I liked Chelsea Rose's effort in the back. Chilton has some tools. Garcia is the best tackler on the team by far. There remains some work to be done at goalkeeping. Libertin did her usual running at people. Forward Ashley Campbell has some good size up top.
Dayton played 21 players, Haiti 14. I thought Haiti made a solid account of themselves. They were more physical (though many of the challenges were fouls). Their midfield play was stronger with better linking. The grass was long and that made the game very slow to develop. Some of UD's passes didn't have enough oomph on them to combat the long carpet.
Dayton looked their best offensively when on quick counters. Haiti's back line was pretty flat at times. We got bogged down when we just tried to work it upfield. Again, I didnt think we played the field conditions very well. I suspect the grass will be shorter for the season opener and that will help us.
Defense is a work in progress. Its just weird not seeing Beljan and Kenyon and Miller back there. Klinefelter and Scharer will continue to get better. The midfield was where the defense really lapsed most of the match.
Overall a good preseason test. We played a lot of players and the best news isnt the final score but that nobody sustained any injuries. The team has only been practicing together a couple days. So, dont make any big judgments on anything yet. The meat and potatoes is largely there to once again make a solid run at things.
We need another holding mid to go along with Garcia, and whos gonna be the one to step up as the Get Outta Jail person in the back that cleans up everyone's mess. That was Kenyon in 2011.
