Shutout! Flyers Beat Cross-Town Rival Wright State 3-0

Game Article: http://www.udpride.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21485

Flyers did a lot of really good things out there tonight. Could have easily been 5-0 or 6-1. Waters and Emery had their best games this season by far. Williams did whatever she wanted. Libertin did her crazy legs routine. Campbell is instant offense at times.

Obviously we can create scoring chances. Tonight we learned how to finish off a team defensively and earn the clean sheet. This defense still has a looooong way to go however. They still tend to wear down as the match goes into the final 10-15 minutes, but tonight they did enough to preserve the shutout. Passing out of the back must improve. We have to finish plays back there. Its not good enough to just win the ball. It has to be dsitributed to a teammate otherwise its just a giveaway.

But, progress was made. All three goals were top-quality. They dont get much better. Probably the best take-away from the match was the play of Emery. She's been largely absent all season, but decided to take part tonight. It showed. She made a huge difference. Tucker needs that from her every night. We're a different team when we get it. Her ball-winning tonight took so much responsibility off our defense which is exactly what we need. Preventive maintenance. In a way she was the best defender tonight because she prevented UD from having to defend on a lot of loose balls that could have gone WSU's way.

Great match start to finish. The defense was much improved, really looking forward to A-10 play, hopefully the ladies continue this stretch of good play.

Here are the highlights of the game. I like the comments by Melchert saying that they needed the shutout.
