 2 weeks and fully expect a Clemson win in that one.
