Providence Athletic Director
Providence AD tweeted this last night after the game.
"I love and appreciate our Big East Officials. #gofriars"
There are so many things wrong with this:
(1) AD not so subtly criticizing officials, he should be fined.
(2) Sore loser from leadership position. Stop the whining.
(3) Providence and Dayton 13 fouls each with 3:42 to go in game and then Providence starts fouling intentionally and outfouls UD 8-1 down the stretch.
(4) There is no such thing as Big East Officials. Refs work different games and usually with a couple different conferences based upon geographic location, but are not affiliated with a conference.
(5) The 3 officials from last night worked Big East games this year.
(6) Dayton is #2 in the nation according to kenpom getting to the foul line. Providence gave up a ton of foul shots this year being #226 in the nation in defensive foul shots (giving up foul shots). So 18-7 foul shot disparity before last 3:42 not surprising.
I cannot imagine Wabler crying like this, particularly when no facts exist to support him.
BTW, feel free to let him know what you think by replying to his tweet @PCBobDriscoll

That's pretty bad for an AD to be whining about the officials. Agree he should be fined. Ridiculous.

Saw that. Also tweeted this during/after the game:
Thank u Friar fans for your tremendous support this year. We are all struggling right now but we will get back up and get after it.#gofriars
Very very painful loss. Love and appreciate LaDante, Carson, Ted and Tyler. Thank u for leadership. We will be back. #gofriars
Can u feel it Friar Fans? The inevitability of victory. #gofriars
Spelled his senior's name wrong, and constantly using "u" instead of just typing out "you". I would be incredibly embarrassed if that was UD's athletic director

Not complaining with the end result...but the grey haired official seemed to have a quick whistle on UD a few times as well....
Maybe the NCAA can learn a lesson about seeding after this year.

Did he see the foul total for providence was something like 3 fouls with under 4 to play? They need to stop making excuses its rediculous we won by 13 points not 2 or 3...

It was 7 fouls to 2 fouls with 4 minutes to play. Pierre got fouled in the corner which led to the media timeout the caused the T.
So biased!

It's all about the leadership. Dayton has embraced a no excuses mentality while Providence is all about the excuses. Results speak for themselves. If Providence wasn't happy with the draw or where they were playing, then perhaps the NIT would have been a better choice.

Players and coaches are much more constrained than I would be. Amazing how officials in minutes can take over a game that these kids prepared months to play. Would be interesting to see how officials are graded, see their report cards. "Old refs never die, they just______."? (fill in the blank).
Surprised that an AD would be so public, never really saw that before.
Oh well, we see bad calls every game, normally "against" our team, and so maybe he just felt the frustration of losing. Move on...it's just a game.

The Grey haired official was in Puerto Rico. And I know he didn't favour us there.

Maybe they need a support group for AD's and Big Least fans suffering the emotional trauma of a loss to the lowly Dayton Flyers. We own that league.

I don't remember the last time we lost to a Big East team But my memory is quite selective now that we're winning games in the Tourney. Again.

Big East officials
Maybe the PC AD loves Big East officials because they are the main reason Providence finished as well as they did in that league this season. A10 officials would have him committed by now. Did anyone else enjoy the bench shot of Providence w. about 10 sec left? Henton was in the middle with a very disappointed look on his face. Couldn't help wondering if he was thinking about what might have been had he not reneged on the Flyers.

Buckets probably didn't even know who Archie Miller even was, I'm sure he was just happy to get away from the Cluster Truck that was UD basketball at the time with the Staten situation and BG leaving. Doesn't matter, we have an Elite 8 under our belts and are on to bigger and better things. Amazing how far we have come in such a short period of time.

And the look on Dunn's face during that shot was priceless. The word "dumbfounded" comes to mind.
Actually, I'm sorry to hear about all the pi$$ing and moaning coming out of the Providence camp. The fans I saw at the game last night seemed halfway decent, and I'd never heard of Providence being a school full of whiners. Oh, well, given their peer group, I shouldn't be surprised. I guess some other fan base can now become known as "The Cryers".

Noticed that myself, but with the JumboTron staring me straight in the face, it was hard to ignore the statistic showing that PC only had been called for 2 fouls in the first 15 minutes of the 2nd Half. I even made a comment to the stripes (granted, I was 7 rows from the top of the arena) about how the lighting at that end of the court must have gotten better. PC should have no complaint about the impartiality of the officiating.
