Former Flyers in TBT
Three former Flyers are teaming up in The Basketball Tournament.
Dyshawn, DO, and Vee are joining up with a few other guys.
https://thetournament.com/teams/broad-street-brawlers
Could be something to cheer for in the off-season!

Interesting that Vee is the point guard. Nice salaries. Good to see that 3-some still being successful. Especially getting the chance to play together. I wonder if any other teams have three former college teammates together.

For them to actually get to play people have to vote for them online. They also need a certain number of committed players. Currently their team in ineligible because they need more committed players and fan votes. Some schools actually just have their own team just made up of Alumni. VCU did it last year and had a great crowd at their games. I think their band (the Peppas) even showed up at their games.

Looks like they are now "eligible" and sitting in 10th place (I believe they take the top 9 - and add a few wild cards).
Also worth noting that Sean Finn is listed on Team Fredette

Doesn't make much sense that the "Broad Street Brawlers" are in the West region. *shrug*

Went through all the rosters and there are non-UD names that I remember. Good to see the names and faces of Finn, Oliver, Sanford & Pierre. Brought back good memories. Best of luck to them and to UD going forward for more memories.

UPDATE:
The Broad Street Brawlers played in the Philadelphia Jamboree where the winner gets a spot in the tournament. They played the Jamboree without Pierre, DO, and Vee.
They won both games to earn their spot. They are adding our boys for the tournament in Vegas.
http://www.metro.us/sports/philadelp...all-tournament
They play on July 15th @12:30 PST. The team they are playing is lead by 3 former NBA players: Jamario Moon, Glen Rice Jr, and Damien Wilkins.

Quite the ride for Glen Rice Jr going from 35th pick in the 2013 NBA draft to washing out of the D League altogether. He's been shot, and arrested multiple times. The last time he was hauled in by the police he had nearly killed a dude with his fist, then fled his Porsche to hide in some nearby bushes. All in all, Rice had nearly $3,000 cash, three guns, a whole lot of ammunition, and 6 cell phones on him. He's a bad dude. Decent chance he's dead or in jail before July 15 honestly.

If they win their first game, they'll have to play Team Colorado, who lost the Championship game last year by 5 points.
So what I'm saying is, don't go counting that prize money just yet.

BG dismissed him from the team at GT. London Warren was dismissed as a graduate student manager following the incident.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glen...College_career
He returned to the lineup for three games before being suspended indefinitely for non-basketball issues.[42][43] The suspension was Rice's second of the season and third in his college career.[43] Coach Brian Gregory dismissed him from the team on March 13 following an incident involving driving under the influence and discharging a firearm while under the influence in which Rice was charged with permitting unlawful operation.[31] Following the bad publicity Bo Ryan received about blocking a transfer, Gregory stated that he would not block a transfer to any university.[44]
http://www.espn.com/mens-college-bas...-team-shooting
ATLANTA -- Glen Rice Jr. was kicked off the Georgia Tech basketball team Tuesday, less than a week after a shooting incident outside an Atlanta nightclub led to criminal charges.
According to an Atlanta police report, an officer received a call of a shot being fired near a nightclub. The officer said he pulled over a Cadillac Escalade and recovered two handguns from inside the vehicle.
Warren "had glossy eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath," the report said. He was charged with DUI.
Rice was charged with permitting unlawful operation.
Another passenger, Steven Pryor, was charged with discharging a firearm while under the influence. He claimed the gun went off accidentally while he was trying to remove it from between two seats, police said. He did have a firearms license.
Officers returned to the scene of the shooting to check for any victims or property damage. None was found.

Pierre is out there pulling his usual spin moves and behind the back drives like always. Looks like has slimmed back down to where he was before Archie had him bulk up to play the post that one year.

The 3 Flyers combined for 60 points and 25 rebounds. DO had the only double/double in the game.
Sanford - 24 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals. 10-17 (4-6 from 3).
Pierre - 22 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals. 9-19.
Oliver - 14 points, 12 rebounds. 5-11.
Next game is tomorrow against a team that lost in the championship last year. Will be a tough game.

Tempers flare in the post-game handshake line, after a University of Kansas alums team blows a 25 point lead in a quarterfinal game and loses a shot at the $2 million pot.

I didn't see anything posted for 2018. Looks like Sibert joined the team (Broad Street Brawlers) this year. He scored 30, but they lost in the 1st round. I don't know much about TBT, but their starting five played all game?? That's different.
https://www.thetournament.com/bracket
Andres Sandoval's team (Showtime) was knocked out in the 2nd round.
It also looks like Sean Finn is an assistant coach for Team Fredette. They are still alive in the tournament.

Give it a couple years and the team will be all 6'1 guards who can "guard anyone" "shoot from anywhere", "plays bigger then his size", lather rinse and repeat.
If this whole PF/C-less strategy would have started all at once, maybe it could have been stopped. Reminds me of a saying, if you put a frog in boiling water it will jump right out, if you put a frog in room temp water and slowly heat it up it will boil itself to death.
Who needs 6'9" 240 pounders! Throw Frankie Policelli at Justin Tillman!

Tillman was 6'7 210-220. Our problem guarding him was we didn't have anyone athletic enough to guard him. Size was not the issue. Take away the hair, Tillman is smaller than Cunningham.
