I hear talk all the time about Dayon's resources. Could our abundance of resources actually be a problem? Charter flights (while I think we should have them) plus everything else under the sun is being taken too lightly by the players. After all this is the age of entitlement.
Couldn't help but think of the ladies having to travel by commercial plane spend hours in terminals missing valuable sleep for one of their biggest A-10 games of the year on the road. These ladies have gone to 4 straight NCAA tournaments and most likely in position for a 5th yet they travel by commercial jet. They gave a valiant effort against a very heady St. Joes team without their starting backcourt and sleepless night traveling to get to Philly. I thought title IX was about equality yet the ladies who have proven themselves travel the old fashioned way while the men travel in luxury.
Could we be our own worst enemy with too many resources!
One thought about not being able to hire or even attract a successful head coach. There is this coaching fraternity and one of the big cheese so to speak is Rick Pitino who abhors anything Dayton and even said so during a first four game he co hosted stating as much that he'd tell fellow coaches to stay away from Dayton. (This was shortly after the firing of JOB, who was his assistant with the Celtics I believe or some pro team).
I also know Bob Knight had similar feelings after the firing of
Donoher. Could this still be the feeling of coaches in the fraternity.
