The radio commentary is simply superior in its content, but not in sync with the video feed.
And gametracker is just so far behind on the real UD blocking stats.

Flyers up 2-0. 25-15, 25-15
Pretty routine so far. A-10 just not much competition overall.
"X" over Rhody today in 4. Every team in the conference has at least one loss - except the Flyers.

Great performance so far with only 6 errors in 2 sets - 3.0 average is outstanding.
And scored 36 of the 50 points. That's pretty good too. 18.0 average.
Close it out in 3 ladies!

25-17 to sweep - after being tied at 15 apiece.
Gosh it is tough to maintain intensity. Thought we came out a bit flat both at the start of set 1 and also set 3. Yet- one should not dismiss the Rams so quickly - as they do have a winning record. It will be really tough to keep up the intensity through the A-10 schedule.
Next weekend at Temple and La Salle - currently they are a combined 7-28.

A couple big steps forward in this match. The Hitting % was starting to worry me a little considering the last couple years, Final Four teams hit .290+ for the season and National Champs PSU hit .350+ the last 2 years. That's as a TEAM. Off the charts.
Very good to see UD put up a team .425 - highest this year. And a lot more out-of-system kills tonight. Jess had 36 assists - which some of those would have been out of system, we just don't know how many from the stats. But as a team we had 43 assists - which means 7 kills came out of system and that's more than we've been getting - and it helps the team hitting %.
Also - finished with 14 errors in 3 sets - less than 5 per set and that's excellent. We had some service errors late that I know the girls would like back, but when it's the lowest errors/set all year you have to like the improvement.
Heard the crowd was huge again. (Edit: 1802 was official attendance.) For a Saturday night, it might have been a record...and for Fordham!!! The X and SLU matches will be packed. I'd expect new records for those two later in the season. Sheff said there were like 300 people in line for autographs. That's got to be a record too. lol
Thanks to all the Alums who came back. They interviewed Kortney Norris at intermission. She was impressed with our block.
And now the girls truely get a day off - no travel, no game, no classes. Of course there is always laundry. lol. enjoy and relax.

Does anyone have a list of the alumni players recognized last night? There was an alum who brought her high school team from cincinnati with her to the chalk talk. Those girls had a great time at chalk talk and were very very impressed with Becky and Lindsay in particular. They won a pizza and I saw them getting lots of pictures taken. It took a long time for everyone to make it through the autograph and picture line.

Brian - Mike and Mandy went down the list on the radio. I don't know if it was complete, but Mike via Mandy could probably get you the list? Also I think you could email Adrienne Green or Megan Peace-Winner. Megan was probably responsible for coordinating the introductions.
I think it's outstanding that there was such a big crowd (for Fordham of all teams, lol) and the alums were part of it. It had to be a great welcome back to Frericks for them. And it was perfect that Kortney Norris was there. Maryland played on Thursday and Friday this week, so her schedule allowed it.

The .425 team hitting % is the highest this year for a match. I talked about the out-of-system kills above, but also we kept our hitting errors low. The following are general parameters. A person would have to breakdown film to form concrete conclusions as to how a hitter did in any particular match. Hitting % is attached to a hitter's name, but it's impacted greatly by the passing and setting of other players. Both the good and the bad. The more you get into volleyball the more you realize how much of a TEAM sport it is. Other than an Ace or a kill off an overpass, there aren't too many "individual" stats.
So generally, an ELITE hitter playing MB will have less than 10% hitting errors. An EXCELLENT MB will have 12%.
An ELITE Leftside OH will have in the neighborhood of 14% errors and an EXCELLENT LOH will be under 16%. The reason LOHs are higher is they get so many "junk" sets that come out-of-system off of bad passes. When the defense knows you're setting the ball high to the left OH because your setter is behind the 10' line, the hitter gets a double block waiting for them at the net. They are more likely going to get blocked or have to hit so far around or over the block the ball goes out. And thus they "collect" more errors.
An ELITE Rightside OH will have around a 12% error rate and an EXCELLENT RSOH around 14%.
So when a TEAM's hitting errors are 10% or LESS -- they've had an outstanding night. Dayton had 7 hitting errors in 87 swings against Fordham. (8.05%) And thus the TEAM .425 hitting percent.
ELITE job by EVERYONE - passers, serve receive, digs, setting, hitting. Great TEAM job! Well Done!
