Dayton v Toledo
Set 1 to the flyers 25-22. Trailing 21-22 UD scored final 4 points to take the set.
Toledo has 7 freshmen and 4 sophmores and 1 junior.
Dayton still having communications errors and serve errors, I would guess they are passing poorly again.
Turner got 5 kills out of 11 attacks.

Lets see how the flyers do in set two which has been their most dysfuntional set in matches so far this year.
Some things don't change. UD down 13-10.
Horsman calls TO down 15-11. Toledo has yet to win a set this year, shut out 3-0 in all their matches.
Horsman calls 2nd TO down 20-13. Something about the 2nd set that dooms the flyers.
Flyers trailed 21-13 and have scored 4 straight to tighten the score at 21-17. TO Toledo.
Toledo wins their first set of 2014 defeating the error prone flyers 25-17.
Turner was aced 3 times in that set.

Dayton was aced 3 times while having 7 serve errors to go with it. Won't win many sets or matches with those kind of numbers.

I think the best news so far this year is we've lost to both teams that were clearly more talented, and beaten every team that was less talented. Albeit even in our wins against suspect opponents we have not looked especially good doing it.
But, we are grinding them out somehow someway nonetheless. They all count the same. We are a work in progress though so Im not sure any of this is all that surprising.

Good news we are 5-2 while being aa work in progress. Good news also is our problems are all correctable. We are a blocking machine again but lose it on give away points.
Turner's pregame interview she said she really likes the new coaches who are more intent than the previous staffs, that they are playing a new offense which is much faster than the previous offenses and says its to her skill set which may be why she is leading with kills. Also many are learning a new role on the team and timing is not yet worked out.
Not only do they have a new staff to get used to but a totally new offense. Admits there are communication issues to work out but they are dealing with those issues in practice.
Post game interview with Jill Loiars. She had a new career high in kills for her at 18. She and Turner are the work horses so far this year. Asked what the deal with the poor set two performances, she admitted the team kinda takes a breath while the opponent steps up their game. We have to come out fired up for all sets. She really likes the freshman setter but like everyone they have to get used to the new staff and new offense. Again its a timing thing as its a faster paced offense and were are working at getting the timing down.
A couple times Z out-jumped her set and swung at the air. Announcer said they aren't getting the sets up high enough for Z. Missed communication was a factor as there were times the hitters were not sure who the set was for and neither went for it. They may have to start spending more time on serves as that was a total wreck today giving up 17 free points.
All in all, at the end of the day a "W" is a "W" and just about where they should be. Need to bring their "A" games tomorrow as CSU and Navy will not be push overs.
