An open letter to Archie Miller
Everything needs to be simplified. Take this back to a High School level. I have several suggestions.
-Practice
-Run,Run,Run,Run Run. Until everyone pukes. When everyone pukes, run more.
-Free throws
- no one leaves until you make 70 out of 100 AND 8 in a row.
-Practice against the press with 7 defenders and no dribbling allowed.
-Defenses
- shake it up, install a zone to run against poor shooting teams
- install a diamond press with trapping to run randomly
-Playing time
- tighten the rotation up
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. If Vee wont play defense, sit him, if Scott continues his **** poor overall play sit him. Pollard and Davis are playing with effort, play those guys. Why are we not running Sibert off triple screens? Why aren't we running more set plays for Pierre? Im sick of seeing the same crap losing games over and over and over and over again. If im Archie i play the guys who can do two things: Shoot free throws and play with effort. I also tell the team to check the egos at the door and say "If Jordan Sibert and Dyshawn Pierre dont touch the ball every single possession we practice at 6 am tomorrow" Desperate times call for desperate measures, if im Archie i pull Sanford and Scott from the rotation. Period. We'll play small if Kav and Gavs arent ready.
Someone may need to check on me if we lose today. This conference schedule groundhog day is driving me to the looney bin.

I have the Duke game on but not really watching it closely. But, they were talking about how many wins coach K has. He credits the athletic director for having the patience to stick with him when things were rough in his early years at Duke.

Heard that, as well.
Just switched over to LaSalle/VCU game and LaSalle is handling VCU so far at the Philly high school gym, leading by 7 with 4 to go. Huh??

I don't think there are many here saying that Archie shouldn't get a fourth season, just as coach K did.

Right, AM is going nowhere until he puts in a few more years at UD and then parlays that to another job, just as his predecessor did with his first head coaching job. It's the current nature of the Dayton job!

And Coach K made it to the NCAA second round in his fourth year. He'll get his 30th NCAA appearance in a row this year (30 out of 31 if you want to count the year he had back surgery/exhaustion).

When Archie takes us to the promise land and starts getting calls from big time schools, I don't want to hear any complaing about loyalty on this board from all the "experts" who want to fire a coach for losing to the two best teams in the A10.
1. SLU & VCu are really good
2. Its hard to win on the road in conference play

Who is saying anything about firing anyone??
Plus, as it has been discussed here in depth, it's not that they are losing or who they are losing to, but rather HOW they are losing.

Coach K first 3 years: 17-13, 10-17, 11-17. Archie will never be Coach K but who will, be he is a legend. Archie deserves his 5 year contract and his four years of recruits before we go Cleveland Browns on him
VCU wins by 8 in double overtime.

Sports Narratives are great. UD loses a couple of games to better teams and all of a sudden they are not play "hard". Its a shame DMO didn't "will the team to victory "on Wednesday. Maybe if Vee had a "killer instinct" they may have beat SLU.
I refuse to believe the players and Archie don't want to win. The effort is there, they just are not good enough.

Gonzaga and Baylor had poor effort in those games. Execution was suspect too.
UD had the killer instinct that week, no doubt.
I sure hope they decide to try hard against Rhode Island today.

Now that's funny. AM's not on the hot seat, but if this were 2015 I believe he would be and deservedly so. Honestly, I'm not very hopeful he will drastically improve in a year.

AM will play out his contract. That means he's here the remainder this year and the two following years. UD isn't going to fire him. Absolutely won't happen, unless he violates the conduct clause in his contract.
Let's just pray he gets this team back. He had them early on, then he lost them. Hope he can get them back again.....and soon.

I guess Bucky isn't a credible voice...because he was clear that the effort wasn't there.

Watching this game at URI and I see a team (UD)that has no motivation. They don't have a drive to compete. If UD doesn't get a toughness needed to generate that motivation they will lose many more games. I don't see a team that will win 20 games this season.
One example was when Kava got an offensive rebound and he didn't even jump when he shot it at point blank range. Is he afraid of contact? it sure looked like it on that play

One of the broadcast team (our old friend, Mr. Wolf I believe) put it on the line when Archie made a 5 for 5 substitution. "Lack of effort," he said.
It is so obvious. To everyone.

I say bench everybody that's not a freshman or walk on. For the next whole game. Make them sit and watch a loss. Don't reward this effort with floor time.

Also, what kind of half assed press is that at 4 minutes? They take the ball as far in corner as possible and we back peddle. No trap at all. Why bother to be down there at all. That's on coach but I'd bench them anyhow.
If they don't care why should I?

I thought the symbolic gesture of calling time outs in the last minute of the game even though we were down big was pretty powerful, though. Archie's way of saying we haven't given up (it just looks like it) I guess.
Weird!!!!!!!!

I can't recall the Flyers ever presenting any kind of trapping press, other than maybe in times of desperation.

this game reminded of senior night against SLU in BGs last season. that night everyone was going through the motions. I thought a few guys played with some effort ... but not many.

My original post was about home games against St. Louis and VCU, simply better teams. We are not very good, certainly not as good as them. Today we got humiliated by a team not as talented as us because we are not mentally tough, we are poorly prepared, and we quit. A sad day for this program.
