Per ExplorerSteve of the A10 board:
http://www.basketballforum.com/atlan...ur-team-3.html
La Salle Roster of Players:
NO NAME eligibility YR POS Height HT WT Hometown Last School
2 Taylor Dunn SO G 6-2 190 State College, PA Winthrop
3 Tyreek Duren FR G 6-0 180 Philadelphia, PA Neumann-Goretti
4 Matt Lopez FR C 7-0 235 Washington Twp., NJ Washington Twp.
5 Ruben Guillandeaux SR G 6-6 205 Brooklyn, NY St. Patrick's (NJ)
10 Sam Mills FR G 6-2 180 Sunrise, FL Cardinal Gibbons
12 Cole Stefan FR G 6-3 185 Greenwood, MN Minnetonka
14 Devon White SO F 6-8 245 Philadelphia, PA Strawberry Mansion
20 Jerrell Williams SR F 6-8 215 Paterson, NJ Northfield Mount Hermon (MA)
23 Earl Pettis JR G 6-5 215 Philadelphia, PA Rutgers
24 Aaric Murray SO C 6-10 250 Philadelphia, PA Glen Mills
25 Greg Danish SR G 5-10 170 Nazareth, PA Nazareth
41 Steve Weingarten SR F 6-8 225 Baltimore, MD Connecticut College
Key Additions:
A. Top 35 Guards Duren and Mills
B. Transfer from Rutgers Pettis
C. Sharp shooting Guard Stefan
D. Center Matt Lopez
Key Losses:
A. Team Leader and PG Rodney Green
B. Forward Kimmani Barrett
C. Forward Yves Mbala
Aaric Murray has been training this off-season with the two top-notch guards entering the program (Mills and Duren). If Murray wins the A10 Player of the Year Award then this could be a stellar season for the Explorers. Earl Pettis, a transfer from Rutgers and a bulked-up Devon White will help keep defenders from double-teaming Murray inside. Ruben Guillandeaux will be back after a medical red-shirt for last season was granted. He will help in the development and building confidence in the trio of new guards. Cole Stefan will team with Ruben to provide outside offense. Jerrell Williams also expects to be a factor at both ends of the floor, especially defensively. Steve Weingarten provides experienced depth. Matt Lopez may redshirt.
Last season NO TEAM in DIVISION 1 lost more starters to injury then La Salle. This season we expect to see a healthy squad perform above the level of what most outside observers expect. The team has a good combination of experience and youth.
Best scenario prediction if Explorers play well and only sustain minor injuries: Top 3 finish and NCAA berth.
Worst scenario prediction if Explorers struggle early and only sustain minor injuries: 7th place and possible NIT or other 2 lesser tourneys berth.

Per WH on the A10 board:
http://www.basketballforum.com/atlan...5-lasalle.html
Lasalle
LASALLE
The keys to LaSalle's success is to stay healthy (the team has only 10 scholarship players); get good floor leadership from touted freshman point guard Tyreek Duren; see super-talented 6-10 center Aaric Murray emerge as a bonafide star; take better care of the ball (dead last in the A-10 in turnover margin); and defend the perimeter better (11th in 3PG defense).
The Explorers have been inconistent during the tenure of John Giannini, but he has gradually rebuilt the talent base. For the first time at LaSalle, Giannini has a real point guard. He also has a real shooting guard, a real power forward and a real true center. In short, a traditional roster of players instead of a collection of hybrid talents who were neither true forwards or guards. Big East transfer Earl Pettis is a guy to watch out for.
I think this team has the potential to surprise as much as the last two Explorer editions have often disappointed, but G's team will have to show a better commitment to defense, improved shot selection and just smarter play all around. I have yet to see what the distinguishing mark of a Giannini team actually is. It would help if Murray has a monster season. He's arguably the best NBA prospect in the league but needs to expand and refine his game.
NONCONFERENCE SCHEDULE
W - COLUMBIA
L - At Baylor
W - PRAIRIE VIEW A&M
W - MORGAN STATE
W - Providence (Cancun Challenge)
L - Missouri (Cancun Challenge)
W - DELAWARE STATE
L - OKLAHOMA STATE
W - At Boston University
L - VILLANOVA
W - BUCKNELL
L - RIDER
W - T0WSON STATE
W - BINGHAMTON
W - PENN
PREDICTED RECORD: 10-5.
LaSalle has a solid schedule packed with home games (11) and the team should perform well in the noncon slate. The Explorers start with an easy win over Columbia before heading to Texas for an almost certain loss to a revived Baylor program. Prairie View should be another easy win.
The meat of the schedule arrives with a home game vs Morgan State, a dangerous program under coach Todd Bozeman. Morgan State won 27 games last year and returns most of its players, but the backcourt is inexperienced. LaSalle should find a way to win. I also put the Explorers down for a victory over Providence even though the Explorers really haven't beaten any "name" teams under Giannini. PC has had huge roster turnover, and while the Friars have some pretty good talent, LaSalle should be able to squeak by. Missouri would likely be next and they just have too much athleticism for LaSalle.
Returning home LaSalle plays Delaware State, a limited team that tries to win by playing at a superslow pace. Travis Ford and a beatable Oklahoma State come to town for a game at the Palestra. Great chance for LaSalle to score its biggest win of the G era, but I am unconvinced. G's track record in these games is not good. If LaSalle wins, it will send a big message to the rest of the A-10.
A road game at BU is not easy. Terriers have arguably the best player in their conference and a lot of vets. Guard play and perimeter shooting is suspect, however. I call it a win. Villanova comes to Gola next. The Cats have owned LaSalle under Jay Wright. I don't see it changing this game. Nova just has too much perimeter firepower and experience.
LaSalle ends the noncon slate with five home games against very beatable teams, but the team's tendency has been to lose a game or two it shouldn't to a lesser team. I think Bucknell or more likely Rider could pull an upset over a overconfident LaSalle. Rider returns a deep roster. No big names, but the team is well coached and experienced.
BONUS A-10 PREDICTION: 7-9 (17-14 overall)
The Explorers pair up with Temple and two potentially rising programs in GW and UMass. LaSalle went 3-3 vs. these teams last year. I can't see the Exporers doing any better than that this season. The team also has to go on the road at Rhode Island, Charlotte, St. Louis, St. Bonaventure and Xavier. This is a tough group.

