OSU offer is apparently non committable. Everything I'm reading it sounds like they're out on him
I saw it was mentioned he might he reclassify into the class of 2021

Hope we get some visits soon. Word is Alexander to St. John's and Uhlis likely committing to Iowa. Really only know of two other PGs we were recruting, which was Diarra and Farris, and Mashburn is really a cg or even sg, though he's pretty short for a sg.

There are lots of videos at this site. This young man has an impressive body, good hops, great movement and footwork on the defensive side, and a wealth of potential. He is currently a 3- star with offers from Providence, X, and others. I don't see how you pass on a kid like this. Red-shirt him his freshman year and build up his body. He could be a real find over time.

Do you think Posh to St. Johns tweets are wrong? I'm cautiously optimistic that they are wrong.

They're coming from multiple sources but until it's announced, it's not official.

Went over to both St. John's message boards and they seem to be fueled by the same Twitter speculation but doesn't seem like this is credited to any specific recruiting insider

I have no insight but the tweets all originated from a St. Johns fans. It's Twitter so they may know something or they may just be pretending to. There's tweets from Sunday saying he committed to St. Johns, so I do question their credibility the longer it goes without anything more official coming out. I'd at least expect the recruiting guys to pick up on it and make their CB predictions.

I read through some of the Johnny's board. No one believes the guy who posted on Twitter it was a done deal. There apparently is a guy who's pretty well connected and says he may be leaning that way. Either way, I believe the next thing I heard is not that he's announcing soon, it's that he's announcing the date he will be announcing. So I don't think anything is imminent.

The Seton Hall predictions on future cast on Rivals and crystal ball on 247 are all before Seton Hall got a commit from another PG. One on Future Case and 2 on Crystal Ball

St Johns inked transfer Rasheed Dunn, 6'2" guard from Cleveland State a few days ago. Not sure if they have any scholarships left. The guy who is tweeting the Alexander future committment to SJU is very questionable.
He may end of there somehow but he also may still end up at UD. SJU also got a PG committment in May.

I just think it’s funny that kids now have to make an announcement, announcing the date they are going to make a decision. I must be old school, but whatever happened to just announcing your decision.

Since Posh is a 2020 guy they'd have the scholarship for next year. They're also on some higher profile guys too

His father Scoonie Penn recently accepted a coaching position with the Memphis Grizzlies.

2nd official set up and this is crazy exciting
6'3" Georgia PG Eric Gaines (from Rodney Chatman's HS) visiting September 13-15
One of the most athletic Guards I have ever seen.... Kid is rail thin like 160-170 soaking wet but wow is he a human highlight reel... Might be the best dunker in the Nation. Dude is the definition of upside.

Crazy Long & Athletic... He's supposedly a top 150 talent but missed about all of the summer with a stress fracture in his leg... Has a few high level offers already. Would be a fantastic get because he's a guy they can mold and put some weight on him his 1st year as he plays behind a couple of Senior PGs, then take the reigns as a sophomore.

That looks like a throwback to the Flight Club level athleticism. You can always put good weight on someone but you can't teach that level of athletic ability.

In that Jablonski clip I can't get this quote out of my head:
On redshirt sophomore forward Chase Johnson: “He’s strong and healthy. He’s honestly one of the most athletic guys on that team. This goes back to the genetic part. He is such a great athlete: jumping, sprinting, lateral movements. He is fun to watch and gets off the floor quick. He will definitely have an exciting year.”
Earlier quote was Chase's athleticism = Obi's.

Per Zach Braziller of the NY Post, Posh Alexander took an unofficial visit to Seton Hall today. Wonder if he is still considering Dayton or not.

Over two years has passed since udflyerhoops2 posted on 7/31/17 that Anthony Grant offered Posh Alexander. As usual, Anthony showed that he is a great evaluator of talent as verbal commits now has Posh rated at 4 stars!
Lets hope that AG getting in early will carry some weight when it comes time for him to make his decision. The kid is a baller and would look good in a Flyer uniform and definitely would be a starter after Jalen Crutcher and Rodney Chatman graduate.

As I’m reading the tea leaves, when a new name pops up for a visit at the same position it typically means we have moved on from Player A.
What has me puzzled is that if nearly 2 weeks ago it was a done deal to SJ and today it seems that way still, why take a trip on your own nickel to another school you’ve ruled out? I know we aren’t talking about a lot of cash since it’s so close but why if your mind is made up? Either get would be solid for the program. Not

St. John's offered on 6/15/16 when Posh Alexander was only going into his freshman year of high school over a year earlier than we offered so you are probably right about the Crystal Balls lining up. It reminds me of our early recruitment of Chris Wright his freshman year. The home team wanting to keep the local boy home!
I agree, if we get Gaines I would be extremely happy as well!

We are in Keon Ambrose's Final 10 along with... Arkansas, Clemson, Cal, Arizona State, Virginia Tech, Saint Louis, VCU, Illinois & Florida.
Talks about his 10: http://www.phenomhoopreport.com/2020...n-each-school/
Dayton: “They have been with me since day 1, that has always been something to me because how they are close to home. Also, I like the role they have me in and their playstyle is what I like.”

Very encouraging because he narrowed his list down from 23 to 10 and Dayton is included over the likes of _avier, DePaul, UConn, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, New Mexico, Tulsa, Tulane, Howard, Georgia St, Detroit and George Mason and St. Bonaventure from the A-10.
We are in tough company with nine other programs but I like our chances with AG and his assistants doing the recruiting!

Based on his comment about UD being close to home I'm not sure we're really fighting 9 other teams here.....

