Excited and blessed to have just received an official offer from Dayton University!!
Big Fella got his offer... Could be interesting soon

Anybody able to find any video on Tshimanga? He appears to be a project, as only offers are UD, Grambling and Cal Northridge.

Nebraska transfer Jordy Tshimanga & his younger brother Emmanuel Tshimanga (Bella Vista Prep '19) are both scheduled to start their official visits to Dayton today.

Oh no. The dreaded "Dayton University". Half of this board just started questioning his on court skills.

Xenia's Samari Curtis has pledged to UC today. X got a pledge from top 40 combo guard Dwon Odom Sunday which made SC's decision seemingly easier.

Plus the fact...Recruits that decommit often say they are keeping that school under consideration. Very rarely do they recommit to the original school

Does anyone else find it odd that they take pictures in UD uniforms even though they are only on a visit? Seems a bit presumptuous to me, plus it can raise false hopes of signing the kid. Also, VERY interesting that they were wearing Kostas and Pierce's numbers - 13 and 14.

It is not unusual for schools to do photo shoots on visits anymore, that way they have a photo for an announcement if/when a player commits/signs.
Probably wearing those uniforms because of they are a good size match.

This is SOP these days. These photos get posted on the kids twitter after almost every kid visits a school. They roll out the red carpet whenever a football or basketball recruit is on a visit at all DI schools.

Raise false hopes for who? For you? These kids have offers. And UD coaches are hoping they take these offers. So what the coaches are trying to do is help these kids envision what the college experience at the University of Dayton will be like for them. So they have the kids put on the uniforms (if they want to), and sure it's a photo opp that kids are gonna share on social media if they're feeling it, cause that's what kids do these days. And then in addition to putting on the uniforms, the coaches probably turn on a recording of the crowd noise in the arena. They sit with the kids in the locker rooms. They get them a campus tour so these kids can see where they will study, where they will eat on campus, etc. This all seems extremely normal. Not sure how or why it would strike anyone as remotely strange.

Watched his video and was very impressed! Nate Jack can really "jack" em up from threeland. He shoots 40% from the three point stripe and has excellent form. The only thing I could see that he needs improvement on is that he only shoots 62.5% from the free throw line (30 for 48).

This is one of those weird dreams. Anthony Grant stumbles across some previously undiscovered land of giants with surnames like Tshimanga and Issanza. Only logical explanation I’m afraid.

The coaching staff must be moving on from Kai Jones. Hate to see that but understand since he blew up earlier this summer.

Probably still recruiting him... but IMO the loss of Kane, who I believe was his main recruiter, hurt a little bit... Would have still been hard to land him regardless

Look at our big man recruiting
Rick Issanza
Jordy Tshimanga
Emmanuel Tshimanga
Olanrewaju Olamuyiwa
Prince Gillam
Moulaye Sissoko
All originally from Africa, several by way of Canada. Maybe an untapped resource of raw talent the bigger schools avoid due to having to invest time to develop.

Saw video of Issanza. Good defensive instincts, and a good touch close to the hoop. Not sure about his ability to hit a shot from outside 5 feet, as the videos of him on offense showed mostly dunks. Also, is a prime candidate for the weight room at 7’1” (a foot taller than me) and 215 pounds (45 pounds lighter).

Two scholarships left for 2019. I'd like to see another big and a sharp shooting guard. A guy like Tyler Bertram who will shoot 40+% from 3 point range. The Big could be Tshimanga's brother, Kai Jones (my personal favorite but I think the chances are low), or one of the other bigs as long as he is not a project.
I like the fact that there are only two slots available. It allows the staff to really focus on who they want and it also creates the scarcity factor. Recruits couldn't string AG along waiting for a better offer knowing UD has multiple slots available.

Per Adam Zagoria of VerbalCommits.com Kira Lewis announced on Friday, 8/10/18 that he will be attending Alabama next season and playing for the Crimson Tide.
Since AG used to coach at Alabama and Kira Lewis attended Hazel Green High School there I thought maybe we might have had the inside track on him, but we only have one scholarship open for 2019 and Tyler Bertrum is who AG and the assistant coaches seem to have a priority on.

I pray AG can get Tyler Bertrum. Watching his highlight video, his shot looks so effortlessly and seems to have a great court sense looking at his passing.

It sounds like you are saying we have 2 for 2019 and one additional carryover which would make three for 2019. Actually we have one open now and Josh leaving will give us one more for 2019, for a total of 2 for 2019.