On the pre-game show, they mentioned CJ, DS and Luke are sick. Should be fun. No need to make comments about DS and Luke.

Quick 4-0 start after PW jumper and CW layup, with an inbounds steal in between.

Nice little mid-range jumper from the freethrow line by PW followed by a nice strong drive by CW. CW very active early.

Flyers attacking the basket early w/drives and dumps. 9-3 Dayton. Just too high on the alley oop to CW.
11-3 after Staten drives and scores causing another La Salle timeout. Am really liking the effort we're making to get inside.

Spearman knocks down a pair, 5-6 at the line early. 18-9 Dayton and they continue to take it right at La Salle, beating them down the floor and getting at the rim.
CJ for 3, 21-9.

They only showed zone for a couple possessions so far. I would think they'd go back to it. UD is all over them. Good to see.

keep attacking. If they start settling for 3s and missing then Lasalle can make a run. A lot of time left but I love the aggressiveness.

About what was expected for the first half. This will be close and we took advantage of the Explorer's shooting issues early. CW showed some smarts early, hope that continues. CJ is not feeling well, and that hurts. This will be close. Would absolutely love to leave Philly with a W.

Dr. G is going to keep the Explorers in different zones the rest of the game and bet that we don't hit enough shots. His early attempts at man to man were ill advised and he realized it.

Gotta love the aggression against the man at the beginning....but whaddya know...out comes the zone and we go back to what doesn't work....
Utilization of the post and gaps to beat the zone...Gillen agrees...wonder if the posters on UDP will?
Gonna be a long second half unless they come out of the zone...I don't think the coach not wearing shoes is that dumb.

This is exactly what I thought would happen in this game; LaSalle tries to run with dayton, realizes that they cant goes to a zone and dayton is cooked. This is the absolute definition of "befuddled" when it comes to UD Flyers and BG at the helm as a coach...against ANYBODY, ANY TEAM, that resorts to just an average zone defense - totally befuddled as what to do against it. Better hope Parker hits 9 3's I suppose huh?...

CW hits a nice baseline jumper, 48-40 Flyers.
Kavs gets his 3rd foul and heads to the bench.
CW flushes it off the board.
CW makes it three straight buckets off that 15fter (6-15 FG now). Timeout La Salle, Flyers up 52-42.

Nice little 10 point cushion, at the 12 minute mark, will The Flyers remember the lessons of the first half?

Benson deciding it's his turn! Nice look by Staten and good hustle for the board then to get the and 1. Just like that, we go up 17pts.

7:55 left, 63-50 Dayton. Just hoping La Salle isn't about to make this a repeat of the 1st half now that they have a few buckets.

CW 9-20 FG today, 20pts, 5 Rebs, 4 Blks.
Parker/Williams scoreless this half, Staten 2-9 FG on the game.
Got to hang on and hit some shots down the stretch. 11-14 from the line in the game so far too, so we have to keep that up.

Doubled our missed FT's in the last 30secs.

Stefan hits another three, 81-77, 20.7secs left.
Four missed FT's by Dayton in the last minute after missing only three the rest of the game.
