They need to run the pick for Dillard where he gets it for a 3 at the top of the key

Thanks Benson. Pray for the freshmen. Now that I think about it, might as well pray for the entire team.

0-6 so what. Another loss to a team we were favored to and should have beaten. The Weber State loss was not a mistake. Again we are favored by 3 to 4 points. Guys that means you WIN by 3 points. I no longer feel that this is a good team getting bad breaks and snakebitten. This is not a good team period. The rest of our games are all against teams ahead of us, of course, 12 teams are ahead of us. The ultimate embarrassment is ahead of us when Fordham wins a game and pulls even. With the schedule ahead of us, this team could end up LAST in the A10!!!! Don't laugh and scoff it off. Why would the C7 want a team 13th out of 16th. I wish there was a Target near me tonight.

Why is it, that no matter what happens in the off-season to X, no matter what....they always seem to regroup and make the NCAA.....while Dayton always seems to find a way to self destruct....every year, like clockwork.

The mighty Rhode Island Rams put up 75 pts on us. All this talk about the frosh and incoming recruits yada...yada...yada. Until this coaching staff demands defense out of the players, these seasons will be more common. Last year's debacle at Iowa raised a red flag with me. The team got beat repeatedly down court, refusing to get back and giving up layup after layup as if they didn't give a crap. All for a national audience to see and Dan Dakich of ESPN stating his disbelief. That was embarrassing. However, the embarrassmant that will come with not even qualifying for the conference tournament will be hard to top. Dyshawn can play, but can he guard? I haven't seen it yet. I definitely have not seen Jalen guard anyone nor have I seen much defense out of Devon. I know Khari cares about the defensive side of the floor, but I'm starting to think he and Oliver are the only guys on the team who care about that side of the court and that includes the coaching staff. That is very troublesome. I can't stomach any more of this.

To destruct you have to struct first. I don't think we have structed at all this year.

Generally win some and lose some unless you are doing something wrong. In the case of the Flyers they cannot get stops.

Well, i was talking more in generalities -like the last 30 years. But you are right, UD hasn't "structed" yet. It's funny to listen to the post game interview of Archie as well as the post game show playing right now on 1290.... and it's like as George Carlin would say; "Vusa De" where somehow all of this seems so familiar, like it's all happened before....

Arch says that we had some guys pacing themselves on defense because we are a bit thin on the bench. C'mon, is he tolerating this?
It's not like we played D in the first half and got tired. We let a weak team score and score and our coaches let this go on and on and on for 23 games into the season.

Losing this games means nothing. This team has a pair of seniors that are the worst defenders on the team. They haven't gotten stops late all year. Every close loss has been attributed to a lack of defense. Their opponents get stops the flyers don't

Arch has some poor defenders and not any options in the backcourt. The defense has really tanked since Price was injured.

The buck stops with the head coach. And honestly, I wasn't real impressed with last year's defense either.

We need BG's defense with AM's offense. Then we'd be in pretty good shape.

Thats the crutch in every one of these close losses. It was the first 38 minutes that hurt us, not the last 2. The last 2 were just academic outcomes based on the first 38.
We had 11 FGs and 10 TOs in the first 20 minutes. You cannot do that against a team with one league win and six straight losses.
We let URI shoot over 60% in the second half -- not including the EFG% which is much higher given their treys. You cannot do that and expect to win.
Both halfs of basketball were immensely flawed products. Put the two together and you'll put yourself in a position to lose most nights. What should have been a 10-14pts lead with 2 minutes to go was a tight game.
UD is not jinxed, hexed, or succumbing to the Greg Brady Waikiki tiki doll. UD is losing games it doesnt deserve to win. Even had UD pulled half of these close games out, you could argue they didn't play well enough to. Thats the problem. So its problematic either way. You either lose a game you didnt play well enough to win, or you win a game you played lousy enough to nearly lose.
UD will win games by clearly being the best team on the floor. Leaving it up to chance and friendly bounces is no way to make your fortune.
I realize we've got 8 players. We are down on numbers. We have one PG. But you gotta suck it up and not feel sorry for yourself and just find a way.

Not a crutch...just a fact. Yes the first 38 did us in. The last four mins of the first half was a back breaker. If they don't learn to take care of the basketball all else will not matter.

I agree. _avier has had seven real players (eight total scholarship players on their roster) all year.

Don't coach/learn/want to play Defense. Don't expect to win.

I'm just laughing at the postgame notion of "we're only playing with 8 guys and they're somewhat pacing themselves". I can clearly remember some of Donohers teams where only 7-8 guys EVER got meaningful playing time -and i mean the entire year...and those teams played solid defense for the most part sans a few of the last teams he coached. This team is getting exactly the payback that they deserve; poor defensive effort usually allows poor shooting teams to shoot 61% in the second half and look like world beaters....
I sure hope the laziness of this squad doesn't spill over into next year....

Our final 8 team of 1984 only played seven. Dan Christie as a freshman and Jeff Zern off the bench. Ted Harris was #8 and he played less than 150 minutes all year.

Just noticed something in my recent posts. For past UD teams I'm saying we and this year I'm catching myself saying they.

Just checked th box score. They played 9 and we played 9. Vondehaar only had 3 minutes but they had 2 guys with 6/7 minutes. Throw out those 3 and they had the higher average minutes per player. They wouldn't let us shoot a 3. They worked harder on D.

Our defense is better now than it was at the beginning of the season. I realize that's not saying a whole lot. But what consistently has killed us is that Khari is the only one that can pressure the guards. Too much freedom in the opposition's backcourt. Defense goes downhill from that point on.

It is very hard to play defense if you don't defend at the point. Dillard hasn't defended for his five years of college.