With the new reality of Flyers leaving early for the draft (sorry, couldn't resist), I mean transfers becoming more prevalent, we will more likely have more than 2.
I would think AG is recruiting with that in mind.

While it is true that transfers have become more prevalent in recent years, I just don't see any candidates on our current roster. I would think all nine of our eligible players will see plenty of playing time. Unless someone gets homesick or has other family/personal problems, I think we will be free of transfers after this season.

I agree completely that the limited roster will lead to playing time for everyone. And to be clear to anyone who might get offended, I'm not advocating anyone leaving. But not everyone will get the same playing time. And some of those players may see an inbound transfer already here or an incoming freshman in their way to getting increased or the same playing time.
The kid getting 5-10 minutes a game this year facing decreased time next year is at risk just like the other reasons you mentioned. Again, not advocating or hoping for it... just trying to be realistic that in the current environment of CBB the staff should be recruiting with the expectation a transfer could (likely) occur.

Congratulations to Coach Grant and staff on the signing of Jordy Tshimanga. Welcome Jordy! Looking forward to watching you develop and play for the Flyers.
UD'S on court prospects just shot-upward...literally and figuratively. Some much needed size, height, length, and bulk. That was the most glaring weakness. Great sign Anthony!

I think we will be much improved this season, but '19-'20 is looking VERY good with Chatman, Watson, and Jordy added to the talent we already have (and one or two more). We will certainly miss Josh, but we will have a LOT of talent in '19-'20 (and we have quite a bit this season).

2019 6’9 wing Collegiate #TRGR Robbie Beran unofficial visits this week are Dayton today, Xavier tomorrow and GW Friday per source Pic by @jwherron10 #ASSISTWATCH
Also, in somewhat of a surprise... we didn't make Tyler Bertram's final 7 (which means to me, we stopped recruiting him)

Wow, that is a surprise. I thought we were very high on him. Well, I guess time will tell what the staff has in mind.

Not to look too far ahead, but if everyone stays, 2020-21 could be a heckuva season. Crutcher, Davis, Watson, Chatman, and Tshimanga as Seniors, and Toppin, Cohill, and Policelli as Juniors. A pretty nice nucleus, there.

Any I hope that as we go along, we may have been able to even over-recruit them and have better sophs too. But even if we don't, that's a heck of a team right there.

Good thoughts for sure. But having seen what we have encountered with super teams on the horizon, only to see the train derailed, I'm afraid to even think that far ahead. The injuries to Wright and Roberts, numbing stupid actions by a gaggle of centers we have had, and punctuated by the devastating death of Big Steve, we have been snake-bit. We have had so many things go wrong with the vision of good players playing 4 years in a row without misfortune, it's nauseating.
We are due for a break in that regard.

I'd throw in there Sam's antics, Pierre and Kav's accusations, Khari Price transferring, hmm I'm sure there are more.

three-star 2019 point guard Joe Toussaint.
Toussaint is one of three 2019 point guards taking official visits to Iowa City this September.
Iowa is his first official visit. He doesn't have any others on the schedule at the moment, but he has "stuff in the works."
"Dayton is coming up soon after Iowa," he told me Tuesday night, "and then probably it’ll be Wichita State, and then UNLV will be last."
Iowa, Dayton, Wichita State and UNLV are Toussaint's final four schools, which he released Tuesday on Instagram.
"UNLV is in a different environment — it’s all the way on the west side (of the country). I don’t mind going to the west side to play basketball, so it’s something new," Toussaint said. "Wichita State kind of reminds me of Iowa with the coaching. I’ve been watching the coaching. Two very good coaches, one at Iowa in Mr. (Fran) McCaffery and coach (Gregg) Marshall at Wichita State. Two good coaches. And Dayton has been recruiting me hard ever since Day 1."

Also, in somewhat of a surprise... we didn't make Tyler Bertram's final 7 (which means to me, we stopped recruiting him)

Tyler Bertram's final 7 were Loyola Chicago, St. Joe's, George Washington, Hofstra, Rice, Brown and UNC- Charlotte. Adam Zagoria of verbalcommits.com has just announced that Bertram has commited to UNC-Charlotte and is reclassifying and redshirting for the 2018-19 season.
If we stopped recruiting him Anthony Grant and his staff must have more of an interest in some other guards. Joe Toussaint, Andre Gordon (former Sidney star who transferred to Huntington Prep), Amari Davis (Trotwood) and Samari Curtis (Xenia High School who decommited from _avier). Others less known are Josh Pierre-Louis, Tyson Etienne and Jovan Blacksher.

