Quick Turnaround

BEVERLY HILLS (MI) -- The Flyer Faithful have gone from having an inexorable seven day “Finals Week” break from UD hoops to a mere two day turnaround after the bitter OT loss to Colorado in Chitown on Saturday. There was a lot to like about UD’s effort early in the game on Saturday and a whole lot not to be enamored with after they went up by 14. Never has the term “Live by the three, die by the three” been more applicable than the game vs. the Buffaloes. Obi sent the tilt into OT with a triple and Colorado's D'Shawn Schwartz ended it with a wide open trey. How wide open?

Ouch!

The beauty part about only having a two day break is that the Flyers can ‘get back on the horse’ and beat a pretty bad Grambling team at home to erase a very serious case of the “woulda, coulda, shouldas.”

The logical question that Flyer fans are asking is: What does this loss do to UD’s ranking? The early returns are favorable:

Ken Pom has Dayton at #12: https://kenpom.com/

Gary Parrish at CBS Sports dropped the Flyers to #16:

Jeff Goodman (who had UD stuck at #16 forever) dropped our boys to #23:

Most importantly, the NCAA NET rankings only moved Dayton from #13 to #14:

We’ll see what the AP and USA Today have to say in a few hours but the guess here is that the Red and Blue stay somewhere in the 18-20 range.

Jablo has the answer on the AP: UD is #18:

Good for them!

-- “The Sweet Tweet of the Week” comes from ESPN college hoops analyst Seth Greenberg:

I’m a big proponent of playing with two point guards or “ball guards’” . Having an extra ball handler and playmaker on the floor allows for better flow, creates more easy baskets and cuts down on turnovers. It’s one of the reasons I really like this @DaytonMBB team.

That’s it “From the Swamp.”
