St. Bonaventure Game Thread

Tough loss last night but don't let VCU beat you twice, as Archie used to say. Time to head to the worst place in the US and try and win in a tough road environment. This is not your normal Bonnies team, 6-11 and 2-2 in the A10... Thank God Jaylen Adams is gone lol

Game is at 4:30 on Saturday Afternoon and will be shown on the NBC Sports Network.

Potential Starting Lineup:
G 4 Nelson Kaputo 6’0” 175 SR Toronto, Ontario
G 0 Kyle Lofton 6’3” 180 FR Hillside, NJ
F 11 Courtney Stockard 6’5” 205 SR St. Louis, MO
F 15 LaDarien Griffin 6’6” 215 SR Jacksonville, FL
C 21 Osun Osunniyi 6’10” 190 FR Pleasantville, NJ

They are lead by their 2 Seniors, Stockard (15.6 PPG 5.8 RPG) and Griffin (11.4 PPG)... Lofton is a really good freshman PG, he is like our Jalen from last year, 37.5 MPG 13.5 PPG 4 APG. One new guy to pay attention is that big freshman, freakishly long and just began starting recently.

One thing to pay attention to, UNLV Transfer Jalen Poyser who averages about 13 a night did not play yesterday against URI due to a head injury he suffered in practice on Monday... Will be interesting to see if he plays on Saturday.

Going to be interesting to see how we play after the tough game last night. Olean is never easy.... But, let's get a split of these 2 road games. This starts a stretch of 5 games in conference where we should win each game, get it done!

There are no “must” wins for us until the A10 tourney.

We are almost assuredly not getting an at large bid. We will almost undoubtedly lose several road games with us current not favored at URI, @St. L, @ Davidson, and significantly challenged at UMass and @Duquesne.

Another pathetic possession to end the half. Do we have any clue what we’re doing in these sets/situations? Maybe try a high ball screen about 25 feet away from the basket with 5 seconds left and then pass to our worst three point shooter........who is standing on the wing behind the three point line.

I like Crutcher, think he can develop into a real gem. But a PG has got to get us set in these situations take the lead.

Our inability to hit perimeter shots makes it hard to run away from teams. St. B is a reasonably good defensive team, and when they can focus totally on taking away the paint, we become pretty easy to defend.

We need Jordan to warm up and Mikesell doesn’t have to shoot 40% from 3, but he needs to improve upon what he is giving us now.

Also really hurts that 2 of the 3 guys who come off the bench contribute zero at the offensive end.

Bonnie defense is very sound. That is bad news for a tentative offense.
Why doesn't Toppin spend more time under the basket? This game goes to the final minute.

Hopefully that scuffle will wake us up. That was our worst defensive effort all year and one of our worst offensive efforts. Jordan can't buy a basket and Obi can't catch the ball. We have to come out smoking.