Thanks for the update. I must have missed his signing with UC. One player I forgot to mention though is Nate Jack the 6'4" JUCO guard. He can really shoot the rock! (40% on three pointers).

With PG Joe Toussaint off the board, as far as guards are concerned, that leaves us with offers out to 3 point guards and 2 shooting guards. They are as follows: Tyson Etienne, Ismael Cruz and local product Andre Gordon from Sidney who transferred to Huntington Prep for his senior season. The 2 shooting guards are Lester Quinones a 4 star at 6'5" and Nate Jack a JUCO at 6'4".
Two other guards who were mentioned previously have come off the board as well. On 8/12/18 Jovan Blacksher Jr. committed to Grand Canyon University and on 9/9/18 Josh Pierre-Louis committed to UNLV.

Camara’s stock has risen this summer. The 6’6” SF is listed as a 2 star on verbalcommits.com but that has changed to a 4 star. He or 6’9” Robbie Beran would be good additions to the Flyers for the class of 2019.

longtime fan was correct. My comment wasn’t meant to be sarcastic. In the world of college basketball recruiting information can change quickly and I was sincerely thanking lhsgolf19. Why would I want to be rude to someone who I agree provides valuable info on this site?

The only other SG remaining that we have offered for 2019 is 4 star, Lester Quinones from IMG Academy. He is a 6'5" 200lb top 50 player that has many outstanding offers so it should be interesting. I hope we can get him. He is just as good a three point shooter, if not better, than Nate Jack.

Shooting guard should not be that much of a priority with Dwayne Cohill having 3 more years and Jordan Davis and Ibi Watson both having 2 seasons remaining. Rodney Chatman will be available after sitting out this year. However, he is a true PG so that may make PG a priority for 2019 (can you say Andre Gordon)! Thankfully Crutcher will still have 2 years remaining so the Flyers will be in good hands!

Crutcher/Chatman will both have 2 years left after this year - might be hard to convince a quality PG to sit behind 2 guys for 2 years. Might be more of a 2020 target.

I agree and you may be right but I think it is important to keep the local high school kids at home and Andre Gordon is from Sidney who transferred to Huntington Prep for his senior year and he is talented enough to get enough playing time as a freshman and sophomore before he would be taking over the reins.

Is Gordon a straight PG or is he a combo?

Given the current roster and next year's incoming transfers, AG really only needs to get another Big in 2019. I'd pocket the other scholarship for a transfer at end of next year.

It's gonna be tough for any guard or wing to break into the rotation with the returning players and transfers coming online in 19-20.
I wonder if the play wouldn't be to go for another transfer to come online when Landers and Matos graduate

Can't believe we lose any really talented recruit worried about playing behind our roster. It's not like we have a bunch of all Americans. Kids go to the superpower schools even though they are stacked with talent.

Toumani Camara just let me know he's down to Dayton, Georgia and Kansas State. He's already taken an official visit to each school. 4-star forward in the 2019 class out of Florida. pic.twitter.com/irnpkvZTWb

Why UD? Perhaps there is a Marianist connection!

Because we have a great program on the rise, a great school, great facilities and great fans.
And we finally have some guys touching the NBA.

his high school was Chaminade Marist out of Hollywood, Fla.. Born in Bruxelles, Belgium, he has grown 2 inches over the last two years, and he tore it up inn the Addidas Gauntlet series..
He is one of the fastest rising recruits out there.. shoot, between Georgia, Kansas St and UD, I like our chances..

The connection starts with Anthony Grant. He is from Miami. Hollywood, FL is 20 miles north of Miami. And then the rest of his staff all has deep recruiting ties in Florida. So sooner or later, they’re going to pull a kid out of there. Making the final 3 on a 4-star is a pretty big deal though. Seems like we have a real shot.

He visited Georgia this past weekend. He visited us earlier in September after having taken an official to K-State. Georgia has a proximity advantage, perhaps, but I suspect Grant and our facilities give us our own advantage. Would be a GREAT get.

Athens, GA is a 10 hour drive from south Florida. I guess he'd get a couple games against Florida in Gainesville by going there, but even that's 5 hours away. Judging by the finalists, I think it's safe to assume, that proximity to home is not a real priority. If it was, he'd probably have one of the five Florida schools which offered him as a finalist. And speaking of the full offer sheet, it's interesting. Had offers from the entire Atlantic 10 basically. https://247sports.com/Recruitment/To...ruitInterests/
