Hey, we'll still get to see some NCAA tournament action in Dayton when Coastal Carolina A&T and Samford Tech come to town for the First Four.

I thought the difference in this game was SLU being very strong in the paint and around the rim. They made their close ones easily. We took crazy shots inside because they had the size and strength to contest every one of those shots.
This is the same thing I saw against Baylor + USC. Saint Louis is a very good team. The lack of a decent post game and post defense shows up against the very good teams (with size) on our schedule. They sit back and wait for out wings to drive to the hoop.
We just don't have the big on our roster who can match with those teams with a lot of strength and size inside. We become a one-dimensional team against them. We can't keep a good defense honest without that threat.
I think this only gets solved with recruiting. Give us a shot-blocker or a decent 7 footer-type.

I like Dan Dakich as a commentator but when he said early on that Jim Crews is "one of the best men in college basketball" he dropped a few notches in my estimation. Crews could cure the sick and raise the dead, but any coach who would order one of his players to hit his opponent in the face on an inbounds play is not a "good man."
He's a dickhead.

Next three games: @FOR, @ RIC, VCU
That looks like a 1-3 start to me.
Then they get to go to Kingston. If Dayton doesn't toughen up this League is going to drink their milkshake.

On the way out of the Arena yesterday, we could hear the start of Flyer Feedback @ Flanagan's, and the show moderator (John Bedell of WHIO) made a comment that the Flyers "...missed more bunnies than a drunk Elmer Fudd." That pretty much sums-up the loss right there.
Pick a player - any player - and if he hits his season FG%, we have a ballgame. I'll start with DMO. He was shooting over 50% on the season before yesterday, and he went 0-12. If he goes 6-12, that's 12 more points and we're celebrating a 4-point win instead of an 8-point loss. Or, take Vee & DP and have both of them meet their season %s, and we win also (even if DMO still goes 0-12).
Others have said this, and it's true - you have to try to draw contact, not avoid it. Otherwise, you're shooting not to miss the basket.
Oh, w(h)ell, on to Fordham...

Which gets back to the point that Dayton will go as far as their seniors take them. I'd trade DMO's bank shot vs Ole Miss for a couple of easier baskets against STL.
