Prize was $2 million until it was cut in half in 2020. TV viewership hasn't been as strong in recent years, so it will be interesting to see how this year stacks up.

Interesting as I did not know this. Thank You.
According to Wiki- The championship prize money was originally $500,000 in 2014, was increased to $1 million in 2015, and was $2 million from 2016 through 2019. Since 2020, the top prize has been $1 million.
I guess this shows how little I cared about this event, until this year at least.
Betting I am not the only one on this site who did not know it used to be $2,000,000

This is the second straight game where a group of players that played for University of Buffalo have beaten a team of players that played for the University of Dayton. At least this time it wasn't a 29 point shellacking.

Vee probably remembers. He was sitting out his transfer year so I'm guessing he was on the Flyers bench during that game. They got whipped by 17 the next game at Murray St. Finally stopped the bleeding in Archie's first season by beating up on 16th ranked, Anthony Grant coached Alabama the next game.

I would like to thank all the former and current UD players who made this TBT a memorable experience. It was a microcosm of many key minutes that had our hero's on display.
Hopefully we can have more of the same each year.

All the Blue collar U guys had the names of Buffalo mass shooting victims on their backs. After the win they arranged all the jerseys on the floor for pictures. I thought that was classy.

TBT first started 2014, the award was 500,000 million. They raised it in 2015 to 1 million, 2016 to 2 million, and decreased in 2020 to 1 million (probably because of no ticket sales).
I wouldn't expect them to raise it unless attendance increases.

I would think it's more dependent on broadcast ratings rather than attendance. You're just never going to get people to travel much for their favorite TBT team like they do for CBB tournaments.

On ball defense against Wes Clark killed RS. Darrell Davis did an OK job until he got screened. Everyone else was terrible.
Clark was going right. He may take a couple dribbles left, be he was going to attack and finish going right. Every screen came from his right. Once around the screen, the switch defender repeatedly got beat by Clark blowing past going right. When CJ Walker came into the game the 3rd quarter, he shaded to Clark's left. Clark immediately blew past him for a layup. It was as if Walker hadn't been watching the same game.
In the post, Nick Perkins was going left. He backed down with his right several times, but he spun back left to shoot. Trey did manage to get a steal coming from behind on one possession in the 1st half.
I really hate watching players got beat time after time in the same way and making no adjustments.

So RS has now lost to the eventual champ 3 of the last 4 years.
I personally thought Josh did an admirable job against Perkins for the 1st 3+ quarters given Perkin’s size and strength advantage. I watched Perkins the night before and was concerned about facing him as he was super solid down low which helped open up the floor for his shooters against the Shockers.

Scoochie surely deserved it. He was flat out awesome.
I said for a couple years, and got 'corrected' by people looking at stat sheet instead of watching live, that we needed a PG to have any chance. This year confirms that 100%. We weren't gonna win with Dillard, Kyle Davis, Vee or Baby D.
What would round this group out is if Josh was our second best big man, and the other one has to be more like Perkins than Trevor (who I like). I also don't think Dyshawn is the answer. We need the physical beef who can also create and score.
Not sure who that would be from a former player standpoint.
This was truly fun to be in attendance for. I've loved it for years. Hopefully Jalen and/or Scooch will both be there next year (of course I'd prefer Jalen be on an NBA roster).
