Laptop --> HDMI --> Television
I can't be the only one on here that does this to watch streaming games. Does anyone else's lag, skip, and run in slow-motion? I've had this problem with WatchESPN and now ESPN+. Someone suggested that I buy a new HDMI cord and that did not help.
Will there be an ESPN+ app for TVs at some point so I don't have to do this? Does anyone have the same lag and know how to fix it?

I had the same problem last year at times, not only with espn. This year I'm using watch espn via the Firestick. No issue at all. High quality picture.

You can log into your ESPN+ account via the ESPN app now. Works great for me.

There's an easy, cheap simpler way to do this:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/roku-ex...E&gclsrc=aw.ds
Plugs into your HDMI port on your TV and needs power from a USB port on your TV. There is an ESPN+ app for the device.
I cut the cord earlier in the year and haven't looked back. All my TVs have a roku either built in or plugged into it. And on the TVs with sound systems, Bluray, etc, they get a Harmony hub and remote.
Works well and saves me $50+/mo over cable.
I've come to realize that I only care about sports live. All other TV can come via the cloud.

Thanks for the response, this gives me several options. The next 3 games are on ESPN so I have some time to get this fixed.

We've been using the ESPN+ app on the phone and using Chromecast. Some buffering, but overall, the best streaming we have tried.

I have a Roku tv with the ESPN app and I watch some games on it but for Flyer games on ESPN + I use the laptop connected to the tv via HDMI cable. Both work fine for me. Could it be your internet speed?

No picture problem via my Roku but the sound was horrible yesterday. Fine during commercials so it had to be the broadcast audio quality.

We're down in Florida and used an hdmi cable from the computer to the tv. At every time out (commercial ?) the screen went blank and the feed did not come back automatically. We had to go back to the espn home screen and go back in to the game. It got a bit old fast. I think maybe I should have saved my 4.95 and just listened to the whio broadcast. We have a firestick altho we don't use it, but I'll dig it out and see if that works the next time.

That has been the case on every broadcast, men or women and the men's soccer. I have complained to ESPN. More need to do the same.

I can't speak for other game consoles but the Xbox consoles have the ESPN app available for download. With an HDMI cable connecting the console to the TV the picture has been pretty good. And a nice feature is you can pause it like a DVR and wait to sync up to the radio/computer feed and listen to Larry and Bucky.

I have a PS3 that is already connected to the main TV I use via HDMI. I'll see if they have the right app. I can also try getting the ESPN app for my Smart TV. I stupidly thought there would be a specific ESPN+ app, didn't realize you just needed the regular ESPN app.

I don't think my internet is the issue, I don't have an issue streaming in any other context, only when connecting laptop to TV using HDMI.

I was watching the A10 vball finals today with the laptop, HDMI, tv setup and I had the problem with the boosted volume during commercials. It wasn't much of a problem when I was using the tv speakers but then I ran the audio through my audio component set up, I had my eardrums rattled. I had to be ready with the mute button when they went to commercials. I don't remember this problem previously. I think it is more the ESPN+ setup.

FWIW: Although the Butler game was not on live on ESPN+, the replay of the game was promptly posted to ESPN+. If the same thing happens this afternoon, those having a 4:00 PM turkey dinner might still be able to watch the game without the risk of divorce proceedings.

Our dinner has been moved to 6. If our game goes to OT, I will be back here looking for a recommendation on a divorce attorney.
