OUCH!

Let's face it! The NCAA is a multi-billion dollar organization that has to protect those that feed the org and that means being gentle to the schools that produce the most eyes on their National Championship games (mainly FB & BB).

PIZZ those schools off and they can get up and leave to form a P5 network. All you will have left are the mid-majors and small schools playing non-scholarship FB. Who's paying big TV money to watch Mid Atlantic State U play UP State College on Saturday's?

All the upper levels of the NCAA would have to get laid off or face a pay cut. That just won't do!

If the powers that be wanted it done, it would be thus. They obviously don't because I haven't seen any head coach take the axe, at Kansas, UNC, LSU, Auburn, etc... So if they don't care, why should we?

If you were a fan of Cleveland State you'd care for sure!

Seriously, I'm surprised they haven't been relegated to NAIA status yet.

I never bought that the big schools would ever have the incentive to separate out from mid majors and below in Basketball. The interest in only 70 schools playing in their own world would cause probably 50 percent of fans to quit caring. As a UD fan, I would have no interest in a separate college basketball entity that UD was not a part of. The Davey vs. Goliath angle of college basketball is a huge one.

Maybe an exaggeration, but what would happen if the Yankees, Dodgers, Red Sox, Nationals or whatever the top 10 money makers and spenders decided to form their own league? I doubt baseball fans of the other teams would continue to follow the sport. It would be a slap in the face and just not worth changing allegiances nor watching your team compete in a lower level baseball world.

It would probably be worse in College. If as a Dayton fan I was forced to pick new team to follow and root for in higher division, I just couldn't be forced to root for OSU, or Cincy or X or Indiana etc... I would probably then choose to become an NBA fan.

NCAA basketball is all over the TV nowadays. It has to be bringing in mega bucks, even with the mid-majors or lower playing each other. I think if the Big Schools ever did choose to create their own basketball world it would probably become as relevant as College Ice Hockey or Soccer.
