I heard on 700 wlw tonight before the game tonight: UD has not been ranked this highly this late in the season since February 1968...also, UD has the third longest streak in the nation in terms of not losing back-to-back games, that streak is 75 games, good for third place behind first place Villanova and second place Kansas.

Haven't found a video yet, but Scoochie's circus shot layup checked in at number 10 in Sportscenter's Top 10 this morning.
Great to see the Flyers back on the national radar!

Interesting about not having been ranked this high since February 1968. If I remember correctly, that was the year after our NCAA final loss. We started out the year something like 7-9 and then came back to win almost all of our remaining games and the NIT beating Kansas and Jo-Jo White. I don't know our record in February 1968 but we still had to have at least 9 losses and although we were a hot team, we did not get a NCAA bid because the tournament was much smaller at the time. Using up too much brain energy this early in the AM.

I was not alive in 1968, so I can not answer your question, lol, but I think wlw may have meant the February 10, 1970 poll, when UD was ranked #17 in the AP poll.
UD was ranked #19 in the February 3, 1970 poll.

Maybe I misheard, maybe wlw said ranked this highly this late in the regular season, not including after the conference tournaments. UD was ranked #16 in the final 2003-2004 poll on March 17.

Bump. This is an excellent summary of what the Rams were trying to do, and frankly how our multi-talented team came up with the answers to snag the win. No Ed Cooley whining, just objective analysis. Props to Kyle for his defense on the last shot.

Good mention of Dayton on espn.com
http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebaske...the-tournament
Dayton’s Darrell Davis did the same thing on the road at Rhode Island. With 21.1 seconds left, his 3-pointer gave the Flyers the lead for good in their 68-66 win.

Good article about the reasons to like and not like each of the top 25 teams by Jeff Goodman.
Dayton Flyers
Why we like them: Archie Miller is a rising star -- and he has versatility with this group. Remember, the Flyers didn't have Dyshawn Pierre on campus for the first semester.
Potential fatal flaw: Turnovers. The Flyers don't take care of the ball well enough, ranking 216th in the country in turnovers per game (13.3).

The Flyers have good ballhandlers, they seem to get careless at times. IMO the free throw shooting is a bigger issue than the TOs.

Dayton has 3 problems -- fix the 3 or at least 1/3 and legit Sweet 16/Elite 8. In order of priority.
(1) Turnovers
(2) Foul shooting
(3) 3 point defending.

In today's advanced stats age, singular stats are not great indicators. For instance with TOs, if you are having 2 more per game but causing 3 more in your opponent, then who cares if your turnovers are up. Or what if on your possessions you are shooting better than you did last year so you score more points per possession? Like economics, none of these stats exist in a vacuum.
Look instead at overall possessions and what they are doing with them, possession effectiveness for us and our opponents.
2013-4 .961 .940
2014-5 .911 .914
2015-6 .934 .930
So last year, we were negative in effective possession differential, so that is better. 2 years ago, we were much more effective but our opponents were more effective than this year. Still, most would say that was our best year due to differential. My guess is if we look at this in a few weeks, we will find that we have improved our effectiveness and lowered our opponents as we are still improving individually and as a team.
Also all teams have warts.
#7 in the ESPN Power rankings Maryland
"The Terrapins were hammered at home by Wisconsin. They are 245th in the nation in turnover percentage."

I don't see the turnovers as a big deal simply because we move the ball as good as any team out there. No risk, no reward. If we are overprotective with the ball, it could stagnate our offense and slow down the fast breaks. We rarely run 2 on 1, or 3 on 2 traditional fast breaks (in fact I don't think we are good at that). We throw the long outlet pass and a player streaks to the rim. Sometimes in doesn't work out.
We turn it over slightly more than our opponents. I think second half freethrows are the issue.
A previous coach we had always liked to say the goal is to push the ball, but the first time we had two turnovers in a row he was so much throwing sideline tantrums and in the players face that it stopped ball movement.

#DaytonFlyers at WWE Fastlane
Watching on the Network Sunday, I spotted this little gem from what looks to be someone from California. Granted, the show was at the Q in Cleveland, but I was so excited to see this that I'll give them a pass for showing the sign upside down.
That being said, as all WWE PPV are available on the Network in their entirety, this tidbit is Forever.
Millions and Millions watch these shows and their replays. That's good press...