Ihsgolf, you seem very high on Eric Gaines. Is that in preference to Posh Alexander, or because you think Alexander is off the table? Which PG would you choose if you could?

Probably a combo of both but I truly believe Gaines' upside is greater than Posh's. He would be one heck of a consolation prize.

Corey Evans of Rivals on Posh
it would be a surprise if he landed anywhere but Seton Hall or St. John’s with the Red Storm being my selection.

lhsgolf19, you liked Eric Gaines over Posh Alexander all things being equal. In watching his you tube videos he gets to the basket as easily as Posh and I too think Gaines may be better in the long run! I trust Anthony Grant will go all out to get him to commit.

Yeah I just think Gaines is probably a better fit right now, someone who can sit behind 2 experienced PGs and grow/get bigger... Then be ready to roll with big minutes as a Sophomore.
In my opinion,
Short Term/Immediate Need: Posh
Long Term/Upside: Gaines
I really do think he has NBA potential with his length as a 6'2"-6'3" PG if he progresses.

With the mention of Ivan Renko, the Bobby Knight mythical player; it sparked a memory. Probably none of you remember an interview with Hakeem Olajuwon. In the interview, he caused a sensation by mentioning his mythical 7’5” brother. I think he called him Chaka. Later there was a picture with his moderate sized brother in Lagos Nigeria.
In both cases, fraudulent recruiting services listed the recruit.
In Olajuwan’s case recruiting services promised video of him playing basketball in some rural dirt floor basketball court.

Any word on how the visit went this past weekend? I’m sure campus was pretty dead over Labor Day weekend.

Haven't heard anything. Luke Frazier was also on a OV, although he already committed during an unofficial this summer. The only thing that can be said is that some of the coaching staff that wasn't following him previously, either on Twitter or instagram are now following him as well as some others, like Rodney Chatman's dad and Luke's mom. Hopefully that's a good sign but you never know. Otherwise, it's radio silence on the visit.

Four-star forward Keon Ambrose ( https://247sports.com/Player/Keon-Am...lton-46054090/) is taking an official visit to Dayton this weekend, per his coach.
IMO would be our biggest recruit landed since Wright in 2007, maybe Staten in 2010... Fantastic prospect, instant impact

I expect to see him at one of the big volleyball matches Fri or Sat night/ also possibly MSOC v OSU. Grant often brings recruits if timing is right for a home match.

He's here at the packed, wall to wall volleyball game hanging with Toppin, Crutcher and Landers. Other members of the team have been around but are hanging out upstairs. (Watson, Chase, Jordy, Cohill and the freshman)

Keon got to witness an exciting match. The pep band was great and the VB faithful were in top form. He got into it, applauding Dayton points. When Grant came to get him, there was a woman with him (mother probably) and she hugged each of the players with Keon before leaving. Not necessarily a big deal, but indicates she must have felt welcomed and comfortable with them.

I might argue even if you do! Sibert was fantastic for us and was a top-50 guy out of high school, but after his first two years at Ohio State, it wasn’t clear how good he could be at the college level (answer: awesome).
I think Ambrose is going to be awesome as well. He’s top-100 in just about everyone’s rankings (ESPN 57, Rivals 96, 24/7 76). He would be the crown jewel of Coach Grant’s recruiting tenure here at UD. I think other guys would want to play with him, and he might open the door for a really really good 2020 class and beyond.
No knock on Sibert in any way, shape, or form, but I agree that he is probably the biggest recruit we’ve had on campus for an official visit in a long time.

I’m cautiously optimistic. My youngest (D) is attending UD as I have mentioned in past. As parents we visited the campus for both my kids. Moms love UD (was my wife’s favorite campus visit). If CAG can do his magic i can see any athlete’s mom feeling very good about sending her son to Coach Grant. He’s an awesome role model in an awesome campus.

No surprise, Wing Isaiah Rivera committed to Colorado State after taking an OV to them this past weekend... Seems like once we landed Luke, Rivera lost his spot.

I have to think we told him thanks but no thanks after landing Luke. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure we would have landed him over CSU.

I haven’t been following 2020 recruiting very closely. Is Gaines the top PG target for AG now that Posh Alexander decided to go elsewhere?

If he isn't he should be! I watched all Gaines you tube videos and he can really get to the basket anytime he wants to and definitely has long term/upside despite needing to put on weight. Jamal Mashburn Jr. and Hassan Diarra are both rated higher but I would think Eric Gaines would be AG's top target.
Once Anthony Grant and his staff get a young man in town to visit the campus, hang around with the current team members and tour the campus, UD Arena and the Donoher Center it is pretty impressive. I would be excited if he accepted an offer this weekend!

Gaines came, saw, and didn't commit. I was hoping for some good news. Is there any indication how the visit went?

Not much to say. The visit supposedly went well, but the kid has a lot of offers, include some P5 schools that he may want to visit. Just have to wait and see.

I don't keep track of these things, so perhaps I'm off base, but it seems pretty rare that UD hosts a recruit on an official visit and gets an immediate (ie within 3-5) commitment. Like it or not, UD is rarely the "dream" school for most recruits, unless you grew up local or your family has ties to UD such that you grew up a fan, a recruit might love UD, but he's also going to want to hear what other schools have to say. I don't blame them, its the biggest decision of their life, make sure you're making the right one, for the right reasons.

Just wondering would a trip to the Pine Club be appropriate on an official visit?

I think it's different for an official visit. The player has whittled down his list of schools. There's almost certainly a leader when he sets his order for officials. For UD, I tend to think our best chance for a committment is within a few days of the visit.

Good marks from mom are an underrated item. I like to know each visit how she assessed the OV. I like to think we excel in that arena.
