Golden Widget 2/25/20 (George Mason)
Yesterday, our Flyers shot poorly. However, they kept their composure and played good defense. This is a game UD teams in the past would lose. Good Lord this team is fun. Go Flyers, go America. On to Davidson.
Who's your player of the game?
Bold prediction: Fake King Rollo will pick Cohill. And while all accounts are that he is a good player and teammate, part of me thinks he picks Cohill because of the connection between him and his child. If Rollo had a child who was good friends with Jimmie Binnie, I'd bet he'd demand a 50 foot bronze statue outside of UD Arena of Jimmie shooting one of his world famous Binnie Bombs.
But I digress, please vote away. King Widget the insightful......out

Watson!
Despite a dumb turnover or two, he showed signs of coming out of his scoring slump.
But much more importantly he was the leader of our team in +/- with a plus 12, which over the course of a full 40 minutes works out to over a +20, which is 2 1/2 times the +/- of any of our starters last night.
I know, too much math. Bottom line is he saved our butts and played **** good D in the 23 minutes he was on the floor.
Thanks to Figstats for the numbers.

Watson . He was aggressive, when passivity was pushing us toward a loss.

Yep. We were in trying not to lose mode. Glad somebody stepped up and tried to win.

I realize we must not speak of next season. But Ibi and Dwayne made me feel warm all over with their play last night. I still worry though.

Cohill's energy was 100%, 100% of the time he was on the floor. He was the only one that moved to get into position for a rebound when a shot went up. Then attacked the basket instead of passively bouncing around 3 point line.
I reward that kind of work!

I went with Ibi. He had some key buckets down the stretch that sealed the game for the Flyers. His defense is also improving.

Toppin because he made free throws unlike the rest of the team.

Me too. Obi is so far ahead of these others, he can't see them in the rear view. Another all-american performance. The guy takes 12 shots and scores 19 on subpar shooting night. How? Getting fouled. One stat I look at is Fouls Drawn. Last night Obi had 10. Next on our team was 3, and Wilson for them had 5. How does he have 10 and only shoot 9 free throws? Because he gets fouled in non-shooting situations when he is generating a shooting situation.
Obi will be irreplaceable!!

Did not vote. Obvious choices of Ibi and Cohill, but your poll is incomplete.
I credit this win to and award the prestigious Golden Widget to Coach Grant when his players were obviously not playing their A game. He called a key timeout when we were struggling against what looked to be a zone trap and then Crutcher makes a beautiful lob to Obi coming out of it.
The decision Coach made to stick with Cohill and Ibi longer in the second half who without their efforts we could have easily been on the wrong side of the score.
Congrats Coach on a job well done.

Without Cohill coming in and stopping the bleeding, there wouldn't have been any Ibi heroics. Cohill easily was the man last night.

Not me!! The others noted are making key contributions, but Obie is the prime rib on the Flyer Plate.

My vote goes to Coach Grant for finally doubling the dude with the goggles. It shut him and them down.

Grants challenge will be to replace his stats by committee. But finding players that can unbalance the floor, which creates opportunities for others, will be very difficult.
