Where do we end up in the AP Poll? Feb. 24
Just curious where everyone sees the AP poll ranking for our Flyers tomorrow. Lots of movement ahead and behind us this week. Looking good. Beat George Mason!
Go Flyers!

we SHOULD be 4 minimum...
but it depends how many biased,
P5 voters will vote ABD -
anybody but Dayton...
the biased is very real, SMH
we'll see,
just win.. I can't even guess now,
no telling; but I know where we
SHOULD be..

As of now, our NET ranking is #5 and our RPI at #2 (understanding RPI is not as significant anymore). With all the upheaval ahead of us and behind us, my guess...
1 Kansas
2 Baylor (only drops 1 spot)
3 Our Dayton Flyers
4 Gonzaga (only drops 2 spots)
Beat George Mason!
Go Flyers!

I hear what you are saying, I really do.
But I do think we are getting some benefit of the doubt.
We are #5 and have not beaten a ranked team all year.
That does not happen with "bias"

I voted #3; maybe only #4; but hypothetically #2.
Ohio State did UD a huge favor today beating Maryland. That takes some heavy heat off the backside. San Diego State losing at home to a .500 team, has got to be somewhat punishable. Plus, considering the Atlantic Ten is rated higher than both the Mountain West or the West Coast; then a voter cannot credible justify holding UD down due to our conference makeup.
Same logic applies to both Gonzaga and San Diego State, uf they had to play the top half of the Atlantic Ten, as it does to UD if the Flyers played in the Big East or Big Ten, etc. Oh I know, the bias is real; but since the NCAA loves their own metrics so **** much; then they can eat and own both Atlantic Ten's Conference Ranking, and UD'S top four rankin.
I give a holy dump what any pundit or network mouth piece says; if UD wins out in the current Atlantic Ten Conference, they will be a number one seed.
I don't believe for a minute that Big Ten is 11 NCAA teams deep. What a bunch of bull drop! Purdue is trash. Getting credit for losing games, should be outlawed as an NCAA TOURNAMENT CREDENTIAL.
Go Flyers keep winning so the networks, Coach Cooley, Coach K, and every Big East President can eat and suck on it.

That is a good point. The same could be said of SDSU, as well. They did not beat a ranked opponent all year, either (at least when they played that team; some have crept into the Top 25 later in the season). They are from a smaller conference and they just kept winning and marching along. Their NET was #1, now #5.

After all the accolades this team has gotten all year...
After all the overwhelmingly positive press coverage...
After the high rankings in both the AP and Coahes’ polls...
It surprises me how many posters think we’re going to get jobbed due to P5 bias. I really don’t see it.
If we take care of business, the stage is set for a 1 seed.

Unbelievable fantasies here in Columbus town tonight. With a win over Maryland the local folks and broadcasters are actually discussing The OSU bucknuts going far in the dance and being a contender for Final Four. Someone help us Flyer fans here who have to listen to this dribble.

In fairness aren't we riding the we only lost to kansas and colorado in OT?
The A10 is filled with landmines, but we haven't really played anyone of note. SMC is a decent win, but that's like what equivalent of beating a 10 seed, same with URI.

Who knows, when I watched OSU at the beginning of the year I thought the team was **** good, potential NC. Watched them 2 months later and they looked like fordham.

We've blown out a lot of bad teams out. Rankings and metrics can be wrong lol. We complain about it every year how they all have P5 bias.
Our metrics/rankings are good partially because we barely lost to kansas an colorado; which was what they were complaining about loses counting for too much. If we lost to SJU and SBU our metrics would be probably 10 spots lower.

You had me agreeing with you until the last comment about losing to SJU and SBU. Those would be bad losses and dramatically affect out ranking and metrics.
We are hanging our hat on 2 close losses in OT to very good teams. Could've won both but buzzer 3s by us put both games into OT and misses on these 3s and we would've lost in regulation. While I like to think the metrics are good indicators and we deserve such high rankings, I look at the B1G and all those teams in the tip 50 and think they gamed the metrics. So who knows? Let's play a few tourney games and see what happens.

Right I guess my point is though, people are complaining about the B1G and their BS metrics holding them in with close loses, yet that's our best claim to being top 5.
I think we absolutely deserve to be where we are, but i'm not as sold as I could be because we really haven't play that much higher end competition.
I could see us winning the national championship, or losing a close one in the 2nd round. Where I'd be shocked to see Kansas/Baylor lose in the 2nd round because they've pretty much dominated that 2nd round level of competition. Who knows though.... it's march madness, maybe kansas pulls a UVA and loses in the first round.

Gonzaga vaulted to the top of the rankings early in the season with wins over UNC, Oregon, @Arizona, Washington, and @ Texas A&M. Some of those wins have held up. The win at Arizona looks very strong. Arizona is 5th place in a crazy Pac12 conference and has the #8 NET rankings. The win against Oregon in the Bahamas has also held up. The ducks have a NET ranking of 20 and are 2nd place in the Pac12. Look a little deeper, and Gonzaga's win against Oregon is a home win against a Pac12 team. That's a resume opportunity that Dayton just doesn't get. That's the game we wish we could get on the schedule.
But the other wins don't look as good. UNC (NET 96) is dead last (3-13) in the ACC and Washington is dead last (3-12) in the Pac12. The win at Texas A&M is only against a team with a NET ranking of 117. Dayton's home win against North Texas (NET 92) was as difficult as the UNC game Gonzaga won, without any of the Power 5 prestige. North Texas is now a proven winner sitting atop Conference USA.
Our records are almost the same. Dayton is 25-2. Gonzaga is 27-2.
Gonzaga's best wins are better, but out Quad 1 resumes look almost the same. Dayton is 4-2. Gonzaga is 5-2.
But our Quad 2 resume is deeper. Dayton is 6-0. Gonzaga is 3-0.
I voted that Dayton will be ranked 3rd. I'm not sure the "experts" will notice the similarities, but I think Dayton will get a lot of the love SDSU used to be getting. Dayton will also get some of the votes that may have been previously going to Duke or Maryland. With so many losses, Dayton has to pick up some extra votes that we were not previously getting.
